    Cookie Cake

Delightful little local bakery that has been clutch for events & gifts. Great cakes, cookies, and macrons. They accept orders online and over the phone; but also have a decent selection for walk in orders as well, which is very convenient. So many Last minute cakes! Less than favorable street parking situation, but that's the downtown life.

Decorated sugar cookie that is cute AND tasty!

I live across the river but when we are in Alton we try to always stop in! The shop is full of delicious items. The staff is helpful and friendly. The cheese danish from Duke is the best I've ever had anywhere! The iced sugar cookies are always fun. We have tried Asiago bread, various cookies, brownies, cream horns, danish and tarts. Not to mention their homemade "ding dong" cakes. I love that this bakery stays open later as well! How cute is this little dog cookie we picked up the other day?

I've lived in the area for so long but made my first in-person visit to Duke just recently. I don't know why it took me so long. As any Altonian, I've had plenty of Duke goodies--cakes at weddings and parties, bread at local restaurants, or treats courtesy of a coworker. But this time I went in the morning for donuts, and oh my gosh. I thought I had my favorite donut place on lock, but that just changed. Duke Bakery makes my new favorite glazed donut--I'm a simple girl. The Duke Fingers are also incredible. Service was fast and friendly, and I'll definitely be stopping by for more.

    Tiny stale cookies

I have been here many times before but this last time is it. We got 12 cookies for $17. Huge rip off here is a pic of 2 of 4 cookies. (Christmas which should have been buy 1 get 2 free) NOPE! Paid full price for crap. Everything we got was stale and old. Even the clerk said we got wipes out for the holidays and we need to restock. We went in on 1/2 the cookies were barely edible. Will never go back too many good bakeries this one is crap

Left is her Roblox character she wanted on the cake, right is the cake.

Dukes is our fav local bakery. From kids bdays to our wedding, we always go there! My child always wants something interesting on her cake - beachy cupcakes with a coconut cake, her Roblox character on a cake with rainbow edges - they always come through with her vision! They also made our very simple wedding cake which was DELICIOUS. Great for cakes & stopping in for a quick dessert! We've also done their holiday cookie kits in the past & those have been delicious too.

Bought a few things. Apple fritter was good. My donut was definitely overcooked. For the most part it tastes good and would try again.

Wonderful baker. Great baked goods. Beautiful, artistic cakes with delicious, moist flavor. They did my wedding cake and anniversary cakes.

We stopped off at Mister Donut during a trip to the Midwest to visit family. This place is great! I…read morehad an old fashioned buttermilk and my wife had a vanilla angel. The donuts were fluffy and well cooked and just the right amount of flavor and sweetness. Aimee and Ceasar, the owners came out and we had a long friendly chat about the resaurant, our trip and so many other topics. They were super friendly and made us feel very special. It seemed the clientele all were regulars and knew the owners well - just like a big family in there! Of course we had to get souvenirs, and there was so much to choose from, so we ended up with 3 t-shirts and both ceramic cup styles. I use my cup at work and it gets lots of compliments! Thanks, Aimee and Ceasar for a very memorable experience! Next time we're in the area, Mister Donut will be a must-visit place for sure! BZ!

I have a new favorite donut at, Mister Donut. It's the Blueberry Cake. I love Blueberries, but…read morewould have never thought to try this donut. That was until, Ian Frobe the STL food critic sang its praises in a review. The next day after reading the article, I went to experience it for myself. Wow, the donut was moist, soft and cake had a flecks of Blueberries and the flavor was strong, but not overpowering. I immediately feel in love. Now, I change my order up. I'll have some donut holes, then I'll enjoy a Chocolate Long John and the next visit is the Blueberry Cake. The sign above the entry door says, World's Best Coffee. I don't know if I'd go that far to say it's the world's best, but for Donut Shop/Diner coffee it is spot on. I like that they let me bring in my Yeti and they'll fill it up to-go. Save those paper cups. The staff is super friendly. It's a hon and babe, type place, but they still keep it professional. Tipping is optional and these ladies deserve some of your change tossed in their box. When: January 8, 2026 Why: Donuts for Breakfast
