This place needs to go out of business. Stopped in at breakfast time, and to get gas. First they charge over 40 cents more for gas than the circle k a few exits down ($2.89 versus $2.45). At 8 am they had one biscuit for sale, plus a few burritos. Way overpriced. $3 for the smallest biscuit I ever saw, and $5 for a small burrito. A small soft drink was $3. Poor quality and outrageous prices. Run don't walk to somewhere else read more

Pulled in thinking it was a sit-at-the-table-and-server-will-take-your-order-place but it wasn't. No problem the BBQ took our order quickly and got it right out, basically as we watched. Not disappointed. Dog park was nice. our dog is a service animal but we don't push it with food places unless we need to so Jazzy stayed in car--it was getting dark and temp was good. read more

My last review for dukes was 5 years ago. I've since made this stop my must stop shop for avoiding Buc-ees. (As well as) Keeping me from stopping in the DFW. I've eaten at the taco casa and Craft 64 (next door). And intend on eating at the pizza place next. Still a great place to eat, stretch your legs, walk the dog. Pee, gas up. first thing $10 for overnight parking so then I have barbecue at Dukes. These guys must not eat their own food. I have double mac & cheese it taste like it was eating salt. So then I have a brisket mostly fat. The guy told me it was extremely moist. I told him it was nothing but fat he was. offended then I have the pork ribs. This is one of the nicest travel plazas I've visited on a road trip. It offers better food and snacks than Buc-ees and a great selection of craft beer. There's also a pizza restaurant, craft burger place and a spot for a food truck. On my last stop I found a great Texas beer to bring home to Florida -- Karbach Hopadillo IPA -- and a Stuckey's candy display with a pecan log and burnt peanuts. Next time I'm looking for the tamales and pimento cheese sandwiches. One thing I wish they offered was a spin rack of paperback books. I'm always looking for something new to read. read more

This place was an absolute disappointment. What a waste of pulling Off the highway. Went on Friday night @ 9:15 for food and restrooms. They had restrooms shut down for cleaning and both restaurants were Closed. Seriously Dukes- you need to understand your customers. Your in a major freeway. I am a truck driver that drives I-20 on a daily basis. Dukes BBQ in Canton is the only restaurant I frequent on my trips. I only eat real food, generally preparing my food in advance and bringing it with me. Before choosing Dukes BBQ in Canton, I tried all of their easily available competitors. The service you get at Dukes in Canton is hands down the best available. You're not walking into a business. The manager/owner Tariq at that location treats people like guests invited into his home. Over the past year, I've watched how he treats his guests, how he builds relationships and gets to know his regulars. There's a warm and friendly smile and a generosity of spirit that cannot be faked. Stopping at Dukes is the highlight of my week on a number of levels. And it's not just the customers ... there's the development of staff. Management leads by example. Managers are not above carrying out the trash or sweeping the floor in the lobby. All that matters is that his customers get the dining experience they deserve. So you shouldn't be surprised that in the spare moments staff has between customers, they, too, are finding ways to stay busy. There is never a smudge or a drip or dropped piece of food on the stainless steel where food is served. The place is SPOTLESS ... immaculately clean. Employees actually hustle ... they actually CARE. How uncommon is that! Over the years, I've found that the best businesses aren't run by someone who "cracks the whip" and barks out orders. It's run by someone who has a deep and ongoing commitment to developing their staff. There is very little turnover of employees at this location. More commonly, you will talk to employees who share that they are being PROMOTED. If you were to ask, there are a number of the employees who have been there for years. This only happens in a business where management treats staff as well as they treat their customers ... fairly, with warmth and generosity of spirit, good communication (both ways, right?) and with a meticulous eye for detail. The food, of course, is *amazing* ... I am in awe of the consistency, where day after day, experience after experience, Duke's BBQ knocks the ball out of the park. If you have the chance, stop into the Dukes in Canton and have a meal. It's a really special place, and I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

This was definitely the proverbial oasis in the dessert after such a long drive! We stopped in on a Sunday in late May around 9:30pm at night and were able to get everything we needed to continue on home. At this time, their BBQ place was already closed and the employee seemed to be finishing up cleaning as I entered. Luckily the Taco Casa was still open, although I neglected to ask what time they closed. That entire area had low lighting, so they may have been getting ready to close at 10pm, but they were quick to greet me politely and provide me with food ASAP. I took it to go but there were plenty of tables/booths if you were sick of your car and wanted to dine in. Besides the restaurants, this is setup like a truck stop including showers. In addition to the restaurant food, they had a small cooler with prepackaged sandwiches and snacks and plenty of the typical convenience store goodies you find in a gas station. On my way to the restroom I noticed they sell some clothing, jerky and had a knife shop! Luckily my husband didn't use the same entrance when we traded off the dogs for a restroom break or we would've never made it home! The restrooms were clean with trough sinks and sensory soap dispensers that actually work. I noticed at the end of the restroom a family sized stall but it had a full door and changing station inside. Well that's super convenient and I wonder if the men's room is also equipped with one? Maybe, it was late and my husband doesn't notice those details when he hasn't been driving for hours- so no hope in ever finding out. Outside was a small dog park. We didn't use it but I did see a couple let their older dog loose and it seemed like enough room for your dog to stretch their legs and relieve themselves. Four dogs would probably be too crowded unless they are part of the same family. There were also other grassy areas in case it's in use and your pet isn't good with unfamiliar dogs. The parking lot and pumps were very well lit, thank God! There were plenty of pumps and trash cans and this 20 minute stop cleared out some of our trash, got us some nourishment and caffeine and allowed us to continue on home safely. I've been travelling more often than I like lately, and typically take a couple of road trips a year anyway. I've stopped at a lot of undesirable places over the years, but this travel center is one I look forward to returning to. read more

I just love convenience stores in Texas. At least in this part of Texas. They are huge. This one has a lot of construction going on and sums of the things we're hard to see the process so that's what stops it from being a higher rating. This is a great gas station. It is one of the cleanest gas stations there is around. It is really big and is not crammed tight in there. The bathrooms are really clean and nice. This gas station has lots of decorations around and is not just plain old walls. There is a huge variety of food and drinks there. It is also full of other things like toys, paintings, and anything you could need on the go. Overall this is one of the best gas stations and I would definitely recommend going to if you need to stop somewhere in Canton. read more

I always stop here when I go to Tyler to see family from Dallas. They gave great food and interesting little knick knacks. The food is slightly above what you would expect from a little BBQ travel spot. $13 for a two meat plate. Dukes has the largest selection of merchandise compared to any gas station I've ever been to. They're not just a gas station though, the signs tell you a little more - BBQ & Taco Casa are here as well! While I didn't try the BBQ this time, I will soon. I've had Taco Casa in Arlington and this one is just about the same. Large sized items that are a little bit more expensive but they do have smaller versions of burritos & tacos. They obviously take pride in their cheese, it's always liked on! The rest of the store has always been clean when I've stopped for gas or restroom breaks. The restroom is very large with stalls at each toilet/urinal. The toilets have wooden doors on them, I think that was a nice gentleman's touch. Dyson dryers are always fun so feel free to use them & help diminish your carbon footprint on Duke's dollar! I've posted several pictures of the snacks, drinks & candy/sweets they offer so feel free to take sleek at them. I tried to take some panoramic shots but they're not very good.
