I've seen their website and receive their catalog but was wary of ordering anything without seeing it in person, so on a trip to Madison, I wanted took a detour to their company store. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the store, in Mt. Horeb (in the old mustard museum space) is quite nice. Almost too nice. It's kind of like a Restoration Hardware but for clothing, if that makes sense. It's an odd juxtaposition because the clothing and accessories are "work clothes" made for hardworking jobs and activities, but the store features beautiful fixtures, leather furniture and a coffee bar. Not a bad thing, just not necessary in my mind. Does that mean this merchandise isn't really for actual work but for posers who want to look like they do work? Not sure. As for the clothing, it's not cheap, but the quality seems excellent. Great materials and construction and nice features. I was on the hunt for some really durable work pants--not an easy thing to find for this short lady. The firehose pants seems like the holy grail of what I was looking for. Alas, they did not make a small size that fit me. I realize this sounds like the kind of thing you want to punch other people for, "oh my hair is just too shiny. Oh my skin is just too soft" but I generally wear a 4 in other brands and their size 4 left quite a bit of room. I picked up a medium long-tail T-shirt for the Mr. and a Tall dress shirt for him as well. The dress shirt will have to go back because they only make a Large/Tall and really a Medium/Tall is what he needs. But they don't make Medium/Talls. Why no love for the more slender folk? read more

I loved Duluth Trading until December. Something has happened to their previously stellar customer service. Shipping used to be speedy, but I got someone else's order at Christmas. The package label said Iowa, but it was shipped to Ohio. Go figure. I sent it back. I asked where my original order was. They promised to get it to me. It is now five weeks later and still has not arrived. Meanwhile, I returned some pajamas I had gotten in December, wanting an exchange, but they have not arrived either. Something must be happening at the top. This was such a trustworthy company. Not any more. I am tall. I depend on their longer T-shirts, but I'm very close to quitting them for good. read more

The products seem well made (although overpriced). My main compliant is the slow delivery and rude customer service. I ordered some underwear during a sale with free shipping and its been over two weeks and no underwear. I called customer service and I think my wife answered because all she did was argue with me. I explained how long it had been and she went on about how free shipping takes longer and if I wanted it sooner I should have paid for faster shipping. Also the ten days she said it takes for delivery is ten business days(as if that matter to a package in transit). My order shipped three days after I placed it so they don't count she said. By the time I got it straightened out, the sale expired and even though their web page caused the problem, they would not honor the sale or even apologize for the time wasted with their poor technology. Confirm the free shipping promo-codes with a live representative!? Twice I typed and applied the code on separate orders, received order conformation on the amount I agreed to pay, and twice my Visa was overcharged just before the orders shipped. Customer service attempted to convince me that I had blundered when finalizing the order - not true - I had the final conformation invoice on file a day before the overcharge was ever applied. DTC did credit my account, but funds are never returned so quickly as they are extracted and had I only enough money in checking to cover the agreed upon "confirmed" price; I would have been fined $35.00 dollars for insufficient funds from US Bank. This penalty fee is not compensated for in the DTC "No Hassle No Bull" guarantee. read more

I have ordered some items in the past and was satisfied until now. My daughter gave me a gift card for Christmas so I went shopping. I ordered 3 items on the 5th. I recieved a order confirmation and then a shipping confirmation. All good so far. The shipping confirmation said all three items were in stock. I recieved the package several days later and the most expensive item on the shipment was not in the box. I did not receive a back order email or anything saying the item was not available. I have now talked to 5 people at Duluth and can not get anyone to send me my item. Everyone keeps telling me they're in stock but no one can seem to ship them to me. The quality and toughness of the items here is really top notch! The Ballroom Jeans are probably the best built pair of jeans I've ever seen in my life. The Barenaked boxer underwear fit a bit too much like boxer briefs for my taste and I would have liked for them to have been looser but perhaps if I order a larger size up they will fit more like my traditional boxers that I like. The material of the Barenaked boxers is outstanding and I really like it so I hope I can find a fit I like. They shipping was among the fastest I've ever experienced and I received my package several days ahead of schedule. I just made my first (online) order from this company. The item I bought was not right for my needs. Sadly, I spent nearly an hour trying to make the arrangements for a return. First I tried the online system. It asks you for the order number. The order number was on the full page receipt twice, but font size was about 9pt, and printed in lightface. To make matters worse, their order numbers start with two alpha characters "SO". Mine was SO00203227. Imagine trying to enter that into their systems when you can barely see the number to begin with. So it took two tries to get it right because it was so difficult seeing the difference between Os and zeros and I still got an error message. So I tried their chat. Waited ten minutes to get a response and then the screen disappeared. Finally called and after ten or fifteen minutes got a call back and what I needed for a return. My wife and I have been buying from Duluth Trading for years and turning others, like my good friend Jeff, on to their fine products. I have t-shirts (their longtail t's are great; fit well, wear well) , polo shirts, trousers, work jeans, jackets, hats, rain gear, sweatshirts, lunchboxes, tool bags, tools, doo dads and gifts, too. I wear their Smokejumpers Belt every day to work and have a back-up for weekends. I have been using one of their Louie's Lunchboxes for over two years with no problems and my co-workers liked it so much, we have seven on the table now. My mother-in-law uses their gauntleted garden gloves to trim her roses and I carry my woodworking tools in one of their bags, my metal and auto tools in another. They have excellent customer service, too. Returns are a snap and if you've used something and are unhappy with it, they make it up to you with a return, exchange or replacement. They have an offer all the time too; buy $50.00 worth of gear, get a free hat or knife, etc. They change stock often and if you see something and want it, get it or it will be gone. They also update items often. Their popular grab jacket, which my dear wife has and loves, is likely on it's fifth or sixth iteration. They listen to their customers and make changes to their stuff. This can be a bit of a drawback because we a) buy something we want before it's gone and then b) watch it get better with the feedback! Watch for sales and internet deals and you can often get good items and gifts dirt cheap. Some people don't like that there are illustration vs. photos in their catalog (with the exception of their new women's clothing line which is presented via photos) but all in all, the illustrations are very precise. read more

I'm shocked at the negative reviews, frankly. I ordered a leather purse and in just 48 hours, it was delivered and in perfect condition. It was exactly what I wanted and made of high quality. I've already had a number of compliments on the purse. Yes, it was expensive, but you can see from top to bottom how well it was put together. The purse even came in a beautiful cloth bag. They told me a second one was going to be shipped 2nd day UPS air but that that they couldn't give me any tracking information. Used to love them, but they've really been going down hill in a competitive marketplace. The prices are high relative to the cheaper competition, but that's not the problem. The problem is value. I would happily pay the higher price if they still gave the value. Here is the value I expect for my hard-earned greenbacks: 1. Consistency. When I find something I like, I want to be able to come back next year and order the same thing in the same size, click, click, done. Unfortunately, they change their offerings faster than a NASCAR pit crew changes a tire. 2. Quality. They are mostly OK, but I've now had several items that are clearly not the size on the label (eg., order two identical pairs of pants; one fits, the other doesn't). I haven't had that happen from other big retailers. My wife had elastic fail in a matter of weeks on items that had previous lasted years. She complained and was told Duluth would replace the items, but they never did. 3. Returns. EVERYONE does free returns these days to get around the problem that you can't see and touch the item before buying. Duluth is now charging $7.99 and calling it "NO BULL GUARANTEE". Well, I call BULL. 4. Speed. The competition, based further away from me, gets things to my doorstep in about 3 days. Duluth takes well over a week in most cases. Again, when paying a premium price, PLUS a healthy chunk for shipping on a standard order, the goods need to be in my hot little hands pronto. It's just part of the standard these days. I haven't found a better alternative to their underwear, so I'll probably keep buying it, for a while. But, the way the stock price has been going down, I should probably stock up a bit. Please, Duluth management, take a serious look at what your business is, and decide if you are going to be a cheap-as-hell outlet, in keeping with your current level of service, or a premium retailer, with the policies and service to match. read more

Bought a pair of Duluth's overalls - the clasp broke (which make them useless) within two months of purchase. They replaced them with firehose pants. They were great for a couple of months when the hardware on those pants broke. I didn't get a receipt for the exchange so they wouldn't warranty the other pants. They say on their website that you have a full year warranty on purchases. I got 4 months. Thanks Duluth, you won't be seeing me again. DON"T BUY DELUTH! Their hardware fails every time. read more

Walk in and it's just a mess. We stopped by during their 80% off sale so the place was packed. As a result their was slim pickings for the items the husband wanted. He did end up walking out with a jacket for $18 normally sold for over $100. There were a few items that were damaged, so had to keep an eye out. Otherwise you can find some good deals! My hubby is in construction and he has diabetes with the foot pain.. Very hard to find boots for him that have the steel toe, the comfort and the durability. You get what you pay for. It may be pricey, but the product is so well made, comfortable and I am sure it lasts. I will update in 6 months or so to verify how the boots have stood up to his daily work load. Duluth is my go to store now. I first bought some things from your new Manassas, VA store a few moths ago, and then quickly realized you even give all the same deals online. My favorite deals you have are hte 20% off on purchases of $75 or more, plus free shipping! Duluth's clothes are top quality, and worth the extra money you spend here... I bought some flannels last year at a different store, and they were NOT quality at all. I think it's safe to say Duluth is my store now. The clothing and gear is just my style, I can afford them, and I have made multiple purchases online since my first visit to the physical store, and have NOT been disappointed. My husband and I have bought Duluth clothing for years. I like the ladies short sleeve long-tails. There's nothing worse than bending over and feeling a breeze. The quality of the shirts is very good. The fit is great. My neighbor loved my losing weight a few years ago. I gave her my medium long-tails and I bought smalls. Then I gave her my smalls and I bought extra-small. Then her daughter came over and confiscated all the shirts. I haven't found anyone who doesn't like Duluth long-tails. My husband wears the man long-tails since he has a long torso and they fit him very well. Again, the quality of the material is excellent. Customer service is amazing. I called the company and was told I wasn't in there system as ordering anything even tho they sent me a confirmation email with an order number. I have been purchasing their products for 8 years. I ordered Christmas and Birthday gifts on December 15th. For some reason they didn't ship until the 20th. Finally arrived on the 26th. Needless to say I had to go out on the 24th and replace the 12 gifts Duluth couldn't get here on time even when they "guaranteed by Christmas." Duluth said it wasn't their fault. I strongly disagree. They need to have a zero star rating. I shopped at Duluth A LOT. I called today to have them pull 5 items that I would be coming in for tonight 15 mins before they closed. I could have just went and shopped and help up employees from getting off work but I thought if they could pull them I would be in and out. I do not order online to pickup because last time after I placed my order somehow the store got changed to a store on the other side of the country and I was told I could get the items at the store I was in and pay AGAIN for them then wait 10 days for the credit on the messed up order. I didn't mess up the order. The guy I talked to seemed nice pulled the stuff then forgot to hang up the phone and began a very ugly conversation about me to a fellow employee the entire time my earbuds were engaged. I heard the whole thing. I found it totally unprofessional and not appreciated as a customer at all. I called back and spoke with a manger, informed her I was just in there two days earlier and purchased $500 worth of clothing, gave her my number to pull up my history to see exactly how much I buy there then told her to just put the stuff back - I won't be back. She was polite, apologized and after me telling her to put the stuff back asked if there was ANYTHING she could do.... told her to teach Brandon how to hang up a phone.
