Can't go wrong with this classic! Whether you're 6 or 60 this ride is fun for everyone. There is a little joystick in your elephant which allows you to move your lil' Dumbo up and down. It doesn't go too fast so no hair trouble (did not even have to remove my hat) or motion sickness. It's a pretty short ride, just long enough for it not to become same old. I had never done this ride here before so imagine my surprise when the line led us inside a building that has an incredible play area for kids in it. You get a buzzer that will go off once it's your turn to go sit in your Dumbo. Brilliant, am I right? It's all incredibly well done. The area is made really fun and my kid was almost disappointed it was our time to go Dumbo. If you're looking for a break from the sunshine and walking, this place has seating and air conditioning. read more

I got to ride this ride for the first time with my dad (at 34yo!) Such a fun special ride I've wanted to ride my whole life! My kids rode with my mom and my dad and I went together. The line weaves through two ways as they've addded an extra dumbo! There is an indoor playground that you can access for free, but you do have to go to the back of the line after youre done. We opted just to ride the ride. I will say we spent half of the ride unable to get the dumbo to rise but once we did it was cool. Definitely a must as a classic disney ride. read more

The ride features the classic Disney character dumbo and actually has two separate rides and you can choose a side based on line wait. Both sides are exactly the same and run at the same time for the same duration. They broth feature mini dumbos that you ride in and once the ride goes you move up and down in a circular fashion. One of Disney original and Classic kid's rides. Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a classic Magic Kingdom attraction that still holds a lot of charm -- especially for families with younger kids. The entrance is bright and whimsical, with colorful circus-themed decorations that instantly set a playful tone. It does really feel like you're stepping into a storybook version of a big top with the big tents and carnival looks. I read that the waiting line could have been one of the best parts of the experience, especially if you're visiting with little ones. Some of the reviews say that there was a place were the kids could play in an indoor air-conditioned play area while you wait. You're given a pager that buzzes when it's your turn to ride, making the wait feel much more relaxed and manageable. I did not experience this. I waiting in a normal line that was shaded inside the tent at one part and under a covered awning even outside. The ride itself is simple but joyful. Each guest controls their own flying elephant, moving up and down while circling around the central tower with the iconic water feature below. We, unfortunately got the one DUmbo that had a joystick that was not working. It was fun nonetheless and the views of Fantasyland from the top were very nice. Overall, it's more of a nostalgic, kid-focused ride but enjoyable for all. read more

We've rode Dumbo The Flying Elephant at Disneyland and was quite surprised that Disney World also had the Dumbo The Flying Elephant ride as well! Dumbo is located inside Magic Kingdom within Fantasyland. Disney World has two-dumbo rides, whereas, the dumbo ride at Disneyland only has one. There are two separate queues for each ride, but a single entrance. Waiting for the ride has 6-ft social distancing markers and includes hand sanitation stations before/after the ride. The ride consists of spinning in a circle while you go up or down within the air. It plays the music from the movie in the background. It's fun to be able to view Magic Kingdom from high up! My daughter loves this ride, both at Disney World and Disneyland CA. read more

MAGIC KINGDOM CLASSIC Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Fantasyland) is a Magic Kingdom classic that many will want to share with their young child. Part of the queue is indoors where there is the Big Top play area with slides and climbs - not sure how it works but check with a Disney cast member so you don't lose your space on line while visiting the playroom. We felt that the ride was too short at less than 2 minutes. For kids, Dumbo The Flying Elephant is so fun! You get to ride in Dumbo and make it fly high or low. While standing in line, there's a pitstop that's a play zone with slides, ropes, etc. For parents, the ride is like a carnival ride. It's not super thrilling, but to see your kids love it makes it worth it. Also, the play zone is a great break! You can play as long as you want and get back in line without missing a beat. Also, the staff let you leave to use the restroom, going through an exit door. However, there aren't any outlets in the play zone. read more

Typical spinning ride with Dumbo. Dumbo is a classic, and while I still have never seen the movie, I'm aware about who Dumbo is. That being typed, there's 2 rides side by side that "help" the line move a little faster as there's more seats to fill. The one in Disneyland only has the one, so if you've been aching to fly in the elephant, this is a good bet. The line is a little more unique here. You wait in the standard line until you get to a certain point - the "play" area. You can't bypass it at all (I tried), but the wait time isn't terrible until the beeper they give you goes off and you're back in line again. It's nice for the kids to be able to play inside, but others will just have to sit there until it's time again to stand up. For sitting, it's a good rest stop I suppose. It is a good idea generally. A bunch of beepers go off around the same time, so you may lose your spot in line by a few people - but it's moot as you're the next "batch" on the ride. They do ask you how many for the ride, as they plan it out so the second standing wait time isn't that bad. During a hot day, once you're inside the tent - standing or not - the air conditioning does feel pretty nice. The ride itself is all too familiar - you just spin, able to go up or down to the music of Dumbo. Most kids will of course like the ride. It's a basic ride, but generally relaxing. Certainly worth doing once, especially if you're with kids. Located in the Fantasyland area in Magic Kingdom at Disney World. The lines can be a little much as with most of the stuff in Disney, so you should pick and choose with this one. There are other rides you can waste your time standing in line for or fast passing above this one, even though your kids might not agree. If you've never been on this before, of course it's worth it at least once. If you're looking to explore the park, I would make this lower on the priority list as the lines can be long here, but they move a little more quickly than other rides/attractions. read more

Don't just fly, soar! Who doesn't love the Dumbo ride? It is basically synonymous with the Disney parks, a classic through and through. Now, something you may have skipped in the past is not to be missed because they have doubled the fun - there are double-Dumbos in the newer portion of Fantasyland! There has never been a better time to relive your childhood now that the lines aren't horrendous. They have a pretty nifty system in place where, during busy times, you are given a buzzer (like at some restaurants) and asked to wait in an indoor play area until you are buzzed. This way, you aren't standing on your feet waiting for a potentially long time. Now, I didn't travel with children so my party just sat on the side of the play area and waited, but it was still nice to hang out and wait for the ride off our feet. read more

Fun little ride for those that like to get up high in the air. Line does into the "tent" and then gets split between the two different rides. Anyone on the outside trying to get some photo or videos should make sure you know which side your party went. Would suggest varying the height as well - if you spend all the time high photos on the ground are hard to take. There is a Dumbo mock up between the two rides that makes for a good photo op! read more

The queue with the playground is just genius, and it's a shame they can't do that for everything. That said, don't expect your kids to be able to play the whole time you wait. You have to get to a certain point in the line to reach the play area, but once there, they will have just the right amount of time to play. If you dedicate your morning to Fantasyland, you can knock out most of the attractions with a minimal wait. I think we spent ten minutes or less outside, about 10-20 inside playing, and onto the ride shortly there after. read more

Dumbo The Flying Elephant is now the classic ride that opened the day Magic Kingdom did in 1971 but a bit better. Probably the best thing about the Dumbo ride in the New Fantasyland is there are two flying Dumbo tracks when there used to be just one. Lines would get excruciatingly long and it would be a painful wait for a ride lasting just 90 seconds. This new improved ride system which opened in 2012 not only added a track but also the Storybook Circus! When the ride is busy, you can receive a page to hold your place in line and your kids can have fun at their air-conditioned playground under the big top! Once on the ride you can control your Dumbo to go up and down as much as you like. I usually have him fly to the tippiest toppest point and keep the elephant up there for some awesome views of the park! It feels higher than it looks! ha! Two adults can fit in a Dumbo car. Always a must ride for me and I'm loving it even more now that the wait isn't quite as long. read more

Dumbo is just another one of the wonderful classics that has been around since Magic Kingdom's opening day. While it's not really a ride I would go out of my way to ride unless I had the time, I'm glad it's there. In fact, the whole Storybook Circus area is just so adorable! As if Dumbo wasn't cool enough before... I mean, HELLO... it's Dumbo!! Now that Dumbo has landed in New Fantasyland, it's super cool! I remember being so upset Disney was moving it and didn't know what to expect. They really exceeded any and all expectations I had and all my fears were completely squashed! Now there are two... yes TWO Dumbos in New Fantasyland! For those who do not have a Fast Pass, the queue is indoors with a huge play area for the kiddos (and adults who want to give it a go). They hand out pagers so you'll know when it's your turn to ride. What a fabulous idea so the kids don't get bored waiting in a queue. Brilliant, Disney Imagineers... Positively brilliant! I haven't really had the opportunity to check the play area out and I've never been given a pager because we always ride late at night when the parades and fireworks are going on so there's never a wait. It's always so slow at that time of night that they allow us to stay on and ride over and over as many times as we like. I especially like riding at night when it's all lit up. There are fountains surrounding both Dumbos and the water lights up. It's really pretty. Riding during the day is cool, but riding at night is even cooler. I highly recommend a night ride if you haven't tried it. read more

Brief Description: A tame ride for younger kids based on the well-known flying pachyderm. Riders sit inside small "elephants" mounted on long metal arms, which spin around a central axis. Each elephant has controls inside which allow you to make your Dumbo fly higher or lower. There are now two, identical Dumbo rides, right next to each other, due to popularity through the decades, which helps with lines. Pros: Well-loved by younger kids; simple, not scary; familiar to many slower "flying" rides that kids are used to from county fairs or local amusement parks. Probably the best part of the attraction is a "big-top"-themed indoor play experience, similar to the play rooms at fast-food joints, only larger, cleaner, and Disney-fied, of course. Our kids played there for a solid 30 minutes before remembering that we were at the "Happiest Place on Earth", and wanting to return to the rides. Cons: The controls in the Dumbos don't always work too well, and so they don't really give you the "connected" feeling that you're really affecting how the Dumbo is flying. 20 years ago, that may not have been too big a deal, but Xbox-ing and Playstation-ing Millennials are coming up with a higher expectation on how such things feel and work. DUELING DUMBOS In the past there was only one Dumbo in Fantasyland which was a long painful process to ride. In fact, if we didn't get on it first thing in the morning then we didn't ride it at all. My little one eventually learned we weren't waiting in a 90-120 minute line to go around in a circle for 2 minutes. Luckily Disney realized how popular this ride was and made a duplicate Dumbo ride and Dumbo big tent land full of interactive fun. They even moved the old Dumbo ride into this new area. Now we have two Dumbo rides spinning next to each other for twice the fun. When we arrived for the Dumbo ride at around 11am we found no line at all. This would have never happened in the past. In fact, we walked right on to the ride. What? It was so amazing to get on so fast. Both my little one and I were amazed at how easy it was. Now some fun facts: The original Dumbo ride here in Orlando was introduced in 1971 when the park first opened. It is based off the original Dumbo ride that opened in Disneyland in October 1955, three months after the Anaheim Park opened. In fact, the Dumbo ride was an opening day attraction at Orlando, Hong Kong, Tokyo & Paris Disneyland. In fact, a new Dumbo ride is scheduled to fly at Shanghai Disneyland on December 15, 2015, so book your travel accordingly. In the Orlando location, do you know which one is the old Dumbo ride and which one is the new Dumbo ride? Give up? Spoiler alert! If you are facing both rides then the Right one is the old Dumbo and the Left one is the new Dumbo. You will also notice that both Dumbo rides spin in opposite directions. If you're into practical jokes you can tell people that this was designed for people from different Hemispheres. If you're from the Northern Hemisphere you must ride on the left one because of the spinning motion and if you're from the Southern Hemisphere then you ride on the right. You will get some great scientific looks and a thanks for the cool tip. My joke is just for fun and has no scientific merit, so enjoy spreading my fun nonfactual tip around. So on your next trip to Orlando it's time to ride the dueling Dumbos. This ride is now twice the fun without twice the wait. Thanks Disney for realizing two was better then one. This classic ride is no longer a long line but a fun ride. I will never be afraid of walking by to see an unbearable Dumbo attraction line. So hop on Dumbo and fly away into the Florida sky. This review is for the NEW Dumbo ride at Magic Kingdom. The new Fantasyland is being unveiled in stages and the Dumbo ride is having its soft opening now at the park. The ride capacity is doubled, thank goodness, because the line on the original was always long and moved oh so slowly. We got fast passes to ride Dumbo. You have to hoof it all the way over to Mickey's Philharmonic to get the passes which is a bit of a walk. The Dumbo on the left was for fast passers, the right was for regular line. Although on this Saturday in June we really didn't need the passes as neither side had much of a wait. The ride itself is mostly the same but with a new paint job and improved theme. There is water under the ride and a gleaming new core. I loved the little detail of peanuts being embedded into the cement around the ride. What really stands out is the indoor (AIR CONDITIONED!) queue. You enter the building and are given a pager and enter into an indoor playground. There are nets, tubes and slides for the older kids and a ring in the center for little ones. Many of the play elements interact with music or sounds when you use them. I actually climbed up the tubes and found platforms that "boing" when you jump on them, discs that play musical notes when you stand on them and slides that play sound effects when you go down. It is absolutely adorable. AND the entire area is circled by benches for parents to chill while the kids play. Genius! My only gripe is that fast passes are not allowed into the play area for some reason. My son was so disappointed because you walk right by the playground en route to the ride. We ended up coming back in through the regular line to use the playground. You are given a pager (like at a restaurant) that gives you 10 minutes or so to play. When your pager goes off you come up to get in line for Dumbo. We didn't want to ride Dumbo again so kept exchanging our pager so my son could keep playing. After he was done we exited out the emergency exit (as we were told to by a cast member) in the back without riding again. What a GREAT idea for keeping people happy while waiting for a ride. If only all rides had this kind of system! In fact, I could see this as the future of line queues. read more

This is a classic, nostalgic and memorable ride at Magic Kingdom that my son loves. Even realizing that so many other rides are based on this one, like Aladdin's magic carpet ride in Adventureland, or the Triceratop Spin at Animal Kingdom, it seems like this is still my son's favorite (and seems to draw the longest lines) of all the similar rides. They now have a pager system, like some restaurants use, for the standby line where guests can "check in" and leave for a snack or play in the new PlayPlace-style playground area while in queue. About half of the standing-in-line area is also under the canopy of a large, air-conditioned tent, which is nice too. Recommended, especially if you're visiting with kiddos. read more

I'm giving this ride 4 stars from my toddler's perspective. It wouldn't be something I would wait in line to ride if I wasn't with her. That being said we love this ride! We usually grab a fast pass and have never checked out the playground queue area inside, but will update when we do. You get to fly around in the elephant and you can control if the car you are in goes up or down. It is a short ride, but one that we frequent often when at MK. read more

We enjoyed it. It's a classic ride that everyone should do once, purely because it is iconic. The new way they've done it is they've added a play area and an electronic ticket to hold your place in line while your kids play. This is great...if you have kids. Otherwise you are stuck in close quarters with screaming children and no escape! We were in front of a particularly unpleasant family with children screaming they hated Dumbo. That did impact my experience, and I know there is nothing they could do about it, but OMG, control your kids...at least try! lol I am grateful we didn't have to wait in a real line with these people! The new 'line' allowed us to move as far away from them as possible!!! YAY! I think if we had children, they would love this ride. It's great for small kids...provided they like Dumbo lol. The play area looked really nice. I think it's a great idea! Makes the line more bearable for families! read more

A very long line, and when we went, not long enough to queue up with the electronic pagers, but a space indoors for kids to play as they wait on one of the two rides here in queue. You can control your height, assuming you get a Dumbo that works (ours was stuck). I'd bet it'd be more fun with pagers all the time that saved your place in line, and a working Dumbo. The carpet ride over in Frontierland was more efficient with numbers. They should do the same here for Dumbo. read more

Ok the wait time on the app stated that this ride was going to be a 10 minute wait, however we ended up waiting about 30 minutes! Pretty tough when you are trying to teach a toddler the concept of time. There is a play area in the queue line, but your children are not allowed to play there while the parent waits in the line which is difficult when they see the other kids having fun. They might as well move this area else where to avoid sporatic tantrums! However, when we go into Dumbo, the excitement in my son's eyes was well worth the wait! He loved that he could control his Dumbo to go up or down. The ride could be a little longer, but then it would make waiting in line, that much longer. Great classic ride, who doesn't like dear sweet DUmbo? I'm happy that I was able to take my 6 month old on it as well. read more

For those of you reading this without a fast pass, this is the ride for you! Disney had a great idea: "play while you wait", where parents can literally sit indoors while their kids run around and tire themselves out lol I would suggest coming here in the middle or towards the end of your day, simply because as a parent, you get the best of both worlds. You get a chance to relax and watch your kids have fun. This ride is so popular, the wait can be long but you get that much needed rest after a long day's hike around Magic Kingdom! read more

In the many years that I've been in and out of Disney World, the Magic Kingdom, I never thought I would ride this ride. Yes it is a classic but it looked so silly to me and geared only towards little kids. There was absolutely no wait so I decided to give it a try. Oh my God! How fun was this? So when you get on your Dumbo, you are the pilot. There's a switch in the center console that you could control the Dumbo as it spins and you can go up or down. When you go up high you get a really cute view of the area that you're in. I really absolutely loved this ride, I am so surprised I did it and liked it so much. Hope you have a great stay in Walt Disney World. Try the Dumbo ride, you don't have to wait in line and it's definitely a classic and a bucket list ride. read more

CLASSIC! but now with a twist. To keep the wait time down, the mouse added another Dumbo ride. They also revamped the line itself. You wait in a short line and enter the big top. Then your party gets a pager, much like at a restaurant. The kids can play in Dumbo's playplace. Good for both toddlers and older kids. The downside here is if you don't have kids, you're a little bit like "get me out of here" -- But I digress. The kids seem to have a blast based on the fits they were throwing when their pagers beep and they had to get on the ride. But otherwise, a neat a idea. What else could you ask for than to fly in an elephant? Nothing except maybe a flying pig. The Dumbo ride is fun for kids and adults. You get inside a big plastic elephant and you control how high or low you want to fly. It is a super birds eye view of Magic Kingdom. A view you don't really get any other way. It is kinda childish but that is what WDW is all about being a kid again. Dumbo has always been one of my favorite WD characters, so I was thrilled to finally do this ride. I think it is a must in WDW, but it is not a thrill seeking ride just a slow, lazy ride in the air. read more

The NEW Dumbo area is excellent for kids who want to play and parents who want to relax. The queue area features a new indoor playground where you get a buzzer that holds your place in line. There are benches all around the area and plenty of things to keep kids occupied. It's Disney's greatest achievement I've seen as far as lines that keep kids entertained. My favorite time to ride Dumbo is in the evening as the sun is setting or just after. The lighting in the area is beautiful. read more

I love that there are now two rides to get the guests through the line faster. You still end up waiting a long time for this ride so I recommend getting there early of using a fast pass for this attraction. Highly recommended! read more

For me- The best part about this attraction is not the ride. When it's super hot and you just want a break from the sun--but the kids still want to play, you just tell the cast member that you want to go to the play area and not ride. They will give you a little beeper they use to keep track of the ins and outs and when your ready to go just hand it back and head out the back way. It's a great hassle free break and the playground is awesome. You don't have to run your child as there's only one way out and you can sit at that exit. read more

Not Fastpass worthy. I'm not sure what this type of ride is called but there are several in Disney. The line was not bad and the kids love it. There are actually 2 sets of the same ride, one for the fast pass and one for non fast pass. I'd say keep checking your app for wait times and if its anything more than 10 minutes, go do something else and come back. read more
