Today at the Waukesha Wi. store I experienced exemplary customer service from store manager Mark Urban. He went out of his way to assist me in exchanging a coat that did not fit me. I'm extremely disappointed to write this review. The products themselves are fantastic. My husband loves their firehose pants for work. They are pricey but last years. Today, we went to check out what was available in store and were frustrated to say the least. The store was in absolute disarray--things were all in the wrong places and clothing not in order by size. It appeared that there were only two employees working, which isn't enough to keep the store in order and provide assistance to customers. Fortunately, with much digging, I was able to find most of what we went in for, but didn't have any assistance at all, which is disappointing when a pair of pants cost $100+. For back story, I previously worked in retail in several different clothing companies and know it is time consuming, but that keeping things orderly is part of the daily job as well as closing tasks. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!! I purchased items which said would deliver before Christmas. Ordered Dec 8 , not one email stated label created or shipped . I call and wait on hold for a phone call that said 30 min wait time . Turned to over 1.5 hours of waiting to be told no worries we can see your order and it will get to my house by 19-22nd. They just had too many orders and are struggling .....Go forward a couple days later and guess what I get a email everything is getting to my house hopefully by the 27th. Just an outstanding store with high-quality stuff. I'd make sure I had the online app and if you use Honey or whatever that gives you the coupon codes, just put it in as though you're ordering and they'll give you the discount. But the Bamboo shirts, the pants, the Jeans...they're all just awesome. The people who work at the Waukesha store...well, at least this one kid who works there, is really outstanding. Talked to me about the pants he wore when he worked at a Golf Course one summer, and how they were nice, light, and comfortable. I tried them. Ordered online for pickup in-store at this location. Found a great deal on some boots for a Christmas gift and ordered them for pickup in store to avoid porch theft. Was greeted warmly upon entering, asked if I needed help with anything- that's nice. Everything in store seemed to be 30% off, making DTC's expensive prices, a little lower. The back of the store was set up as ground zero for online pickups, and they had a bunch of bags ready with everyone's name printed on them but in no particular order. Two people seemed to have trouble finding my order, questioning whether the ordered was shipped, or if I had chose their store for pickup! C'mon, dudes- you can do better than that. I think a manager heard I had ordered boots, and sure enough, he found them in their original boot packaging, shipped directly to store in a back storage area. Improvements can be made for online pickup for sure. Bought a gift card and another item and checkout was friendly and easy. DTC has some unique goods, but maybe avoid online pickup during the Holiday season. read more

The first I ever heard of the Duluth Trading Company was on billboards along US 151 in Dane County, while on my way to Iowa. Out of curiosity, I stopped at the store in Mount Horeb, and it is a beautiful store. Duluth Trading Company in Mount Horeb? What gives? I was even more impressed with the store in Port Washington. Duluth? As it turns out, the company started in Duluth but didn't actually open a store there until about 25 years after its creation. At both stores, I was blown away by the offerings and selections - and by their prices. Just the same, I really liked the store in Port Washington and crossed my fingers that they would open something closer to home. And they have! Usually, DTC prefers to open stores in historic buildings in downtown areas (like Port Washington and Mount Horeb.) This is a beautiful, new building on Bluemound Road in Waukesha, in front of the Home Depot, just west of Goerke's Corners and the new Von Maur store. It might as well be a light year from Von Maur for the difference in product offerings, but I'd be far more likely to shop DTC than Von Maur, anyway. If you are in the trades or have a job like mine, where clothing tends to take a beating, you might want to try Duluth Trading Company. Same for outdoor sporting enthusiasts. DTC offers t-shirts that are three inches longer than most, keeping your butt covered when you bend over. Their pants are made from fire hose fabric that look, and promise, to wear like, well, fire hoses. Some even feature cold-weather, fleece lining. Toward the back of the store, DTC offers furnishings like work shoes, hats, gloves, socks and underwear designed for tradesmen. They even have fire hose dog jackets and miscellaneous knick-knacks that you never knew existed but think you can't live without. They even have bottled water carriers and a thermal bottle that looks like it could survive a nuclear explosion. I admit that due to the price, I hesitated to pull the trigger on a pair of fire hose pants for work but as someone pointed out, why wouldn't I pay a few bucks more for a pair of pants that will outlast three or four pairs of my regular brand? Point taken. Besides, I wear an unusual size. Duluth Trading Company stocks it in fire hose pants and being in a store, I was able to actually try them on. Perfect fit! Someone in another review compared Duluth to REI. In some ways, yes, they are similar. However, Duluth is better about sizing. Any pants I purchase from REI I always have to size up. With Duluth I never have that issue. REI and Duluth also have similar return policies, however with REI I get a 3rd degree lecture and attitude even when the tags are still on. With Duluth, no issues or snarky remarks. I even had a pair of leather sandals that I wore for a few months but they started to tear and Duluth even apologized and allowed me to exchange them for another pair of shoes. I still shop at both stores, but I frequent Duluth a lot more and only buy gifts for others there because I know they won't have issues returning or exchanging. Speaking of gifts, their website has had a lot of issues in the last month, but when I contact customer service, they have quickly helped me resolve issues. Two cons/things I wish you could improve: 1. Many times the size I need is out of stock both online and in store. Even when it's a "new" item. 2. Please offer more colors and patterns for women. Many of the tops seemed to be geared towards older generation. So frustrating because I love the products but sometimes the look is very old fashioned and more suitable for my grandma. The employee Daniel refused my return even after the website says no bull return. Return for any reason. Well Daniel makes his own rules I guess. I used to like Duluth Trading until I tried to get a price adjustment on some tanks I purchased. They went on sale two weeks after I bought them. I was told they won't price adjust because it had been too long. I asked what their price adjustment timeframe was. One person said a couple days. Another employee said a week or so. No one could give me a real answer. I was told I should buy new ones at sale price and return other tanks with the old receipt. How ridiculous. Wouldn't it just be easier to price adjust a few dollars instead of doing another purchase and return? Customer service sucks. read more

Purchased a hoodie online. I was shy of $75 to qualify for free shipping, so I added some hand cream as an add-on item to bring the purchase up to $75. Paid for the order and got a confirmation via email. A few days later, I received a tracking number and it shows my item was shipped. It was only the hand cream. I emailed their customer service to see what the status was of the hoodie and they told me it was no longer available. I wish they would've let me know before they shipped the hand cream (which I didn't need) so I could've canceled the entire order. Very disappointed. Never purchasing from them again! read more

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with the intention to exchange some tops I was given as a birthday gift. The store was quiet for a weekend. I had my items with me, still packaged in the gift box they came in with the gift receipt. I checked in at the cash wrap to see if an exchange was an option and to ask the current value of the items I had. That went well. I browsed around, but had trouble finding the items I liked in my size. Surprised by the difference in stock in the men's vs. the women's department; especially in pants. Lots of larger sizes, very few small or average sizes. After a bit, I went back to the cash wrap and asked if it would be okay to get a store credit. It was a different employee this time, who interrogated me harshly through the whole process. Every question was spoken like an accusation: You want to return these? Did you wear these? (The tags we on and they were still stock folded) Why are you returning them? In that order. It was embarrassing and offensive. The original employee had left my tops nicely folded with the receipt and a clearly labeled note. I hate being this person, but I won't shop that location again. read more
