I had absolutely great service. My hair was shampooed, moisturized and conditioned. The curl pattern of my original cut was maintained and curled excellently. Mr Johnson (the instructor) was a great coach for his students and guided them from start to finish. I will continue to book future appointments, it was a worthwhile experience. read more

This center maybe small but it's packed with the best students and instructors in the city. They not only teach you to be what you signed up for (ie) barber, nail tech, esthetician. Friday I decided to treat me and get my nails done for the very first time...This is the place to go to, first the professional attitude when I enter through the door with a warm greeting..Then a thorough COVID-19 check and every technician was Mask up. My nail technician Ms. Brook greeted me with a smile in her voice and lead me to her station.. Wash, cleanse, soaked and then the "Magic" happen, Ms.Brook, Massage, Clipped, Sand, Paint and I don't know the names to everything she did but They have a longtime customer. This place is absolutely awful! I have been a longtime customer of this beauty school and it's so sad that there's so much unprofessionalism. The students aren't as supervised as they should be which is crazy, they get an attitude with you when you ask for specific things rather than just admitting that they can't do certain hair services, the students don't listen to the instructors or customers, they treat people any kind of way, they don't reprimand students when they make mistakes and it's just an all around awful place. I wouldn't send my dog here. I went to have my hair colored a few years ago, and it was an awful experience from the jump. I arrived on time and was as polite as possible. When I got there I was speaking with the owner who happened to be working the front desk and checking customers in for appointments. I was standing at the desk and explaining to the owner that I wanted color services and I also reminded her that I had been there in the past for color. As I'm explaining all of my needs to the owner, the assistant supervisor comes over and begins writing down what I wanted to have done and as soon as I said color, the assistant supervisor suddenly cops a nasty attitude and scrunches up her face and says "You know once you color your hair you aren't natural right?" I explained to her that I was aware of that and reiterated that I had previous color services there before. The head manager who I intially spoke with saw and heard the assistant said, but did nothing about it. This isn't the first time I've had these kinds of problems out of this place and I regrert patronizing this hair school for so many years.    I've been a longtime customer of this salon for over 10 years, which is black owned and operated and I always love to support black businesses as a black woman myself. I didn't want to make a scene, so that's why I politely told the assistant supervisor that I understood, but at the same time I feel it was disrespectful for her to respond the way she did. I don't know if this lady had a bad day or what, but I silently prayed for her and I went and sat down to wait to be called. I sadly won't be returning to this hair school. read more

I came here today with my client so she could get her hair done and I am considering coming to get my hair nails and skin worked on because I need to find a real good hair treatment that will help me to grow my hair out and correct some of the damage done from chemical processing. The prices are worth it because an average salon would charge double what this place would charge. Since these are students tips are usually not allowed so keep that in mind unless you are working with a licensed professional who is established. It's also close to my home and they have reasonable hours to work around any schedule you can walk in (appointments are strongly advised) but you will have to wait to be seen since it's a first come first serve basis if it's a walk in or you're late for your scheduled appointment. Review the cancellation policies so you're aware of what you're dealing with. Beauty schools are generally less expensive and this is a school so the students working on you are getting their salon experience before they sit for the license and certification exams. The first reviewer obviously does not know that when you are going to a school to do hair and/or massage these are students in training so they are going to learn through trial and error that's what clinic is for so they can LEARN and correct their mistakes before getting out there to work on the general public as licensed beauticians. One thing they need to do is keep the floor swept up saw a lot of loose hair in clumps on the floor and the mat as you walk in the door needed to be swept or vaccumed other than that they're pretty organized. read more

Remember that this is a beauty college not a professional school. And I know everyone has their experiences with this place but me and my mom experience was terrible. Because I went there so my hair can grow longer, however this place made my hair fall out and over process it. By putting relaxers in my hair every three weeks not listening when we told them that my hair is just really thick.And giving you different people every time with half the students not even knowing what their doing. I did better off with me doing my hair at home. read more
