I was making my way through Dallas on my way home down 175 so we stopped in this little hole in the wall barbecue joint I was first, but I got the special with sliced brisket the spicy beans and the cold salad and a soda and let me tell you. I was more than just impressed. It was delicious. For the amount of food for the price we had two plates identical $26 fantastic what a meal I didn't eat for the rest of the day. Sweetest waitress! Baked potatoes are a serious size and generously topped. Beef was a little dry but sauce was really tasty. Spicy pinto beans were more of a baked bean and loaded with meat. Tasty potato salad but didn't care for the mac and cheese- bland cheese sauce. Prices were reasonable for the value. read more

I had to keep reminding myself that this is East Texas style bbq, having been so ingrained with the Central Texas stuff. Still, most of the meats were excellent, especially the spare ribs which were very succulent. On the other hand, the chicken was a bit dry. I also really liked the sausage. We had ordered the sampler plate to share, not realizing it was a meal for one. No wonder the sides were small! Fortunately, none of us are big eaters so we were fine. The potatoes and beans were very good too. As for dessert ... GET THE BANANA PUDDING! Subtle, right? Really good stuff. Finally, the folks inside are really friendly and service was quick. read more

My mom and I took one of our best friends and her husband here for our friend's birthday lunch and had a great experience! The food was so good and the service was wonderful!! The gal at the front counter was also the server and just about everything else except the chef and she did everything with the most uplifting attitude, smiling and joking and just making everyone at our table feel as if we were family. Everything, except the bathroom. The best BBQ I've had in north tx. It is excellent. We tried a little bit of everything. Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and ribs... I mean, the ribs!!!! So good. And the house made bbq sauce went well with all of it. The collard greens, potato salad, Cole slaw, jalapeño corn, all great. The green beans, weren't as good, plain salted, fine, but not like the rest of the sides. Everyone that worked there was nice and friendly. Totally enjoyable experience, but when I went to the bathroom, it left somethings to be desired. Definitely needs an upgrade, like a new toilet seat and cover and some tidiness. read more

We even found out from the owner, Shannon, that the scrumptiously sweet and tangy sauce was her Grand Mil's own special recipe. If a spicy sauce is more your jam, have no fear, they also have that! Sorry to post this but I was so surprised! Actually, for the first time I was disappointed in the chopped brisket sandwich yesterday ..... I know it's hard to believe but it was so salty and filled with burnt ends and very hard to chew that I just couldn't eat all of it. I hate to say it but again...very disappointed. Never got to try their food sadly. We had a very frustrating experience. We were in town from AZ for the holidays. We placed an order online for our family gathering two days prior to pickup. They processed our payment and sent email and text verification of when the order would be ready at their GBC location. We went to pick it up one the day and at the time it was due to be ready. Doors were locked, inside showed that they clearly were not open for service of any kind. We tried to call, no answer. We tried the other location but they were already closed. We had to pick up Dickey's last minute which was subpar. We made several attempts to contact the business for a refund and to express our displeasure but could not reach them or receive a return call. We had to go through our bank and make a claim to get a reversal. Maybe we will get to try their food next trip, because we have heard it is very good. But, they need to get their act together. 1/31/24 In response to the comment left by the business. I'm sure people who ordered from your OTHER LOCATION got their orders just fine like you say. You need to acknowledge that your website is not accurate when it lets someone order from a location that clearly is not open for business. I received a confirmation for the order at the GBC location as well. And, as for the phone call you said you made, we never got a call. And, you didn't refund the $150 when you say you made a call and someone said they didn't have an order. Nor did you reply to our voicemails which included our correct number again. read more

Stopped here per the yelp recs. For a small town bbq i guess its not horrible, but compared to other bbq we've had in TX, this was not good. Brisket had ok flavor but was very very salty. The sides were a tiny serving size (if your a man get an extra side) and just not very good. Mac n cheese had a vinegar taste, pinto beans were bland but salty, potato salad was ok, and twice baked potatoes had a strange texture with chewy skins. The one really good thing was the bbq sauce! Had high hopes based on previous reviews but was disappointed. The staff was super nice though! read more

This place made me claustrophobic. I am 76 years old and i have hard time walking around. I just wanted a good bbq place to sit and eat without having 30 people bump and run me over while i'm trying to peacefully enjoy my meal on a Thursday evening. I waited about 30 minutes for my meal at that. i have no problem with the food, i just wish service could be better. read more
