Duke city doggery has gone downhill. I've been taking my dog there for the past 3 years. This last visit was a bust. I always ask for a schnauzer cut for Max & have always been charged the small dog fee. Surprisingly, they charged me for a Medium dog this last visit, and Max is still 18lbs. The groomer Kelly left streaks where Max had been shaven, he was left with uneven strands, very noticable on ears and tail. Now he has a razorback.(see pics). I asked to speak to the manager/owner, they said she would call me back. Unprofessionally I had a response via text stating that Max is a medium dog, therefore was charged the medium rate and to take him back for Kelly to fix the cut. I didn't want that same person cutting Max's hair. If you want your dog to have a good cut, I'd think twice before taking your fur baby to Duke City Doggery on Louisiana NE. If anyone has a recommendation for a good, honest groomer that does schnauzer cuts, please let me know. read more

I mentioned that I had discontinued going there to the noise level & lack of organization. Madison Carter stated that I had not been there since August of 2023, proceeded to go in Duke City Doggery's computer and posted my personal grooming information publicly for nine appointments on the media site w/o my permission. Like saying you had a video of the proof I'm lying but won't share it. & big whoop I mentioned a wrong date, I've been stressed from dealing with such unprofessional women. You have NEVER called us. We always just SHOWN up. We've NEVER been given a pick up time. Ever. Quit acting like a quick lunch break was the reason anyone was mad. You sound insane. Don't book appointments if you aren't planning to do the appointment and take a full our off during a SET appointment. Eat lunch. No one cares. But speak to your customers so they know what's going on. I keep waiting for this video you lied about so we can see what really happened but we know that won't happen. I did come in and say it would be nice to have know there was going to be a lunch taken. That is LITERALLY on video if you weren't scared to post it. Moral of the story is your mom has an attitude problem because I set up an appointment WITH you for Feb. Wasn't until I came back that all of sudden the Liz thing comes. What a great find!! Warm, friendly and very knowledgeable...this neighborhood friendly pet store isn't just another pet retail outlet - no sir. Aside from carrying healthy all natural products, they also offer pet grooming and...and...they have three self-showering pet stations for you to bring your dirty little dog in to. When I had a larger dog, this was a great way to bath his dirty little butt and leaving the mess somewhere else - bedside my bathroom!! Although be sure to tidy up after yourself here - don't be "that type" of dog owner...:) How nice it was to walk in and talk with the owners about dog nutrition - they're both very knowledgeable and made some pretty cool recommendations. I also didn't get a chance to leave without a few samples to try - who does that anymore??? Very cool!! I love places like this! I take my 2 year old yorkie here and Liz does such a great job on him. She is also so friendly and sweet, which seems hard to come by these days. You need dog food, a place to wash your dirty pup, some snacks for your furry friend? This place is run by two of the nicest ladies. You can either drop your dirty pooch off for a day at a the dog spa or do it your self. They have it all for you. Just bring your four legged friend. They provide the shampoo, conditioner, towels, perfume, blow dryer, combs etc to wash and pamper your pup. If you prefer them to do it just make a apt and come and pick up your pup all clean and pretty. They have snacks, toys and treats all to spoil you pet. This place is the best. read more

I don't leave my dogs with strangers, ever. My dogs get nervous with anyone new. Especially my heeler/pit mix. I took my dogs here, one of them for a regular service, nail trimming, teeth cleaning & bath. The other for a full work up including a haircut. It took roughly an hour and a half. My border collie rottie mix was a fluffy mess! His tail was getting pretty matted and he was shedding pretty badly in this heat. We usually go to self serve dog washes because he is a shy guy, very unsure of and uneasy with strangers. Jenny was able to get me an appointment within 10 days after groomers were allowed to reopen- wow! Chuck (my dog) was a little nervous, but Jenny assured me that she had it under control and would use a chamomile lavender spray to help him stay calm. Just over 2 hours later and he looks GREAT! She was even able to trim his nails (which has literally never been done because he HATES IT). She bathed, brushed, furminated, and trimmed him and he's a NEW DOG. Definitely recommend! Great place. I found this groomers because it is close to my house. I started by taking my dogs only for a nail trim and glands done in between grooming visits. However, I called my old groomer to get the dogs in and they scheduled me 3 months out. I called Duke city and got in within the week. Liz does my dogs and she does an awesome job. They are kind and friendly and even took pictures for Christmas of the dogs. With go anywhere else. :) read more

No masks when mandated, and our 14 pound dog had several "scrapes" after grooming that were not there before. If you refuse to make during a mandate, you've already told me how little you care about others or their dogs. read more

This place was great! They were able to squeeze me in a day before, and were upfront with costs. They also seemed to be faster too. My dogs about 20 lbs and I think the cost was around $50 which, seems to be the average around here. I liked that when I picked him up he didn't have that generic wet/clean dog smell he sometimes gets at other places. Oh first time customers I believe get $5 bucks off too. It's also a cute little dog store as well, and even better there's a coffee/donut place RIGHT next to it you can chill for the hour or so while waiting for your doggo. read more

DCD is our second try in finding a great dog groomer and I think DCD is a winner! Our pooch was loving welcomed. Per the normal, he was shaky, but Jennifer and Mattie held him and spoke quietly to calm him. Mattie listened to my cut requests for our 13 lb Havenese, and he looked fantastic when I picked him up, neck scarf and all. I love that he was not caged. The shop is super clean and we will be back. The person at Duke City that responses to reviews absolutely lies when she doesn't get a good review. That is unfortunate because the older lady and her daughter that used to run this place never treated their customers badly. This place has not had receptionist and doesn't respond to phone calls for 3 days, I had to go in and make my appointment. The person with all the tattoos accused me of being late but the last dog I took in I brought in 20 minutes early. She accused me of not cancelling appointments and being a no show is another lie. I had an emergency and I had to go out of town, and I called and cancelled a day in advanced but how would they know that if they don't have a receptionist and don't check their messages for three days. I also got accused of not tipping. Tipping is optional and I am also grooming 3 dogs and my bill is almost $200 each time. I will not be verbally abused. And I will fight back against lies. Reviews are important these days and people rely on them when making a decision. Businesses should not get to lie just because they get a bad a review. Great place! Staff was very nice and helpful. They were so gentle with doing my pup's nails. Their dog wash was very clean and easy to use. I love the aprons they provided so I could stay dry. Their shampoo and conditioner did not irritate my dog's skin at all. And they had a great selection of natural treats as well. THe prices were totally reasonable. These folks are the best! We were having work done on our RV and while waiting, ventured out to the post office. We had called the usual chain pet stores about grooming our kids but they said we would need to leave them for 4-5 hours... So we noticed Duke City while driving by, pulled in and met doggie pampering at its best. Not only did they work us in and give direction to lunch spots, they finished our girl up before Wendy's even had our order done and she is gorgeous! I went here for the first time yesterday because my dogs were filthy and their claws were getting too long. I saw they had a self serve dog wash, and my pups hate baths so i figured this would be easier then using my bathtub at home. I was blown away by how great it was. It was incredibly easy and everyone was incredibly helpful considering this was my first time at a self serve. They were all very friendly to my dogs. The tubs were easy to use and they had shampoo, conditioner, face cleaner and even a spray to use to make them smell fantastic! They also had a shampoo specifically for my all white dog. They also had driers you could use yourself which i opted out of because the water stresses my dogs our enough and I knew that would scare them more. They also let me assist with the nail filing, which made me feel better that i could be there to calm my dogs. (They absolutely hate people touching their feet.) To top it off they're also local and very reasonably priced (only fifteen dollars for a large dog.) Aside from the treat/food store they also have grooming and were grooming another dog while I was there. The absolute care they gave towards the other dogs was duper refreshing, so if you prefer to get your dog groomed they did a wonderful job on the long haired dog that was there. (She even got bows!) I highly recommend anyone to go here for your pet needs. I will definitely be returning. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with my experience! Amy and her staff were extremely professional and friendly! The full-grooming price was very affordable and they were gracious enough to give us a $5 discount as a first-time customer. The inside of the store was very clean. I loved that Amy kept in contact with me via email regarding my appointment, and when my dog was ready to be picked up. We took our dog here to be groomed today. Because of our travel schedule, we have been to dozens of groomers across the Western US and Duke City is one of the best experiences we've had. After talking with the owner, the trainer and the groomer, I had no qualms about leaving our fur baby in their capable hands. Our extra large Akita Gus had his first grooming at Duke City Doggery and he apparently loved every second of it! He was well-taken-care-of the entire time he was there, got amazing service, and came home very happy and perfectly groomed. Can't say enough great things about how great the ladies at DCD were with him and how much he apparently loves them. He'll definitely be a regular (the prices are outstanding, too!) and we'll see how long-coat Akita Luke will do next. So happy to find a new groomer for our Akitas! read more
