We are doing a several week road trip through small towns in GA,SC and NC. We were looking for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to carry-out while traveling to a new location from Sautee Nacoochee. I saw on FB that The Dugout was doing dinner. I called the day before and they couldn't have been nicer. We stopped by there about 11:45 on Thanksgiving. The young man who took our order couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We waited maybe 15 mins. Let me say, when we landed at our next destination, the turkey dinner, all the fixings, sides and dessert was delicious! Homemade and such a generous portion. If we were locals we would be regulars! So we were on our way home from our North Georgia wine trip and wanted to grab a bite before we got too far down the road. A couple of yelp searches and we discovered the Dugout. Seems to be off the beaten path but it was still busy. Seems to be a crossroad stop for a few towns. Typical pub fair, burgers, dogs, pizza and beer. I had a couple of hotdogs that had awesome flavor. Not much on them so you were free to dress to your liking. Deb had some hot wings and onion rings. Both were pretty tasty. A solid spot for good grub but nothing that really wow'd us. read more

Jared runs the restaurant and is so kind and accommodating. The food was amazing. My favorite was the jalapeno poppers and fried green beans. We had crab legs one night too which were also amazing. It's not a huge place but it was packed every night. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Everybody was so nice. We loved everything we got. read more

Typical bar food which I would probably give 3/4 stars. Staff is friendly. Here's my problem. On the menu it states 1 sauce per order of wings. So if you want 12 wings with 2 sauces they charge you for 2 orders of 6 wings instead. 2 orders of 6 wings cost more than an order of 12 wings. Why is it such a big deal to split the sauces on an order of 12 wings? Apparently this bothers them SO much that they had to put it on the menu to make sure you know that they will NOT split the sauces. This just comes off as bad customer service and a stubborn owner who only does things the way he wants to. I refuse to support small minded businesses who will not cater to their customers. It's called the "service" industry for a reason. There another bar a few miles away that splits the sauces at no charge. I guess they'll be getting my business from now on. read more

Ok doing an update here. The dugout is open again. Went for lunch and the wings were great, crispy and juicy. The Philly cheesesteak was a good sandwich which I would order again although not really a Philly cheesesteak. Looks like Friday is prime rib night and there are beer specials. On my visit, they had 2 employees call in... so I understand how tough it is these days to run a decent place to eat. So of course we had an issue with our order, which they made good. Our waitress was nice and so was all the staff. I am not knocking them for service, it was busy. If I'm being honest, the food wasn't great. Wings were over cooked, fries were greasy, calzone's ricotta needed more time in the oven but the bread was so tough it couldn't stand it and the pizza... umm, they should have bought one at a grocery store and tried to pass it off as theirs. I threw the leftovers away, I hated to toss it but honestly it was the right choice. Go if you like beer and don't care what your eating. They are at least nice. read more

Game to watch some UGA football. Ate at the bar inside. Had several TVs inside. Had the spicy bourbon wings and a side salad. Wings were crispy and a good size. Sauce was really good! Salad was simple but tasty. Had a really good Bloody Mary. They have a good beer and liquor selection. Would like to try some other things. Has a nice outdoor area to eat too! read more

It's simply not possible. Wait on yourself, including getting your own utensils and drinks. Eliminate NY strip steaks from their menu. NY strips are typically tough, but not shoe leather tough. Thirty dollars for shoe leather a chain saw couldn't cut. How embarrassing to sit with others who remark "you can't cut that, even with a steak knife?" A baked potato baked three weeks ago. A salad that arrived 20 minutes after the food, obviously purchased from Dollar General. I didn't expect Long Horn, but nor did I expect a tasteless uneatable hunk of beef. Forget the tea!! So we just happened on this restaurant on our way back from Lake Burton. It looked cute so on a whim decided to stop in for dinner. That was a mistake. Ordered app, 2 orders of wings, cheesesteak, and 1 draft beer. Total bill over $65. Very pricey. They were busy so we should have never sat down. Took over 1.5 hours to get food. Wait staff was rude. Almost didn't leave a tip but have waited tables in the past so against my better judgement, tipped. Onion rings not recommended. Greasy. Wings were OK but at $15+ for 10 wings, consider that pretty expensive. Took forever to get salad and came out in plastic container. Had requested salad earlier because I was hungry but apparently wait staff was unable to bring even though suspect it was premade. I probably won't try the Dugout Sports Grill again. Usually, I give a restaurant at least two tries before dismissing but this was such a bad experience don't think I will bother. There are plenty of other good restaurants out there struggling that we can go back to or give a try. read more
