However, Jack (owner and driver) remained very patient and sensed what we needed immediately. What I liked most is that Jack "read the room" (or the limo). We were all stressed and tired, trying to get someone who is very ill and disabled to the airport. Jack didn't try to make conversation or light of the situation. He helped us get our bags to the checkout counter, helped transfer our ill passenger to a wheelchair and willing to do anything else for us. I highly recommend Charlevoix Taxi and Airport Shuttle. Reasonable rates, on time and extremely professional. Do not get this confused with Charlevoix Cab. I called information and got Charlevoix Cab instead.

Dispatcher, Tony, transferred me to a female (?Missy) to provide the exact address and explicit directions. I was told that the cost was a flat rate $80 (includes luggage and 2 people). --On 8-9-13 I called again in the morning and spoke with the dispatcher, Tony, to request that the time be moved up to 4:00 pm [due to flight time changes]. I again provided the address and directions. Now I was told that because I live outside the Charlevoix City limits, the fare was going to be $100. I asked why I had been informed during the first call that the fare was $80 - the female had my exact address including which was in a different town - so she had to have known it was not within the Charlevoix City limits. --I found the dispatcher to be extremely rude; he said I was rude by wanting to change the time of the run to TVC. He wanted to know what time my flight was and I said it was irrelevant. He was nasty. --As payback the dispatcher made sure that the cab was 35 minutes late. We called at 4:00 pm, 4:10 pm, and 4:20 pm - no cab. Each time dispatcher gave us totally bogus information about the location of the cab (e.g., 2.5 miles west of our location). Dispatcher threatened to not have the cab pick us up; dispatcher could not explain why we had been given the wrong fare amount. I would never believe anything this dispatcher says in the future. --The taxi driver was a real "charmer." Told us that his kids were so cute and showed us pictures and how they were sick. Some people will use any way to get a tip.

This was a Michigan Bucket List adventure for us! We both love breweries and going on adventures. If I set my mind to something, trust me, I will make it happen. Last year, I found out about Beaver Island and a little brewery located on it. Of course, I had to get there! lol I shared my findings with Partner In Crime and guess what....we chartered a flight to the island with Fresh Air! Wow!!! What an amazing experience! This company was so helpful and provided us with useful information about the island. The entire experience was top notch, the pilot was very experienced, and the flight over...stunningly beautiful. From the moment I called the great folks at this lovely airline it was the start of a chain reaction of amazing experiences. I'll be looking for excuses to fly with them again, if only all air travel were this great The owners and staff at each step from my confusion about anything Beaver Island (first visit) to scheduling, fares, parking arrangements, type of plane, weights, return travel (I wanted to take the ferry back as a part of my experience and they were so helpful in guiding me through things, genuinely great people) and even gave me many amazing suggestions and recommendations that were spot on. The entire team was friendly accommodating, had a sense of humor, and professional. The views were spectacular, the other passengers (they have great clients too, also locals, residents and regulars Likes attract Likes, right), and the pilot, despite how crazy busy they were, was enjoying himself and the gorgeous day, I can't say I blame him thanks to the folks here I have fallen in love with these little planes (they proved to me there was nothing to be nervous about, talk about a 360) and will find another excuse to take this airline around their service area. I also found out that I'm more impatient than I thought and the almost 3 hours boat ride back versus the views and thrill of the brief plane ride can't compare. They gave me 3 more hours to explore than I would've had otherwise to experience the island. I don't think I'll ever take the ferry again, I'm sold on this place and the all around experience and customer service you get.

The towels may be a bit scratchy & the hot water smells of iron, but this is an island lodge and not the Ritz. Plus, The Lodge is close to town & they have bikes which makes it easy to get anywhere. The restaurant was a total surprise - kudos to the chef, because the food was well prepared and delicious. The waiter Javeik, who is from from Jamaica, is a great guy and an excellent server. John (Johaan) is the manager and is incredible. He picked us up at the boat dock and took us back when it came time to leave. If you're planning a trip to Beaver Island, try to get a room at the Beaver Island Lodge. And have fun!!
