Unfortunately, I am so happy to do this. Duke's is a good laundry service. They basically get the job done and Thaddeus has the best customer service and positive energy at every pick up and drop off. However, for the amount of business they generated from our company, I must say this was THE MOST unprofessional business ever. This was due solely to the owner/manager Talia. Over a span of 2 months of servicing out large group, the company has lost several of our crew members laundry; whether it be a few individual items or WHOLE bags. I called one day to inquire about a missing laundry for one of my coworkers, and was rudely, unfairly and unprofessionally, verbally attacked my Talia.
She claimed that because of my inquiry about the missing laundry that she found my texts to her rude, when we've had a report for over a few weeks dealing with each other. She blamed my age, went on to call me unprofessional, blatantly disrespectful and told me that I was to never contact her again before hanging up in my face. It doesn't end there though. After she hung up on me, I texted her back and told her that the conversation was very unprofessional of her as a business owner and that if she was feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, she should learn how to communicate and voice that properly next time.
She didn't respond, but instead an hour later she pulled up to our hotel and came inside (even though we are in a bubble per covid protocols), to come and speak to "one of my managers" and give me another verbal lashing in person. She was escorted out by security promptly and spoken to by my counterpart before leaving. Ms. Talia via text message (these are the rude text messages she was talking about lol) asked me who were my supervisors/managers, so that she could talk to them prior to her calling me. I kindly asked her what it was about (truly confused), so that I could direct her to the right person because we have a large team. She told me that, that was a conversation for the higher ups and not myself. I informed her that we are a group of freelancers and there were some people who left already, so if she could give me a name, I could tell her if that was the right person to contact. Once again, I wasn't being rude and I genuinely was going to give her the info because I had nothing to be afraid about. I did nothing wrong. More so, I had to spend $500 replacing the clothes her company lost for one of our guys. She has not discounted us that money back, nor has she owned up to the fact that sometimes things happen and could have misplaced the clothes, nor did she issue an apology for her very POOR behavior. Instead, she blamed us and said that one of our other employees may have taken his clothes (unlikely) and that if we didn't have the sense to pick up our bags the day they're dropped off then that's not her fault. She said once the clothes leave her facility and are handed off that has nothing to do with her, but this is incorrect. If clothes are missing it IS IN FACT your fault. I have had so many employees call and text me about missing clothes and items for the past three weeks, and I can't do anything about it because I am respecting Ms. Talia's wishes by not contacting her ever again.
All and all, Talia needs to stay on the back end of things, and hire people more qualified to deal with large contracts or customers in general on a daily basis. She and only she, prompted this review from me. Everyone is a potential customer. Everyone has the power to comment on your business. I wrestled with writing this review because she is a black owner with a business that is growing. However, after careful consideration, I realized that my own race cannot be held to different standards because of the color of our skin. I write reviews for a lot of establishments and they are solely based on the service provided to me. Do better. The star is really for the other employees. read more
