What a fun surprise. After trying to find a good burger (the Irish beef is very good) where we…read morecould have a gluten-free bun, we came upon Times Square. In all honesty, since we were in Ireland we almost skipped it. They had a sign saying gluten-free options were available so we tried it. The owner/operator was very proud of what he built. After spending a few days around Times Square I'm NYC, he opened. They offer a variety of NY,USA favorites. I ordered their double burger and fries, Kerrie had a single. The beef was wonderful. They use Schar gluten-free buns which I think are the best. We were the only tourists in the place and everyone wanted to talk to us. This is normal throughout Ireland - the people are friendly - they want to know your story and want to tell you theirs. We had a very nice time and the food was great. One thing about my pictures, the owner loves metal music. The walls are covered with album art. And he gives everyone markers so they can write something.

Stopped in here last night after doing some shopping in town. Have heard from friends and family…read moreit's a great spot and best burger in the area. It's a little small cozy little spot. Mostly a take-away spot but about 4/5 tables in the back area. Coffee/tea station and condiments on tables. Water is provided and there is the usual soda beverages to wash down the grub. First I have to say the bathroom is spectacular. Don't think I've ever seen a cleaner bathroom or nicer bathroom in a eatery establishment like this. Props for that. Everything is made fresh and with care. It'll be roughly a ten minute wait. It's a small open kitchen space and everything is put together with care. Upon the owner bringing over the dish, my eyes locked in and I stared to prepare for The Terminator. A giant monster of a burger: 2 patties, bacon, chili jam, fried onion rings, garlic mayo & cheese. Sweet Jesus. That's a lot to take in. But it's all put together so delicately and served like a piece or art. The chili jam is a great compliment to the burger bc it's sweet and goes perfect w the bacon and garlic mayo. I took one onion ring off to just eat it by itself. But that first bite into the burger is like biting into every little bit of happiness you ever had. It's messy so you'll need more than a few napkins but good god it was delicious. You can find decent burgers around town. But usually served well done or charred or they are processed. Meat here is all from a local butcher and you can taste it. This place is fairly new but once you're in there you'll see how great it is. A great addition to Kenmare and here's hoping it has great success. I'll be back.

Delicious & affordable fruit tarts (4/5 green stars) I…read morepicked up two tartlets from Heaven's Cakes in the English Market and wish I had bought more! They were only €2 each, which seems amazing really. They were both fruit-nut combinations - one had plums on top while the other had rhubarb and the nuts were pistachio and almond. Both were delicious and I have to say I preferred them to the tart I tried from the Queen of Tarts in Dublin a few days later. Heaven's cakes tarts and pastries are a little more rustic looking but I actually prefer them that way. I'm also giving them 4/5 "green stars" for social and environmental impact. Here are some pros and cons: Pro: *You're supporting an independent, family-run business. *They provide a simple paper bag (preferable to boxes with plastic windows). *They appear to support community events like a healthy eating day at a local school Cons: *I don't know much about their ingredients - would be nice to know a few things, e.g., are eggs free range? Any organic ingredients used? Where is fruit sourced? Etc. Interested in writing green star reviews? If so, contact me! (greenstarsproject)

My latest purchase consisted of two French style tartlets: one a Berry and Almond mix, the other of Lemon Curd (photo), €2.00 each. Both were delicious. Service is always good and, while the wrapping may not be quite up to the French standard, it is not far off it and, in any case, is totally adequate. Web is www. Heavenscakes.ie but it didn't work last time I tried it.
