My husband and I visited Bobby's tonight after not being in the area for quite some time. We ordered two regular concretes--the Tart Cherry Turtle and the Gooey Butter Cake--and spent nearly $20. While the price was surprising, that's not the reason for this review. Unfortunately, both concretes were extremely disappointing. They were bland and virtually tasteless, with none of the rich flavor we expected. When I was younger, going to Bobby's was a real treat. The quality and flavor made it worth the visit. Sadly, that wasn't our experience tonight. The product simply didn't live up to the reputation I remember. I rarely leave reviews, but I was genuinely disappointed. I can't help but wonder if others have noticed a decline in quality as well. For us, there are better alternatives available now--even Dairy Queen offers a more satisfying frozen treat experience. I truly wanted to enjoy this visit, but based on tonight's experience, we won't be returning. read more

What an absolute disappointment last night. Bobby would be very upset to see his beloved custard shop in such disarray. Dirty floors, dirty counters. I watched an employee take a trash pickup tool and move it, then without washing her hands, she scooped custard. . They also changed many of the favorites. The strawberry shortcake is no longer Krutas (big mistake). The nutty bar concrete: they used a few pieces of nutty bar and added in peanut butter and hard shell. I assume it cheaper and it was gross. I didn't finish it. I've given Bobby's a 2nd and 3rd chance. I think I'm done. When I pay $7 for a regular concrete, it should be made as Bobby had created when he owned the place. Sad. read more

Bobby's is my newest obsession! I've been going this summer and the flavors and ingredients are top notch. They make everything in house and you could tell. The service is impeccable. When I headed out to celebrate, National Banana Split Day, it was a no brainer on where I was going. I went to, Bobby's Frozen Custard where the vanilla custard is rich and creamy. Bobby's offers two different sizes of Banana Splits and I went with their small. OMG, it was huge. I couldn't eat all of my small, so I cannot imagine what I would have done with a large. Their split was a traditional split. It had three good sized scoops of their famous vanilla custard covered in, Hot Fudge, Pineapple and Strawberries. It was then topped with, whipped cream, a sprinkle of crushed nuts and crowned with maraschino cherries. After enjoying my split, I had to go back up to the order window and get my first Caramel Apple of the season. If you haven't had one of their apples, you gotta try them. I always go with the Caramel Pecan. I may try the M&M one this season. If you cannot make it to Maryville, they sell Bobby's Apples at local Schnucks and Dierbergs. Such a great place for frozen custard! Some of the nicest people work here, greeting you with smiles. Quite an extensive menu, from shakes to coffee and cones. We ordered a blackberry shake, gummy worms shake and a cookie dough custard with a peanut allergy. I ordered a mini tart cherry custard. Bobby's accurately gave us our order and it was all delicious! I really enjoying going to Bobby's Frozen Custard when I'm in the area and lately I've been in the area quite often. The staff works hard and are friendly and quite efficient and courteous with getting the orders out in a timely manner to keep the lines moving at a good pace. I love that they offer candle apples throughout their entire season. I like the double dipped caramel apples w/out the pecans as well as the caramel pecan apples. My favorite treat from Bobby's beside the apples is there staple.....the hot fudge sundae, omgggggg........those toasted, salted pecans in the sundae are phenomenally delicious. They set the sundae off and take it to another level. It's my mom's favorite as well. Always worth the stop when over in the neighborhood. read more

I placed an order for specialty quarts 3 days before a party I had planned. I called to ask when I could pick them up only to find out that they did not process my order. I followed the instructions and ordered through the website at the direction of the employee I spoke with 3 days prior. Apparently all orders have to be called in instead of using the order process on the website. When I called, Joann was rude and dismissive. She was also unwilling to accommodate my request despite it being an error on their side. Love the custard here, but if you're counting on someone to do the right thing, you won't find them here. I love Bobby's! I look forward to visiting them every March-October! In the spring, don't miss the Rice Krispie treats dipped in caramel and rolled in pecans!!!! OMG, they are so delish! And of course a cup of custard is always good! A sundae or a concrete, whatever you like! It can get a little pricey depending on what you get but hey, you gotta treat yourself! They are also known for their caramel apples rolled in pecans that the roll out late summer/early fall. Check out Bobby's if you are in Maryville! Be prepared to wait in the heart of the summer--they usually have a long line. This summer of COVId they didn't do it but they usually have free concerts on the weekends in June, July and August. For the cost of a cup of custard you can enjoy a free 2 hour outdoor concert with local bands which is great! Hope they can bring it back in 2021. read more

They have outdoor seating only and have done a good job adjusting to Covid 19 limitations. Bobby's is dog friendly so take your furry friend along and order them a Pup Cup (low sugar vanilla in a bow). They will love you forever and you'll get to laugh at them pushing the bowl all over as they lick their treat. They also do specials that frequently involve mixing baked goods like pumpkin pie from a local bakery in their concrete. So good! So we were having dinner at the Horseshoe in Collinsville, and when they found out we are from Dallas, everyone told us to come here for dessert. ARE WE GLAD WE DID!! When we got here, there were about 69 people in the lot and 2 dozen in 3 lines. But with 20 people working inside, orders are made and delivered in 2-3 minutes. It's a fascinating coordinated choreography going on, with fresh custard being made every hour then served up in all its variations. Bobby's is famous for its turtle concrete, and justifiably so!! I had one and it's just awesome. There is nothing like this in Texas. My older daughter got the Brownie Buster, made with baked fresh brownies, vanilla custard and she substituted salted pecans for mixed nuts. Those brownies were so tender and rich and delicious -- so indulgent and decadent! My youngest got the Crunch concrete with vanilla custard, chocolate, and crunchy bits.
