I rode this twice, but each time for good reasons. I had a Lightning Pass for a nearby ride, and I had time to burn. The second time, I rode it to find refuge from a quick storm that rolled through the park. Also, if you want a little refresh with blasting A/C, this is a great stop to make. Is this for adults? Not at all. I question whether children will grasp this ride, but I suppose they can. It teaches about the senses, especially smell, and it does not disappoint. Because it is mostly there to educate children, it serves its purpose. At the end of the ride, they have interactive play for the kids; the kids seemed to be enjoying it. I feel it is a bit dated, but I'm out of the age bracket it is intended to entertain. Cute little ride for a short break. read more

Figment is still perfect for the younger kids with its silly jokes, music and interactive games at the exit. The antics of Figment drive the scientists crazy, but he's there to be creative and have fun. It's a good spot to have a break from the weather if you need it. Sadly, Figment is becoming a forgotten character and the ride feels outdated compared to others. If you are running short on time, older children and adults will likely want to skip waiting for this attraction. read more

Oh Disney, what have you done. Why have you let one of my favorite childhood rides descend into complete disarray like this? It's a shame, it's so sad, and it's far past time for you to put this attraction out of its faded, broken misery. "Journey Into Imagination with Figment" at EPCOT is one of those rides you want to love (especially if you remember the original version) but it's honestly just disappointing and totally sad. For a ride all about imagination, it feels like it's running on uninspired fumes. I mean, this thing is as outdated as it gets. There's some loose and lame story about how the Imagination Institute is having an open house, and Dr. Nigel Channing (played by Eric Idle -- I mean, come on, get a more modern actor to do this!) finds that nothing is going right. The open house quickly falls apart into a jumble of loud noises, cheap effects, and weird pacing. There is zero - and I mean ZERO - reason to subject yourself to this lame ride except for one: Figment. There are caveats even to this, however. The beloved little yellow-sweatered purple dragon who used to be charming and creative now mostly just pops in at random moments to cause chaos. Half the time Figment's outdated animatronics are broken, which means he looks even worse than normal! Instead of celebrating imagination, the ride feels like it's stuck in a loop of corny jokes and recycled ideas. The ride's technology is seriously dated, think early 2000s screens and animatronics that look tired and stiff. The sets don't have the same wonder or whimsy they once did. For a place that's all about innovation, this attraction feels way behind the times. There are parts of the ride that are literally faded with time. DO BETTER, DISNEY! Even kids seem confused by what's going on, and adults mostly ride it because there's rarely a wait and the air conditioning feels great. I wish it was longer so I could get in a power nap. The worst part is knowing how magical this attraction used to be. The original version of Journey Into Imagination had heart, creativity, and genuine inspiration. This current version feels like a cheap knockoff that forgot what made it special in the first place. read more

I loved this ride and exhibit when I was a kid, and I still remember the Imagination song. Most fun was skipping around afterwards making music from stepping on the walls and other interactive activities. The ride was still great, with the fun song that I remember, so I would go on this again 100%. But the after part has all changed and was really disappointing. One wall seemed to be for only 1 person at a time, a couple of 'move and figment moves' walls didn't seem to be working, and the step on the music floor was not the same at all. Those 'stick your hands against the needles' are gone, and some outdated computer activities do exist, but in general this after exhibit could use... imagination! So... Ride is 5 stars. After exhibit is 3 stars or even lower. read more

This ride almost never has a wait if it does it's usually about five minutes or less. There's nothing too exciting about the ride. And if you do it once you don't really need to do it again unlike some other slow rides around Epcot or Disney World. read more

CUTE FIGMENT RIDE We recently rode Journey into Imagination with Figment. Other than Disney Vacation Club members visiting the upstairs DVC lounge, it appears that not many park guests come to the Imagination Pavilion (glass pyramid topped building). This ride was a walk-on during a non-peak weekend visit. This was our first time on this ride and we did not know much about Figment other than Figment being the mascot of the EPCOT festivals and Figment fans going wild over a popcorn bucket a few years ago. We thought the ride was cute and enjoyed the premise of the ride - using your five senses to spark your imagination. Fun parts of the ride included the Smell Lab's stink bomb and the upside down rooms in Figment's house. After the ride, we entered a large interactive play area and small gift shop. The play area's technology is old and needs some major TLC but it is a large AC space for families to take a break from the park crowds and summer heat. read more

By far our favorite ride and character in Epcot. I remember when my parents took me to Epcot as a 6 year old and in my teens, I used to make fun of my older sister for loving Figment so much. Not a nice sister on my part. When we first took my kiddo to Epcot, he just LOVED Figment, and hence now I love him and find him endearing. We had a fastpass for this ride, but actually were able to get on the ride at least 4 more times without a fastpass, which was nice. We love that Figment pops up throughout the ride, the skunk smell (OK, I'm not crazy about the smell, but it is funny), and I love the pairing of the scientist (one of the Monty Python guys) and Figment. When you exit the ride, you go into a fun hands-on portion. There's even a little stage where you can get your picture taken with Figment. I made my kiddo, my mom, and myself matching Figment shirts and my kiddo was so excited to show them to Figment. Figment was GREAT with everyone. Despite not being able to talk, he did great showing his gratitude and excitement of our party where Figment parapheniala. Figment is one of the Epcot characters of the early 80s, and he brings back great memories of family vacations to Epcot/Disney as a kid. read more

Take a stroll inside this pavilion that's filled with educational activities. Located in EPCOT on the World Celebration area, this sensory lab narrated by Dr. Nigel and Figment, the character host, accompanies everyone on a cart ride inside, teaching lessons about the 5 senses. The kids are a bit older so the exhibits at this attraction wasn't as challenging but lots of fun nonetheless, everyone enjoyed. Old School, but fun. I was shocked at how long the line was for this ride as it's such a simple outdated ride. We had Premier pass so it wasn't a waste on a lightening lane. This was a fun experience. I'm not in love with Figment as his cult following is, but he was fun to follow. I do like his sweater and would wear one if given to me. Listen, I absolutely love Figment, however, this ride is screaming for an update/revamp. I don't know how they took the original ride and made it worse instead of better. I'll have to do with the partnership they had with Kodak back in the day. It's still charming though! You can just tell it's I hate to say this but... Cheaply made. You can tell where it was unfinished, and they just kind of piece together something that was good enough to get by. But in the last couple years, the character of figment has really had a chokehold on a lot of Disney fans, including myself. So I'm hoping with this newfound popularity/renaissance of the character, they will take the initiative to give the character a ride it deserves. There is something special about a gentle ride that encourages using the 5 senses to feed your imagination. Figment is a loveable character. That being said, it has gone through a few updates (or scaling back), that seems to have removed some of its charm and a lot of the hands on experiences post ride. Yes, it is not an action packed, barrage your brain sensors glued to your technology type of ride, and I do miss Figments trip to scary imagination, but it is a solid ride, that you can basically walk on and ride, to give yourself a break from the glitz and glam of Guardians, Mission Space and Test Track. read more

Having a ride that focuses on the power of imagination is actually super cute, but this is a bit outdated. It is educational and the messaging is great (and I admit I am not the target audience), but it is clearly very early 2000s and a bit slow to get through. The ambiance is quite cool with an interestingly retro-futuristic vibe kind of like back to the future. When you're in the queue you see a sensory lab and some displays of a reception. It's almost like a science fair. Once you get in you're in a ride that feels quite dated. Basically you go through different parts where your senses are tested including vision for color, smell, and so on. There is also a funny dragon named figment following along. This ride is so CAMP and definitely a cult classic I would say. One of my friends in my group that I came to Disney with is the biggest Figment fan - he even Disney-bounded as Figment on this day! So I went into this ride VERY HYPED by said friend and the ride was so stinking cute! It's definitely a bit old and "wobbly," but it's endearing in all its slight rundown-ness for Disney standards hahaha. You can definitely see the age with this ride, but it's fun, especially for kids, because there is tons to interact with, especially after the ride! It's all about encouraging and fostering imagination and we love to see it! Bonus points to this ride/space because this is where the Flubber representation is!!!!! read more

The ride is mainly animatronics and boasts help from popular Disney scientist from movies such as flubber, nutty professor and honey I shrunk the kids. We love Epcot. From the festivals to the pavilions it's always a great time. It's a quieter park compared to the others, which we enjoy. Spice Road Table is a great sit down restaurant option. The Japan noodle quick serve is a great eat and go spot. Food and wine is our personal favorite festival with the art festival a close second! This is perhaps the most obscure attraction we attended at Disney. It seems that they went out of their way to NOT use one of the countless number of famous Disney characters in their library in lieu of an "original" character named figment. This ride is a classical must do when it comes to Epcot. Located in future world right near the ride Soarin, you are taken through a tour of your imagination with the ever so cherished, lovable, funny, and dare I say magical, Figment! The ride consists of four moving vehicles and takes you on a journey through the different senses. It starts off with sound, followed by sight, smell and then a nice little shake-up that will leave you laughing. While the ride is dated, the animatronic figment and little special effects that this ride offers definitely will make you want to go on it again and again. During the holidays they are now putting an adorable "ugly" sweater on the figment animatronics so be on the lookout for that as well! The queue of this ride is nicely themed to look like a building with multiple doctors, some doors and photos nodding to other "scientists" in the Disney universe, such as the creator of Flubber and the scientist who shrunk the kids. The ride opens later than other rides at Epcot and also closes earlier. There is usually not a long wait but on peak days, be prepared to wait!!! The giftshop is equally as adorable and offers many different items that are figment themed, for you to take home. They have Pillow Pets, key chains and shirts among many other things. This ride is so corny but entertaining at the same time. I really don't know why I was so entertained by this, but it was a nice respite from the lines and heat. I entered and got on the ride at a decent time and was on my way. Being along made for a nice stretch out in the car. I just sat back and let my eyes wonder around the ride as it pulled me further along the line. The ride is a treat for all of your senses, and I mean all of your senses. Everything is so brightly colored in here that it is hard to miss anything. The oddest part of this ride is when you basically get farted on to hit your sense of smell. It was also entertaining. I mean, and don't act like you don't do this, laughing at a good fart is part of being alive. With Disney's far reaching filmography there is a lot of scientists they can pull footage from to aide in the experience here. If I remember correctly they even used Flubber at one point. It is a bit dated, seeing that the ride has been open for decades at this point. Honestly, they should give Figment his own film franchise. Or at least a television cartoon show, they could put an educational spin on it as well. read more

I honestly like the 80's version better. Till this day I cannot understand why they removed the beloved character Dream Finder. While this is not a thrill ride I still find it fun and you'll be left with the catchy tune One Spark of Light in your head long after your journey is over. I geek out on psychology and the Freuds theory of an Id in the psychic apparatus. Personally that's what I think Fink. The defiant little character on us that want our imagination to come out. This is a GREAT heat/rain beater with their Image Works center following the ride. Where little ones can even meet Wreck It Ralph Penelope. Back to the ride every seat is a good seat in the house if you can get the center front row of the pod count yourself having optimal ride experience. Either way you will enjoy yourself. You are entering into the days Open House for the Academy but Fink is going to take you through a sensory whirlwind. A good pleasant ride for the whole family This ride is in EPCOT on the Walt Disney World complex. It is located just past The Land in the large triangle-shaped building on the west side of the park. The ride is a whimsical journey through to explore many of your senses in an effort to spark you imagination. I have been on this many times. It has rarely had a line or a wait time more than 5 minutes. The "cars" that you ride can easily fit more than 3 people across. It moves slowly through the ride and does not have any scary parts. When you exit, you wo through a "lab" where, during non-COVID times, you can explore some of the games to spark your creative side. It is a pleasant ride for adults and children alike. read more

If done right, Epcot will take you 2 days at least to visit. It is going through construction right now (as of Feb 2020) so expect a new entrance when its done. You will either love Epcot or go "meh" because its too educational, not to mention a helluva lot of walking. If you're a foodie, the World Showcase area is where it's at... food and drinking. If you're a dining plan holder, use your snack points and eat around the kiosks (if available during Food & Wine, Festival of the Arts, etc.). DO NOT waste a fast pass for the fireworks show. Lame viewing area. Go and find a spot along the water and save your pass. DO ride the Skyliner (ie: sky buckets) which will take you to the new Riviera resort, or connect you to the Hollywood Studios. TIP: if you are staying on property, rather than walking to the front of the entrance for the bus, take the Skyliner (located by the UK and Canada pavilion) to Hollywood Studios and catch your hotel bus there. Bring water or your hydroflask... you never know if you get stuck walking somewhere and you need a drink. read more

Journey Into Imagination is an air conditioned, sit and stay, classic indoor dark ride that takes you through the human senses guided by science, and, of course, the ICON himself : Figment. He's fun and cute and whimsical. This is a good ride for around mid-day or during the afternoon . The wait time is usually no more than 15 minutes. It's so great to see my old pal Figment again! I LOVED the original ride when I was a kid, so I was sad to see this exhibit closed one of my past visits (years ago). Heck, I still have my original Figment stuffed animal from the 1980s! I remember the rainbow colored tunnel that was part of this attraction from childhood, too bad it's gone. I think us Xennials will probably appreciate that this ride is still here. I had such fond memories of this ride, but the new version is lackluster. The original was so whimsical with the Dream Finder and quite charming, they really need to incorporate some of the old aspects back in. My favorite scene in this new ride is at the end when the imagination song plays and we see all of the figments. I love the bright colors!! This ride is very mellow and great for young kids or those who aren't into wild ride. I've seen wait times vary from 5-30 minutes for this attraction. read more

Wow, I love Epcot. I miss it all the time! Being greeted by Spaceship Earth aka the dome/sphere really gets you in the mood for a day at Epcot. A Permanent World's Fair and the world of the Future all rolled into one. It is mesmerizing, entertaining, and educational. Epcot is the most geared Disney park for adults but there is still plenty of stuff for the kiddos to explore - less fantasy/storybook and more educational and inspiring - for all ages. We went during the International Food & Wine Festival. I highly recommend going during this time if you want the most bang for your buck by eating/drinking your way around the World for a fraction of the price. The World Showcase is amazing and the transition between countries is seamless. One minute you are enjoying the sights and sounds of Mexico and the next you are in Norway the next minute you realize you are in the good ol' USA! I loved experiencing each new country and checking out what each has to offer. My husband and I would shout out what country we were in next as we guessed as we went along. Each country has its own stores for merchandise, cultural gifts, and of course food/drink. Easily could spend 20-60 minutes in each country, especially if you eat/drink. It was also cool that Disney staff members are typically from the country you are in. Enjoy your stroll through World Showcase but also make sure to ride the Frozen Ever After ride and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros. Now let's get to Future World. Future World - now Future World is undergoing a big renovation at Epcot but when I went in fall 2019 it was still called "Future World". Here is where most of the rides are located. Future World is located in the main entrance of the park. It may be tempting to head right for Spaceship Earth since it is right there when you walk in the park but do not! There is not a long wait for Spaceship Earth, so venture to more popular rides like Frozen Ever After or Soarin'. Do not waste your money on food or drink here - try to head to World Showcase for eating and drinking. We spent most of our time in Future World enjoying the rides and other attractions. Tons to see! We did Epcot in one day - was it a long day, yup! From rope drop until the firework show. But it is doable - we do not have kiddos, so that could always change your Epcot experience. The firework show starts at 9pm and it is along the World Showcase Lagoon. Beautiful firework show and nothing I have seen before. I was not that interested in seeing it and thought to leave early or try to get another ride in but I am glad we stayed to watch the show. More than just a firework show but a whole experience! Disney does it right and I will gladly pay over $100+ a ticket. The crew members are amazing, so nice and helpful. The cleanest amusement park you will ever visit and the park is ever-changing. Do not pass up Epcot!! read more

I love this attraction at Epcot. I don't have kids, but I always end up laughing and having a great time with my friends on this ride. It is a cheesy animatronic ride that takes you through the five senses. Throughout your journey Figment (a little purple dragon) messes with each scene encouraging more imagination. It's cheesy. It's short. It isn't created for adults, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. The line is usually non-existent or Fastpasses are easy to grab. It absolutely isn't something that is a "must do" on my Disney itinerary, but it is always something I enjoy when I have some time to spare in that part of Epcot. read more

I guess I'm a little too old for this ride and never had kids, but I can still appreciate it's intentions. I had never even heard of a flying dragon named Figment until now either! None the less, it's still cute, fun and funny for the children. A colorful and educational way to motivate the younger generation to be creative and use their imaginations. This 3D family oriented ride starts off with a professor trying to teach imagination in a boring, scientific way, only to get interrupted multiple times by his assistant Figment, demonstrating his more plausible and unique versions of imagination with a logical use of sight, sounds, touch, taste and smell. Eventually, Figment pretty much takes over the class and convinces the professor that imagination and a catchy tune is all that's necessary to trigger a sense of creativity.
