I recently boarded my two Great Pyrenees puppies for the first time over the holiday weekend, and the experience was deeply disappointing. After five days at the facility, I picked them up to find one covered in feces on her tail and hindquarters, while the other seemed traumatized--she tried to hide under a tree as the staff brought her out. Once home, both dogs voraciously drank an entire 3L bowl of water and devoured two full bowls of food, suggesting they may have been neglected in terms of basic care. My smaller girl is still not back to her energetic self; she's unusually weak and uninterested in play. Whatever occurred during their stay, it's clear this kennel failed to provide adequate attention and hygiene. I would never recommend or return to this place--pet owners, beware. read more

Picked up my dog after boarding and grooming on his last day, and was then informed that he did have 2 seizures during grooming. (Had not had a seizure in over a year and a half). The first seizure occurred in the bath, groomer stated that once it was over, she proceeded with blow drying him! That induced a second seizure! They did not bother to call me after the first seizure, I would have picked him up immediately. Instead, they exhibited poor judgment and care...Took my dog to the veterinarian the next morning, and was advised to avoid this kennel at all costs, as they have seen MULTIPLE pets over this past month, following boarding at Corrales Kennels. read more

I have been using this place for grooming for years. I just used it for kenneling for the first time with my 1.5 yr. old pup. She was very happy and well taken care of when I picked her up. And she had detailed feeding instructions LOL. I had her groomed the last day and they did a fantastic job. Cindy is the groomer. My dog is a 95 lb. Bernese Mtn. Dog with lots of hair and had an undercoat. They brushed all of it out for the upcoming warm weather and her feet trim and nails were so well done. Loved their services and customer service as well. The worst grooming ever..My dog looks awful the instructions were to do a full body cut leaving the tail alone with Schnauzer face I got a Schnauzer face with crooked eyebrows one side of his face has a lot of hair the other side just has a few hairs the body was not even cut so it looks really bad there's a tiny little head and a bushy body would not recommend to anyone when I made a review on my dog's stay. They had it erased with no attempts to correct not till the 2nd review..False advertisement on price it say 20$ and charged 40$ a night read more

I board my precious mini schnauzer at Corrales Kennel now for the past three years without any issues. The staff is always pleasant they seem to be people that genuinely care about my lil guy. Nico comes home tired, (possibly from all of the barking) but in a day he springs back! I trust them with the care of my dog. Five Stars!! read more

I was really anxious about leaving my dog for a week while visiting my daughter in California. I called Corrales Kennel and talked to Dan, who invited me out for a tour. He was very personable and put me at ease. When I arrived Alex took me on a tour of the facilities and I knew this was the place I wanted Taj, my dog, to stay. They offer dog grooming, so I had Taj groomed the day I was to pick her up. Sheri, the groomer, is fantastic and did a fabulous job! I intend to have Taj groomed at Corrales Kennels as well as stay there whenever I am out of town. Been bringing my dogs here every month for at least 4 years. It's been the same staff since day 1. So it's like a second family for them. My one dog doesn't even look back when she gets there. She's so excited. Really nice place. Great for any dog but especially older ones who need a quieter atmosphere. read more

We took our dog here for grooming 3 times. Sherry, the groomer gave us so much attitude the first time that we wouldn't have come back, but our dog came out very silky and clean. So we tried it another time. Same attitude and our dog was clearly stressed out when we picked her up. We decided not to return, but they had a way with her long hair, and she was getting matts in her coat so we tried again. This time, we showed up for our scheduled appointment and were informed that the grooming room was unusable that day and they had known since the previous night but had not bothered to call and let us know. Corrales Kennel was a good place... I have had my dog there 2 times ... quite a number of years ago and about 3 years ago. 3 years ago, the prices were some of the lowest in the ABQ area.. Recently checked out prices and they are now very high... If they had raised prices like a normal business would in 3 years, they should still be less than $20.00 a day $27 a day is too much... they are matching the Canine Country Club/Feline Inn on 4th street. I was to that kennel over twenty years ago, and the next time I wanted to go there it was too expensive. Then tried Zoe's in Rio Rancho. Zoe's was ok, 3 or 4 . times. It was ok until I got my 2nd dog and then boarded them together. 2nd dog was young and grew a lot while I was gone for maybe 10 days and dog grew from about 40 pounds to 50 pounds. So the caged area... kennel they were in was too small for dogs that size. They could have called me and told me about this and I would have paid for the next larger size. So I was done with Zoe's. My dog that grew was about 2.5 years old. Boarding is about more than just the cost. though.All of the kennels have to be clean, I have to like the owners and I check them out without my dog also. Also if I see any employees they have to be pleasant. I have other criteria too ... Also I would check out Yelp reviews. If at all possible my dog or dogs travel with me.. I did find the La Quinta hotel chain, at least in Arizona and Texas did not have lots of restrictions and charged... nothing for people with well behaved dogs. Most hotels charge an extra deposit that is not always refundable, a cleaning fee and/or a nightly fee.. Pet resorts and dog spas are great but, I don't stay in motels that cost $180+...so I think they have a niche market.. I have better things to spend my money on than dog and people resorts.. lodging. ABQ and the area, is not a cheap place to live, and many services and things consumers buy are overpriced.. I guess there is just not enough competition.. mctripat read more

I really like this place, and I'm a very protective pet parent! I have boarded my cat here several times over the last couple of years, including extended stays (several weeks). She is a very timid indoor cat who usually cries at the door when I leave the house every morning, but she looks right at home as soon as she steps into her warm indoor kitty condo. When I pick her up, she's pretty ambivalent, so this tells me she enjoys her time at the kennel and isn't desperate to get back home. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and her space is always kept clean even when I've shown up unannounced. Her toys get visible usage while I'm away, which is fantastic because some of the other pet hotels in town will charge you a lot of money for 15 minutes of play time with your pet. At Corrales they all seem to really enjoy bonding with the cats and dogs and treat them like family :) Even though my cat is pretty ordinary looking, everyone remembers her and her little personality quirks. There are usually vacancies for last minute reservations, and a nice discount for stays longer than two weeks. I would recommend this place to other people who love their pets! read more

A great place to go for dog training! Cindy Fraley is awesome! She has a lot of experience, she's patient, very knowledgeable about dog behavior, and explains things very well. She encourages the use of your voice, positive reinforcement, and praise to reward your dog rather than relying on food or treats. Classes are held on a grass lawn under shade trees. I would recommend her dog training class any day. read more

Getting ready to bring my precious Grover for the fifth or so time. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Best yet, Grover is happy to go and happy to return. Since I'm usually staying with friends nearby who can't handle my 90lb Pyrakit (Pyrenees/Akita), I've enjoyed checking him out during the day for recreation and bringing him back for dinner and bedtime without the hassle some other facilities can give.
