I've had 2 experiences thus far with Pet Vet Market & both have been really great. My first experience was visiting for the shot clinic. I'll start by saying this offering is incredibly admirable. The clinic is adorable and doesn't require reservations. I stopped by with my 2 pups and the experience was pretty stressful and long. I waited for ~1.5 hours outside in the summer and it wasn't comfortable. During the wait there was a dog that joined the wait whom was pretty aggressively barking- which set off heaps of dogs. But again I want to reiterate that they are doing great things with having this clinics & with it being open, of course it's to be expected that there will be a long wait and a few potentially uncomfortable situations. Today was my 2nd time heading in & it was to try the self dog wash area. It was my first time trying this VS heading to the groomers & the experience was great! There grooming products provided worked well & both the cleaning/drying stations were clean and safe. I called day of to see if an appt was available and they squeezed me in. Today happened to also be another shot clinic & this one looked a lot more enjoyable. Folks were allowed to wait inside and no dogs seemed to be barking at one another. So I'd say it's worth trying out & if the line is around the building/it's stressful; try to attend a different day. I'll be back to clean my pups on a regular basis! read more

Have been buying pet food and supplies here for over 20 years. The owners are always very helpful and friendly. I appreciate the buyer programs that help save money on high quality foods for my Great Danes. I'm always treated well by all of the staff. Tried other places due to proximity but always came back to PetVet on Montgomery. By the way, a few years ago my husband and I were in an accident. The owner himself delivered our dog food (we live in the East Mountains), and even poured it into our airtight containers, free of charge. Why would I go anywhere else? We were online looking for a low cost shot clinic to get our dog vaccinated. It is really hard during these uncertain times to find something when other places have turned us away due to reaching capacity. Thankfully, we gave Pet Vet a call. They told us that they hold these low cost pet vaccine clinics on Sunday's. It may have been a far drive for us and our beloved canine but oh my goodness it was so worth it. We waited in line under a shaded awning and were greeted by friendly staff members. They took us in and treated our dog so well. I took my 7 m.o. St Bernard to get a nail trim, he's only had his nails trimmed once before and he was being a handful, to put it lightly. The staff was so patient with him and gave me pointers on desensitizing and teaching him behavioral correction. After the nail trim battle, he was in desperate need for a bath and the staff let me take him straight to the DIY dog wash, which I wasn't scheduled for but they had an opening and were gracious to let me wash him. If I could leave no stars I would. Today I brought my shepherd in for a bath, I had to also bring our small Pomeranian mix because he gets nervous alone at home, I was invited back to the bathing area and washed and dried my Shepherd and then proceeded to go down the treat isle and grab a bag of treat's. Upon walking toward the counter I was told by Marianna Z, " I can get you here." Upon walking to the counter she told me, " your Dog just peed!" I said "really" and looked back and indeed my little one had peed next to a small table at the end of the isle. I then said "oh your right do you have a paper towel and I'll wipe it up?" She rudely snapped back "I'll get it but I just wanted you I know because he also did it when he came in!" (With a nice bit of attitude). I didn't see him do this and would have been happy to clean it up as any dog owner knows cleaning up after our animals is part of being a pet owner no problem! So is responded "ok well allow me to clean it up." she said (again with attitude) "I already did! He does this every time he comes in here!" I found this interesting as the little dog hasn't been in this store in over two years! We take him to a groomer and we only bath our shepherd there and that is rarely. So I asked her " really?" She responded "yes!" At this point the attitude and lack of basic customer service is really getting under my skin. I don't like being treated like this esp when I have offered to clean up after my dog. I then asked "when was the last time you saw him in here?" She stated " you bring him in to bath him all the time!" (With her customary attitude). I said no he hasn't been in here in years! So I can only come to the conclusion that she wanted to try and publicly shame me infront of other staff and customers, so I again said well give me a towel and I'll wipe it up, I admit at this point I was pissed and she said very snappy "I'll get it! I don't have anything to give you!" So I asked her name, she said "Marianna". I asked "can I speak to your manager?" At this point I think it started to dawn on her I was going to file a complaint. She said " there isn't a manager here." I said "ok well can I have the managers number please?" She said "I don't give out the managers number?" She was worried now because she could see I was not happy with her behavior towards me. I then said "ok what is the manager or owners name?" She was hesitant and the said "joey". I asked "when will Joey be in tomorrow?" She stated "he won't be in until next week." I said "ok I will be giving him a call". And walked out! I will be following up and hope "joey". Can give Marianna some training in customer service, I also plan on asking if my dog is the first to ever pee in his store? read more

No Ol' Roy or Caesars can be found here. With that said, the biggest draw to me is the self wash dog wash. Why make your house a mess cleaning man's best friend when it can be done here? It's awesome! It's the main reason I come here and would suggest the Eubank location having a better set up. My ONLY knock is the price of everything. Was in town for a dog show over the weekend. To save time, I opted to bath the dogs when I arrived in town. Found the Pet Vet Market where I had access to a great basic grooming set up. Nice, deep steel tubs, and they HydroSurge bathing systems. Force dryers worked well (don't get me wrong, I still prefer mine). Had all my brushes, etc with me, so I didn't use theirs. Do appreciate that while my boy decided to drop all of his undercoat, someone was vacuuming so hair didn't become a slip hazard. Very reasonable prices. Am going to consider using these guys again when I'm in town. And the grooming worked, as both of my guys did some nice winning! read more

I used to love bathing my dog here. One day we were shopping for treats and one of the clerks thought he was cute... and she PICKED UP my dog to pet him without permission! This is how you get mauled-- by incorrectly handling a strange animal you do not know and are meeting for the first time! She is fortunate that my dog is laid back and did not snap at her, but they really should not be hiring people who do not know how to handle dogs to work at a pet supply store/grooming station. I know that Feb 2020- Feb 2021 is the year of the Rat but I swear in my house it has been the year of the Dog. For the past eleven months at least one of my three dogs has had to go to the vet either for illness, allergies, grooming or maintenance. The most recent (and hopefully last) one for this time frame was to update our Boxer's shot records. I love that Pet Vet has a low cost shot clinic about twice a month and I absolutely LOVE the Veterinarian that performs this service. She is absolutely amazing and attentive with my pups and they love her right back. Today's line was exceptionally long but not so long that it turned me away. They have a pretty speedy set-up to get everyone checked in and served. The line wrapped around the building enforcing social distancing and mandatory masks. I love this PetVet location so much. All of the employees go above and beyond to serve you and the Veterinarian is exceptional! You can really tell when somebody loves their job. read more

I love this place! What's not great about bathing your big 'ol dog there and then leaving the mess? They have big stainless steel tubs, shampoo and conditioner, aprons, towels, and brushes. Then there's the drying station. When you're done with the wash blow dry your dog using a powerful blower (think reverse shop vac). They have combs, brushes, and conditioner too. I've been going to Pet Vet for almost 10 years. They recommend a vet to me when I first moved here who is a cat specialist. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have spent a good deal of time with me offering suggestions and answering questions. The new location on Eubank is a bit more convenient for me now and, frankly, they have the best prices in town. In addition, none of their dry foods, at least for cats, contain wheat, soy or corn, nor do they stock foods made with byproducts. I'm really grateful they're here in Albuquerque. read more

Ajax the very famous book store dog is under going a surgical procedure tomorrow and we wanted to get him a bath before. We went to our regular dog wash place and we were twenty minutes too late. They close at 5 but the last wash is 4 and we were there at 4:20. We explained to the nice young man behind the counter and he said if was up to him he would do it but he has to ask the manager. We again explained to the manager Aja, the surgery, the drive, the long time customer deal. And she said no. I said really and explained again and said we would be out of there before five. She said she would compromise and let us bathe him, but not dry him. Same price. We said ok and then we proceeded to get him up on the table to brush him and she said no way no brushing. So we were skunked and as we were leaving she pipes up with an awfully rude "Have wonderful day" as we were leaving. She said it with such an ugly smirking tone so I halted my exit and said that was uncalled for and she should tame her tongue. She says "oh I really mean it I want to you have a wonderful day." I said you know my predicament and it's not likely I'm going to have a wonderful day now and you are being awful here. And she says as her final quip "your poor planning does not make it an emergency for me" and then I said nice attitude. Excellent quip, I'm sure you've been practicing. So then we left. read more

The customer is NOT always right at Pet Vet Market My friend and I stopped by on our way to a dog show in Los Lunas. This place takes the "customer" out of customer service. Having called ahead from the road to get their hours of operation, specifically for the dog wash, I was told that I could arrive as last as 6PM and would need to leave by 7PM. Since these hours were more favorable for the original location we planned to go to, we changed plans and went to Pet Vet. Surprise! While the 6PM time was right, it turns out we had to leave by 6:30PM not 7PM. That's not really the issue... The issue is what happened when we got there. First, the girls (and I do mean girls not woman) came out to our car when we didn't come in immediately to ask if we were going to use the bathing facility or not. This was not done in a polite, how can I help you? way. It was almost accusatory. I was then insulted by this comment: "Well, you need to get started because you have to be done by 6:30" When I expressed my disappointment that I had been given the wrong information on the phone, the girls essentially said that was impossible. They did admit that there was a communication issue; however, they would not take ownership. First asking who I spoke to, then insisting that one of them had been that person and that the other had overhead the conversation. They told me & my friend that we were not only wrong but that we were rude! They harassed us continually to remind us that they were right and we were wrong. It was a horrible experience overall and ended with us unloading our own dryers and finishing up on the sidewalk in front of the building after hours. I chose this store based on other reviews and was unbelievably disappointed. All that was really needed was a sincere apology for the misunderstanding. So as I read the other reviews, I cannot imagine that we were in the same place...Super helpful? NOT. Super cool setup? NOT The floor was unbelievably slippery under the wet dog feet!
