The customer service at this place is horrible. The person who answered the phone was hardly helpful when I called to ask about blowing up a digital picture for my wedding and simply told me to come in to talk. When I went there, there was a man who barely greeted me and didn't even know where to find samples of print paper for me to see (as was promised on the phone). Then I got bounced to another woman who was a bit friendlier but said that they only have one type of print paper for blow ups and couldn't help me any further with what I needed. For a place that people claim is so great, I was sorely disappointed by both their customer service and the limited services they seem to offer. read more

BAD BAD BAD customer service and I'm really not the type to expect so much from a customer service rep. Is it really too much to ask that you NOT berate my choice of choosing the cheapest scanning option? I ask you to show me a sample of what the output will be but you claim that within your 5000 square feet warehouse of a store you don't have anything to show me. Also, you tell me i need to spend at least $500 to get a high quality scan of two 12"x12" paintings? I don't know what planet you come from but in mine, that's called rape. Given, I don't really get a lot of stuff printed since I'm a painter...so there... The output/final product was also UNUSABLE so wasted by $71 there. read more

no wonder they have only 2.5 stars. there's a reason. So before I came down to order prints (very simple, from cd to bigger photo prints) I call to check prices and see what I need to bring... They said to bring the CD and that's it. Get there, get everything set... Five or so days later I come to pick up the print.... once I got home to check the pics they were obviously WAYYYY over dark. Not anything near what I wanted, so I take the photos again ask for them to redo it... ok, pick up the pics again, check them at home since I was in a hurry... color is a little better, but still not what I wanted. and one photo had a stain on it. Went back 3rd time about how I am not happy. The woman that helped me was accommodating, but the other two people that "helped" me were HORRIBLE. Attitude was terrible, didn't care about me needs or trying to help me out. The so-called manager had the worst attitude ever, pretty much explaining things in technical terms when I have no idea what he is talking about. And you call yourself a MANAGER with that attitude??? Pretty much the MEN that I encountered there had bad attitudes. Never will come back... EVER!! pretty much more for their customer service. Plus they charge an arm and a leg. Instead go to Bunker or Fairway!!!! read more

Visited Duggal for a high quality print of a wedding portrait (8x10) to be framed. We were greeted friendly by Jim Braden and he took a good 30 minutes to guide us through the various paper and print options. He continued to suggest a few tweaks in PS to bring the full effect on paper. Definitely top quality customer service and stunning outcome. With that said, you pay for the quality. The services are not cheap but fair for a high quality professional photo service. I would definitely recommend Duggal for good products. read more

Atrocious customer service to say the least! I contacted them on behalf of our company on March 1 and spoke to Ashma. We wished to purchase a Duratran and a modified plexiglass sign (overall a sizable project), and told them that we needed the work done quickly. Not only did she rarely get back to me when I called and e-mailed her (one reply a week from her on average, some weeks no replies at all), but when she did she asked the same questions over and over that led nowhere. It has been almost 2 months and NOTHING on their end has been done. I am going to be looking to find another more reputable company to take my business to. read more

I will leave out the endless ridiculousness from day one and cut to the gist. I went to DUGGAL to make a wall mural of a drawing I did when I was kid for my business, FITCURE. I was told it would take a week. I went into the store mid November and then took time to consider it. In December I put a $500 deposit down on what I was told would cost $1800 ish. I can't even begin to tell you the never ending lack of customer interest. Maybe it was the particular sales person, but as a business owner, the employee is a rep for the company who is ultimately responsible. Bypassing specs on regular policy of unreturned email responses and constant lack of communication (I began to just want to wait and see how long it would take to get a response at one point, letting no follow up from myself happen. It was about 2 weeks at one time and finally I received a response due to MY follow up), the job was finally ready for install March 12. (My deposit was given in December for a one week job...just a re). The installers were great. Knowledgeable. Unfortunately it was the Wrong SIZE! When they called the sales woman I dealt with, she begins to berate me for being wrong in my stance! Upon escalating my call I speak to management and, cut to the chase again, am told it will be redone. They'll just have to charge ME for the re do on extra size since the first one was wrong. Do you need to re read that? No you don't, that happened. The job was completed March 25. It looks pretty good. Sadly they don't know how to communicate the job they may technically know how to perform. They essentially waived the $500 deposit on the job. If this was my business, I would probably have done more for my customer, but that's how I do things. Maybe I'm a unicorn. If I were you, I would investigate other options and use them as a last resort. read more

I sent some 120 bw film to be processed and scanned. When I received the scans, they were consistently filthy with dust and specks. It appeared as they handled the negatives poorly, to say the least. I'm not talking about one or two pieces of dust; I just can't imagine how a professional lab could get the film this dirty. I contacted the person there whom I dealt with twice, and twice heard they would get back to me. Never heard back. I will NEVER deal with these people again and I recommend if you have any work you don't want ruined, you take your business elsewhere. read more

After waiting perhaps ten minutes, Jim Braden jumped in to assist me. We discussed the process and appropriate options available at Duggal. Jim was patient, thorough and professional, even though I need just one color print of one photograph printed from my digital file. I work with a calibrated monitor, and my photograph on Jim's Mac looked identical in color, contrast, dynamic range and overall "feel". No, Duggal is not cheap--but I didn't come here for automated, machine-made prints. I look forward to seeing my finished print in two days, with archival mounting to follow. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I'm fairly new to being a full time artist, and I stopped by to learn about their giclee (aka fine art) printing and framing services. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist. When I explained I was totally new to the world of fine art printing and what I needed, she picked up the phone and called one of their reps, Danielle, to come and speak to me. Danielle clearly and patiently walked me through their entire process, showed me myriad swatches of different gilcee prints, and even took a look at my website to see the work I wanted to print. Afterward, she introduced me to her colleague Peter, a visual consultant, and he also went above and beyond, even advising me on the best places to buy cardboard matted frames, which they do not sell. Never once did I feel rushed or pressured into buying things. I get the sense that everyone there truly loves his/her job (both Peter and Danielle are artists themselves, so they understand the printing and framing process from both sides), is kind, professional and enjoys helping artists. Also, their work is insanely good, so I'm not surprised their clientele includes top photographers and such (I was referred to them by an art dealer). I will definitely be using them for my printing and framing needs. Super impressed. read more

I would go to my local print shop to have professional copies of my art work made. Where the local shop would charged $2.50 per scan to my computer. After the small shop closed I figured I'd go to the fancy studio. What a mistake. I was treated poorly.... Not at all professional, The work took three days to scan. The scan is unuseable. I was taken advantage of by what I would call smoke and mirrors. I could make a better scan on my home computer.The price and time spent on my part was a total waste...... read more

in the last couple of years i've gotten into the photography. i don't know, i suppose there's something super special about that snap of the shutter - quickly capturing a moment, allowing you to recall it forever. while some of these pictures end up being posted on facebook, most end up being stored on a drive, often forgotten. we live in a digital age where very little is tangible...i mean seeeriously - when was the last time you printed fotos?!??! that's why duggal is super rad. i took a foto of dandelions in a field several years ago and knew i wanted it to have more than some digital existence. i decided to get a canvas print and i'm so glad i did! duggal did a great job - the colors are super rich and vibrant, and it was delivered right to my door. i highly recommend their services! read more

This is where i get my film developed. They used to offer film back in the day, which would be nice and convenient. So one star off for not carrying it anymore. Some of the counter guys are A+. I had a bad first experience there, about four years back. When you get a film scan, and you ask for low-res "web quality" scans, do not expect them to be good enough to put on anything more than the Facebook side of the web. It was corrected with professionalism, however, and no issues since. read more

I sent Duggal a digital file of a photo from a recent trip to South East Asia. I wanted the photo blown up to a 20x16 inch canvas print. Duggal did an incredible job and I was very pleased with the results. Now hanging on my dining room wall, my photo of a Vietnamese child in Halong Bay gets a lot of love - both for the captured moment and for the framing. New Edit: After my review, I was contacted by Duggal's manager. She has done everything to make me feel more welcomed and to perhaps give Duggal another chance, so I am giving them two more stars. Original Review: The customer service at Duggal is terrible. They don't even deserve a score. I went in to ask about the variety of papers available to make a couple of custom prints, and I was quickly brushed off while asking simple questions about the papers. Before I could even speak to His Majesty, I had to wait at the counter for fifteen minutes. When His Royal Highness returned, he decided to instead help the customer behind me and completely ignore the fact that I had stood there waiting for him. I left feeling disgusted. I asked a friend whose company had used Duggal in the past about her customer service experience, and she said that they had moved their account to DePicture, which she said has great customer service. This is the first time I have ever written a Yelp review. I just couldn't help but write one after that experience. read more

If you look carefully, around town, you will notice a lot of high quality photographic signs bare the Duggal insignia. The first ones that come to mind, are the beautiful pictures in the Techserve window display. They look great and I've found Duggal will do your personal prints with the same level of care. The color quality of their prints is always rich and beautiful. There is never a wonky color shift and the image is perfectly centered. I've gone to other color labs in Manhattan, paid more, and had this problem. The woman who does the film printing there is extremely talented, with color. She takes great care with my little 4x5 prints. When I have my next exhibition, I will be excited to use their services. I have nothing bad to say about their customer service,either. It's wonderful. The sales people are not the technicians so no messing up prints, while curtly taking orders. They are friendly and knowledgeable and eager to accommodate all my photographic whims.I love this place. read more

Everyone has a favourite picture that they wish they could blow up. My favourite picture is of my beloved Pomeranian! I sent Duggal a high resolution of my beloved pup and they transferred it to a large canvas. It looks so professional, like a portrait. Ordering was easy, just upload a pic and delivery is super quick. They're located in the flatiron, so convenient but I didn't want to carry something bulky on mass trans. I used Duggal for a large canvas print of a photograph I had, to gift to my parents for their anniversary. The people at Duggal were very helpful and were able to inform me of photos I chose that were of lower resolution and thus would become blurry if expanded for the large print I wanted. I'm glad they took the time to warn me of that. When I did choose a photo I absolutely wanted to have printed, they suggested a black border that has really made the print shine. My parents loved the finished product - it was a perfect gift! I'll definitely be using their services again! read more

I've been using Duggal for almost all my 35mm film processing and prints for close to a decade now. They've never let me down. My orders are always ready when promised or earlier, and their email alerts are awesome when you're on a tight schedule. My negs are always done right and the prints come out just like I want them. The staff is super friendly and it's a beautiful space for lovers of photography. I have heard some say 'Duggal is expensive;' while it's true they cost a few dollars more than my local mom & pop store in Queens, or a big chain drug store, you get what you pay for. After the last time I trusted a roll to someone else ('hey, it's just BW, right?') and got back horrible tones - not to mention frames that had been cut right through - I said 'never again.' There are still a few great labs worth the extra few bucks left in NYC, and I'm happy to stick with this one. read more
