Remember, this place is spitting distance from one of the largest salmon fleets in the US so I ordered the salmon: maybe 1 inch wide salmon steak, obviously frozen from a bag. Wife got the halibut, 1/4 inch thick, again frozen from a bag. I've bought this kind of "fish" from discount grocery stores, so bad. Kids stared at their meals and literally laughed. Then I was over charged, of couse. Now it's become a family joke, my 11 year old daughter says things like "dad, look in the toilet, I just dropped a Duffy!" Three of us went here for brunch on 9/11. Terrible service, waited an hour for our food. When we got our food she threw the plates at us. My eggs were raw as was my hashbrowns, bacon was so little. My wife got the Rueben. It was not a Rueben, 2 little slices of corned beef. It came with pure horseradish, and her onion rings were dripping with grease. That was a $16.99 sandwich. AVOID THIS PLACE! Driving back from Pacific Beach, we stopped for breakfast and lunch for me. I ordered the French Dip for $10.99. Small garden salad came with it. The salad was good and that is where it ended. The French dip had literally, a slice and a half of roast beef on the bread. I asked if out waitress if that amount was normal and she said yes. She said the owner was here and I asked to speak with him. His response was, "It is measured!" I asked if one slice of meat is normal and he replied with the same thing! This place was recommended by my wife's boss. We were both hesitant as we have bad experiences with this place in the past. We arrived for breakfast and the place was fairly busy. We were told where to sit. After a while an overworked waitress (sweat on her face) took our order. No small talk, no personality toward us. Eggs were over done and hash browns were under cooked. Noticed that the light fixtures were in need of dusting (sorry 40 year electrician) , so have been a sign of things to come. As we went to pay I left my wife at the cashier I went to the men's rooms. The restroom reeked of pee. It was all I could do to hold my breath and get out as quickly as possible. Later in the day when we're at home my wife became ill. I highly recommend that you pass on this establishment as there are far superior, and cleaner places to eat in the harbor. read more

We are greeted by the table marketing "try Yak"... what?!*@# 2 Stars for the unique menu options offering Yak as another substitute for meat choices... fortunately for me I am not a red meat eater, but it did offer interesting breakfast conversation. Horrible, sorry but don't go! Service was super slow... even by post COVID standards and being understaffed it was stupid slow, they weren't that busy. We came during their closing time, but we were still welcomed. The employees were very friendly and didn't rush us during our meal at all. I ordered the prawn poboy with chowder special. The clam chowder was good, but didn't stand out too much. The sandwich was VERY delicious. The breaded and fried prawns were huge, tasty, and bouncy. The bread was toasted with butter, giving it a buttery crunch. YUM. I also had a bite of this halibut dish and it was okay. My Husband his Grand Daughter and I went to Duffys in Aberdeen last night for dinner. I had a french dip with fries He has oysters with a vegetable and a salad. His Grand Daughter had potato skins ,salad and small bowl of soup. We all had water to drink. the tab came to $92.00. Needless to say we were very shocked. My french dip was a small hoagie roll with a very small amount of beef and greasy fries. His oysters weren't good at all. We won't be going back there again. I can honestly say this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We started out with drinks which were totally flat. Then came the clam chowder, which I don't even have the words to describe how gross that was. Then, we waited over an hour for our main course, during which time our server mysteriously disappeared. I had the prime rib and a baked potato. The baked potato was cold and the butter on top was frozen, so I didn't eat much of that. I did, however, eat half of my prime rib and ended up with the worst case of food poisoning ever. I was sick for days. Then, to top it all off the bill was almost $140 for our party of 4. Duffy's is a cute, family restaurant. The food was pretty good, but the salads were small for the price. We were placed in a back corner and our server was not very friendly. The kids meals were generous and the atmosphere was pretty casual. Would give it a second try sometime for some of the homemade pies and seafood dishes. read more

Went here for lunch and it was terrible. We were seated right away, but the gal who seated us rushed through their specials that no one knew what she said before she ran back to the front. Our server Jesse came to take our order COULDNT have been more thrilled to be working today. The bare minimum of a smile/interaction we got was with my kid and that was it. Next to us, there was a couple who had complained because they had waited over an hour for 2 sandwiches. And there was not many people sitting in our section. Two other tables besides us. We sat for over an hour before getting our food as well. My husband and I both ate the fish and chips (supposed to be a house special) awful. My sister ordered the shallots, her first bite was nothing but water dripping down the front of her. My mothers stuffed prawns was supposed to be stuffed with crab but instead was disappointed with the taste of soggy crackers. Each of our plates were about $20 a piece. I have seen the sign several times on our way home from Ocean Shores. The Razor Clam fritter sounded so good. It was good but overpriced. A razor clam, small cup of clam chowder and garlic bread on a sandwich bun was $14.99. Had French fries been included I would have felt better about the cost. An upscale Denny's and the restrooms do have a distinctive smell when you walk in that is simply not inviting. Waitress attentive. Cooks sounded like they were having a good time. 30 minutes to get our food, no waters brought to the table until we asked, and then only some waters (2 of us never got water), 1 coffee refill in 60 minutes, needed ketchup but our waitress took 10-15 minutes to come back after delivering our food to ask if we needed anything ... some tables had ketchup squeeze bottles (as it should be) but we were given little plastic side-cups with a small amount of ketchup (what the hell?!?), didn't bring our check until we asked for it after being there over an hour. I just took my family to Duffy's restaurant and it took about 45 minutes to get served. Everything tasted nasty, prime rib, the baked potato$33 plate and it didn't taste good at all. Fried oysters had no taste, just bad. With the exception of maybe the water, everything was terrible. We will not be dining here again. read more

Okay I know this may not be a bucket list destination, maybe not on any list at all but what Duffy's does well it does well. To me it's got more of a local diner feel. From the decor to the waitresses, it has that lived in feel but when I want things more simple and basic I keep coming back here. I always get the same thing and probably always will. I come here for the razor clams and the wild blackberry pie, nothing more and nothing less and they haven't disappointed me yet. Next time you pass through Aberdeen give them a try and you may be pleasantly surprised too. read more

What happened to Duffy's? Have returned to the Harbor after an extended absence. Went to dinner at Duffy's with my brother and his wife because I had such fond memories of the place. I had the fried chicken which was terrific except for the sketchy food service fries. The shame of the evening was the prime rib which the others ordered. Their medium rare prime rib orders were dried out, over cooked planks of tough meat. I felt awful for them. The waitress and the manager both clucked about how awful it was but were apparently powerless to do anything about it. Shouldn't have gone back there. Should have stuck with my fond memories. read more

I generally love Duffy's. Their staff is very friendly and the food is great. Lately the prices are pretty high, though. However, yesterday I was sorely disappointed. The service was still great but the crab benedick which I had been greatly looking forward to was awful! The hollandaise sauce tasted vinegary and I had to look hard to find any crab meat. It was $29.42 for this and coffee. This was before the tip, of course. I did tip the waitress because she was attentive and didn't cook the food. I was extremely disappointed because the one I had two months before was heavenly! I was just waiting because they are so expensive. I think they had to have been made by different cooks. I will still go to Duffy's because I have been going their for years and they are usually the tops but I will never order their Crab Benedick again! read more

I wish I could post a zero stars review for this place. We had to stop by for breakfast at Duffy's today and after 45min of waiting, we had to walk out without food. Our waiter was polite and nice (I think her name was Joey). But, there was a very rude worker in there. I believe he was the manager and he said his name was Rick, he was a middle aged guy with white hair. He was the most disrespectful person that I have ever met in my life. He did not even look at me when I was asking about our food being late and gave us no explanation or apology. I will never go back there again. read more

I love Duffy's. I've been eating there since I was a kid. I don't live on the harbor anymore but every time I visit, I HAVE to stop in. The food is decent. I love their breaded veal and the clam chowder. You can always count on a good breakfast too. I recommend trying the little wild blackberry pie, it's always delicious. I wouldn't say they're the best restaurant in Aberdeen but my fond memories of the place, and my favorite dish not changing in quality or taste, will always have me coming back for more. The only negative feedback I can give is the service. It's slow and not very attentive. I give it 3 stars because of the service and because though I love the food, it can definitely be improved. read more

Passed thru Aberdeen on the way to the ocean and stopped in for breakfast. Was super delicious! Had steak and eggs and both were perfectly cooked. I'm picky about hash browns but theirs were great. Also very happy with the freezer jam. My daughter who never eats a full meal wanted more it was so good. Will always be a stop for us. read more

Alright imagine this is the place your parents brought you to when you were a kid. It's an older joint. Sunk in bar with short chairs. We sat in the lounge. Service was great. Lady who served us just a peach. Lovely lady. Scallops to die for. 1/2 pound burger add bacon is just the burger you needed. THE BUN? a tasty treat. If I were to come here again I'd ask for the bun on the side so I could enjoy it twice. Over all not a bad experience for a restaurant on the side of the road. read more

I've been driving by Duffys for years and always wanted to try. I found out that I have been missing out on this gem. Staff are very nice. The food has not disappointed me. Huge cinnamon rolls and pies. Husband loves the crepes and I love the monte cristo sandwich. There's a-lot that catches your eye in the decor with books and historical items. We used to go here for lunch but the last time after the pandemic wind down we decided to go out. I was craving the prime rib. It was well done when I ordered med rare and I tried to eat but it tasted like yesterday's warmed meat. I was so famished when we got there that I ate a little until I realized how awful it was. The owner happened to walk by ( I guess she is the owner, lady cashier) and I told her about my prime rib. Well, you ate off it already. I said yes, I won't return it or eat it but please understand the meat never tasted like this before, I thought you like to know. ( I was a restaurant owner before so I appreciated customers telling me) It's just not over cooked its more then that. She was rude about it. So I only ate my salad and potato. There are not a lot of choices in Aberdeen when you roll through after 9pm on your way home from a peninsula road trip. We opted to sit in the bar rather than wait to be seated in the restaurant. I would probably recommend that anytime the bar itself isn't too busy. The bartender/server was friendly and fun to chat with. Took our order quickly, served drinks quickly and no errors or anything out of "stock" on our visit. I opted for the rueben with fries and a black butte porter. (it comes with potato salad, but I substituted) After a very long and amazing day touring beaches and rain forests, I was really just happy for food. However, it should be stated to anyone unable to determine for themselves, this is not a place where the entire menu is "home made". Standard, run of the mill, likely from a jar sauerkraut, plentiful but almost sub par corned beef on surprisingly really good rye. The fries were standard bought in bulk diner fair and although they were cooked perfectly, they were not cooked in clean oil or in a fryer separate from any other foods as they tasted like fish. I can see this being the "Denny's" of town. Where you go because it's where you go, where you go because nothing else but a few bars are open at the time, or because it's a familiar enough set up and you're just driving through town. I imagine there is a chance I will eat here again someday under those above reasons, but I can't give it any higher than 2 stars, as it was just a 'meh' experience to a very tired and hungry girl and I have, indeed, had better. read more

We use to be fans, my husband, myself and our parents, and in fact everytime we went clam digging we brought our family and friends here for a meal on the way home. The pies are still fantastic, the food is good but not as good as it was. They also need to work on cleaning up the place and reupholstering their booths. And it's never fun walking into a restaurant and being greeted by the smell of the restrooms. Be prepared to wait for your food, and for something to be missing or for the waitress to never come back to check on you. It was very annoying when my husband picked up a homemade wild blackberry pie and drove 2.5hrs home and to end up with an apple pie, although it was delicious! Thier pies are excellent but expect to pay for them, into the 20's+. With the cost of food these days, there are just better places to eat. it's a diner, what more can I say. In a nut shell, Sysco food given a homespun feel. Why am I writing this review, because I feel the owners should recognize they are losing regulars and that service has gone down hill. read more

I still can't figure out why so many people eat at Duffy's! The food is OK but the service is AWFUL! The management is unprofessional, unfriendly, and certainly not concerned with the way the employees treat the guests. This morning was the third time we have been to Duffy's for breakfast and the server came to our table twice, once to take our order and once to serve us our food/give us our bill. She did not return to our table once to ask if the food was ok or if we needed a drink refill. I am the type of person who speaks my mind so I asked the manager what was up with the server dropping our bill off at the same time she served us our food. He basically dismissed my question and I politely told him we were not happy with the service, as we did not get offered refills or checked on at all. He started grumbling like a grumpy old man and said "there is nothing I can do about it" and stormed off. It is the only breakfast place in Aberdeen. We will be having breakfast at home from now on. My girlfriend ordered the razor clam appetizer. It never came. The orange juice didn't taste very good. The hash browns tasted like fake butter. I ordered my yak hamburger steak medium rare, and my girlfriend ordered her breakfast steak medium rare. Both came out well done. One thing I liked, though, was that they had Tiger Sauce on (some of) the tables (not ours). Tiger Sauce is made in my hometown, so it's nice to see it in another state. After spending the night at Pacific Beach, my friends and I were trying to find a place for lunch before the long drive home. Not much in the Aberdeen area has positive reviews...well, nothing that was open for lunch on Sunday (darn you Thai restaurants that weren't open until 4:30 PM!). We tried Duffy's because the parking lot was fairly full, and surely that many people couldn't be off their rockers. Well, apparently they were... The moment my friends walked in, they turned around and looked at me with disgust; we immediately knew we made a bad decision. We were welcomed by some slot machines at the front, plus some random books and maps being sold. The place looks and smells like it hasn't been cleaned since the 70s. But we pushed on knowing there weren't particularly better options in Aberdeen, and maybe the food would be better than the ambiance...? After sitting for a few minutes, the effect of the smell didn't wear off. (In fact, if you go to the bathroom, you will notice the smell again when you LEAVE the bathroom...never a good sign when a bathroom smells better.) So, I went into "what wouldn't make me sick here" mode and figured anything that went from a freezer directly into a deep frier might be safe. We ordered a fried seafood sampler, fries, chicken strips, and two friends courageously ordered (against my advice) oyster stew. The shrimp and scallops in the seafood platter were not too bad, albeit a little cold, but the oyster tasted strange, so we stopped eating them. The fries were good and actually the chicken strips were pretty delicious, but my friends described the oyster stew as tasting like "detergent". Since close to half the food wasn't edible and we were starving, we ordered another round of chicken strips plus onion rings. The onion rings were good, but the chicken strips didn't seem cooked all the way (or, at least, some of the batter wasn't). Topping off the experience was the check. Food at Duffy's is pretty dang expensive! Obviously, quality was low, but also for the price, the portions weren't really generous. You just kind of get a skimpy, small plate of whatever the main item was and that was it. I don't like giving 1- or 5-star reviews because there is always something worse or better, respectively. But when I ask myself whether I'd rather eat at Duffy's or McDonald's, I'm not sure...and that's scary because McDonald's is one of the last places I would ever choose to eat. Next time, I think we'll try waiting until Olympia and see what's there. read more
