This is a very fun ride and I'm glad it gets the respect it deserves! The friend I went with isn't really a fan of this one, and we didn't use lightning lanes on it, so I wasn't sure if we'd get to go on. But when we were here, both days, the lines for it were pretty short (I think the longest standby time was 15 minutes). I probably wouldn't use a LL on it in the future, unless I had times to book after reserving the harder-to-get rides. Based upon the Mad Hatter from Alice and Wonderland, it's a smile ride wherein you sit in cars that look like teacups. There's a wheel in the center that allows you to spin the teacup as it's moving around the ride platform. There's no restraint system on this one, though I think there is a door that closes. There's also no height requirement, so even the littlest kids can have fun on this one. Perhaps avoid it if you are prone to motion sickness, but otherwise it's a fun ride that won't take up much of your day. read more

A must do!! The tea cups are truly an iconic ride, whether you saw them in Full House, or heard from a friend, you just have to do this ride. I did it with someones else kids in 2010 and then with my own in 2025 and it was even more magical watching them spin their hearts out. The sights, the sounds, its really what I compare any carousel too for some reason. If you use the app you can see wait times and they vary throughout the day. CLASSIC MAGIC KINGDOM RIDE We recently took a spin on the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland. We were surprised to learn that this is one of the original rides at Magic Kingdom. We love twirling around in the huge cartoonish tea cups (see the mouse popping out at the top of the tea pot). Like Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Tomorrowland Speedway, this is a Disney classic that many parents will ride with their child. Kids of all ages love this ride that can be wildly spun at a dizzying speed :o) The park crowd was light with Magic Kingdom closing early to regular day guests for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. A classic ride at Disneyworld/Magic Kingdom and the wait is never too long and the line moves fast for this, so it's definitely worth a ride if you're into the classics and, of course, if you can handle the SPINS! Obviously, if you don't intentionally spin your own saucer, it'll be pretty manageable and won't scramble your brain as the ride itself is so gentle. But if you want to crank it up to X games level, IT CAN BE DONE! Just make sure to be in a saucer with people who are on that same level with you and, if you don't want to spin too much, make sure you trust that the people you're in a cup with won't sabotage you haha! I love this ride. It's easy and on the ground, but it's a quintessential part of the park so I'll ride it every time! It's basically right on the border between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and right at the end of a path away from the central castle area, so you'll probably walk by it throughout the day multiple times! Just keep an eye on wait times, but generally the wait here is manageable and you'll definitely have times throughout the day where it's only 5-15 minutes and will be easy to hop into line because of it! read more

This is actually one of my favorite rides at Disney for many reasons. First, it actually makes me feel like a kid again. I laugh and giggle so much as I swirl around and around in circles at the speed of light attempting to hold down the funnel cake I almost always eat before getting on the ride. I usually ride by myself so I can really get the speed up by positioning my body just right to get up to 70 mph. Just kidding, I don't go that fast but I have had comments from people in the line as the ride comes to an end about how fast my teacup was going. So I wear a badge of honor. Secondly, it usually doesn't have a long wait time. They can get a lot of people on at one time and a lot of people are adverse to dizziness so they opt-out. Not me! Bring the dizziness! It's part of the ride for me. Will I or will I not barf? After about 20 rides....no barfing...yet. Seriously though, the wait time has never been over 30 minutes every time I go. It also allows you to ride a lot more times in a row because the wait time is short. Lastly, it reminds me of other experiences I've had at amusement parks across the nation with people I care about where we would ride the Tilt-a-whirl or other similar rides. It makes me nostalgic, which makes me happy thinking about all the wonderful people I've had amazing times with at the amusement park. This isn't just a ride to little kids. It to me is the example of the slogan The Most Magical Place on Earth because it turns adults into kids as they laugh and wipe tears from their eyes and kids into adults as they console their parents after a dizzying ride into oblivion. read more

The Mad Tea Party is a class ride at Disney's Magic Kingdom. It's located in Fantasyland. It is the same Mad Tea Party ride at Disneyland California. My family and I had visited Magic Kingdom during our trip to Disney World at the end of July. There was no wait time to get onto the Mad Tea Party. There were situated social distancing markers within the queue if you did have to wait for 6ft physical distancing. Once you get on the ride, you choose your tea cup. You can easily sit 3 people within the teacup. In the center of the tea cup, there is a wheel that allows you to spin it by rotating. It's a fun ride, but if you get dizzy, I'd highly recommend avoiding this ride. If you have one of your family members whom actually twirl the tea cup, it can go fast really quickly! read more

We're all mad here! The teacups at Walt Disney World are a fun ride and usually have a short wait time. There's a wheel inside the middle of the teacup that you can spin to your hearts desire but be careful...too much can make one very dizzy. Been there done that. Now we usually ride and let it spin on its own so we don't get over the top dizzy. I'd recommend only 2 teens/adults per teacup for comfort. A classic staple of Fantasy Land, it's one of the original rides that opened in 1971. Based on the tea party in Alice in Wonderland you climb into tea cups that spin around in circles. It is a slow loading ride so the line can get quite long during the day. However we found it empty after the fireworks show. I dragged my daughter on but in retrospect this wasn't the best idea. She suffers from motion sickness and by the time the ride was over I wasn't feeling that great either. You can really make the tea cups spin fast. I hadn't been on the ride in years but I would only recommend it it if you have never been or there isn't a line. It's the same ride you can find at pretty much any carnival although not as pretty as Disney does it. It's probably best to skip it if you too suffer from motion sickness. read more

I know it's a classic, but I think it's overrated and the queue made me grumpy. Supposedly the wait time was only 20 minutes, but it was definitely longer. Plus the queue is misleading, which annoyed me, and distressed my son who thought we were starting all over again just because of how it was designed. If you look at the Disney ride reviews I've been cranking out, you'd think I didn't have much fun. Or maybe am being a little harsh. But, it's not that - I had a blast watching my kids eat it up and love every minute. Unfortunately, it's not my kids writing Yelp reviews - it's this 35-year-old curmudgeon. And a lot of the gear in this complex simply isn't up to modern standards and the rest of the experience, much less the price of entry and expectations an adult has of the venerated Walt Disney World. That said, this ride - the "teacups" - may be the only old, unchanged, Disney dinosaur that I'm not going to somewhat nail for being old and not up to snuff. The teacups transcend all that, quite literally. Maybe it's because they're simple, and void of any dated "magic" (read: animatronics, 3D, etc.). Or, maybe it's because they're just a dang-good carnival ride that anyone, no matter your size or age, can have a great time and make themselves sick on this goodie. Whatever it is, I'm crushing my inner curmudgeon, if just for this one review. It's the teacups - you GOTTA do it, no matter what. My wife and I had never gone on the Mad Tea Party teacups, because we have no young children or grandchildren in Florida to take to Disney Planet, but we were walking around waiting for a Fast Pass on some other ride and saw no line for this, so we jumped on. It is one of the original rides apparently, a classic. All of the teacups swirl around the "table" and you control whether your own teacup also spins around using the round plate in front of you. The more you turn it around, the more it spins. You can see a few shortsighted dads spinning their teacups madly, either to show off or to gain revenge for a previous temper tantrum. I say shortsighted because I imagine at least a few of them ended up with little Johnny's lunch on their shirt for their exuberant efforts. I probably won't go on it again and I am surprised they even offer fast pass for it. I guess it must get busy sometimes. But it was worth doing. How else will you ever be able to play adult Alice in Wonderland and actually sit inside a teacup? read more

This is a classic teacup ride. On my last trip to Disney I skipped this ride. This time my kids were having none of that so I waited in the short line and grabbed a teacup. There are two way to take this ride. The safe, normal way where you just allow the ride to spin you around very slowly. Or you can do what I did and spin the teacup manually so fast that your children scream with delight. Delight and terror. If you focus on their faces while you're spinning at warp speed you'll get a better experience. If you do go with my method, prepare to be slightly dizzy and stumbly when you exit. This is a classic ride and I already see it becoming a nostalgic part of my son's visits to Magic Kingdom. Even at only 4 years old, he remembers spinning inside the brightly colored teacups the year before (he picks out his favorite colored cup every time) and laughs the whole time he's on the ride and making the cup spin faster and faster. I'm not a big fan of this ride or the way I feel spinning around and around, especially so quickly, but I'll keep riding as long as my son loves it so much. At least the ride itself isn't too long. It doesn't seem to ever be that hard to get on, and is also available during extra magic hours and the not-so-scary Halloween party. Fastpasses are readily available, too, but I haven't ever seen the lines long enough to really necessitate having one. We'll be back again next year to spin in another teacup. read more

We love the teacups and ride this one pretty much every time we are in the park. It's a classic ride that is still fun today. That being said, I would never wait a long time for this ride. Typically the line is between 5 - 15 minutes when we go on, but the last time we were at the park there was a 45 minute wait. Nope. It's not really worth almost an hour in line, however you can typically ride with a short wait. My daughter loves the teacups and loves making the cup "spin, spin, spin". This ride is great because you can spin your cup as slow or as fast as you want to. Even adults could have fun on this carnival style ride. read more

I love spinning in cirlces. Always have, even as a little kid I loved to twirl around. Still do. Hubby and I got in the tea cups. I had never been in them before so I didn't know how to make them spin. He grabbed the wheel in the center of the tea cup and the more you twist it the faster you go. He had that tea cup spinning as fast as it would go. I learned early on if you keep you eyes on a fixed object you will not get dizzy, so I stared at hubby and giggled like a little kid. Hubby forgot to stare at a fixed point and had us spinning so fast he became nauseous. At the end of the ride we jumped off and he needed to sit a while and get his bearing. I on the otherhand wanted to ride again. This is one of those rides you can become a complete kid and just laugh and laugh and laugh. Love it. read more

If you can walk straight when exiting this ride, you haven't done it right. You need to spin, and spin, and spin till you are about to puke. Don't worry about your kid, they are fine. I swear, the-twirl-and-hurl reflex must not set in till 10 or older. They WANT to spin that fast, but their little arms just can't get them there, bless their hearts. Definitely a favorite. Love to see how fast we can make it spin round & round before the song ends. They have added a Fast Pass option with the new Fast Pass Plus, which this ride didn't used to have. Even without a pass, the line moves relatively quickly. I've heard the lavender cup moves the fastest, but have no scientific way to confirm that statement. On a side note - not related directly to this ride, but the rides in general - with the new FP+ system, more attractions have Fast Pass options than they did before. While some could see this as a negative, having gotten used to this new system with two (actually three, I think) visits under my mouse ears, the FP+ system really makes the rest of your visit more efficient as it doesn't really take three hours to wait in line any more for a five minute ride. You can also catch Alice & the White Rabbit here taking pictures and signing autographs in the morning. read more

This is another one of those rides that you would be silly not to do when you hit up the Magic Kingdom. It never has a long wait and it's always 2 minutes full of good hearted laughter. There is really not much to say about it, you get in a tea cup spin around in circles and laugh a whole lot. My favorite part about this ride is the horticulture that is out in front of it. All the bushes are cut in such a way that they actually depict the tea party from Alice in Wonderland. I also love the fact that they have tea leaves around it that have inspirational type quotes on them. Out of place? Maybe? But sweet nonetheless. read more

One of my faves from way back. Cute, simple and the line moves relatively quickly (I certainly wouldn't join a huge line for this though). Some people still don't seem to know that you can make yourself go much faster by pulling around on the center disc. Love it! The faster the better for me!
