The parking lot outside is free. In previous years, I took four of my cats to the veterinarians here. The veterinarians spoke very politely and thoroughly to me, and they performed accurate medical examinations and treatments for my cats. Please note that the veterinarians focus mostly on preventative care, such as wellness exams, vaccinations, non-emergency illnesses and injuries, etcetera. During my previous visits, the prices for services were very reasonable. During my most recent visit, I looked at the cats and dogs who were available for adoption. All of the employees promptly and kindly helped me to learn about the pets' personalities and health issues. They gave me a form to fill out, and then they arranged for me to meet a dog in a meeting room. I thought that the animals' cages were clean. Adoption fees were reasonable and varied based on the type and age of animal. This shelter also offers training classes for dogs. The classes are available in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and the trainers use positive reinforcement.

Well organized and labeled legibly. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating was because of the prices. The clothing was fairly priced, but the furniture and other items were out of order. I have seen prices like some of them even in an antique store. An example would be a vintage Singer sewing machine in the cabinet. It was the basic model, not oak, no scroll work. This would sell at auction for $34, at a flea market...$65, at an antique store...$100. This store put a price of $499.00 on it! They also had sporting goods close outs. I purchased a bunch of gold phantom of the opera esque light fixtures for $10 to $25 a piece. All in all, it's fun to get lost here. Save the world, shop sustainable, produce less waste, bring your stuff here if someone can use it instead of a landfill.

This nonprofit organization is volunteer based and serves Westmoreland County and the surrounding areas and dates back to 1991. Their volunteers work very hard to help keep the rescued animals safe and often encounter many challenging situations while assisting these animals to survive. A wonderful fundraiser event was held tonight to help keep up with the expenses of operating this very well organized wildlife center.

I had a friend post and recommend this place on Facebook as a thrift store furniture so finally…read morechecked it out on a Saturday. I was confused and still was after looking them up. So, Zicknacks and Treasure Trove Fleatique both share same address and signage is for Treasure Trove Fleatique. Once inside, the downstairs has used furniture while upstairs has booths for different vendors of used items, a lot of it vintage. There is even a plant booth which I loved and purchased a couple plants at a good price. Sooo, after coming home and searching online I am deducing on my own that Zicknacks occupies the main floor/downstairs portion of this venue of furniture and furnishings (I never saw any signage-- did I miss it?) And other vendors occupy upstairs. I must admit this particular visit there wasn't that much furniture but I can see that this is a good option when searching. The cashier is on the main floor near the front door. Searching online it shows Zicknacks also does donation pickup and has Hauling services.

I was going to another vet in the city and getting charged $95 just for being seen for 10 minutes. The tech fee is half of that here. There's a large parking lot. And they're quick. My dog has come here for her regular vaccines, the vaccine clinics, her annuals, and when she's not feeling well. I've had a few administrative issues with email/contact information so that could use a little work. Otherwise, I love coming here. I can't say the same for my dog, because every time she comes she has to step on a scary scale and/or get poked. But this is to be expected!

This location in the East Side of Pittsburgh has a veterinary center and a shelter and also offers obedience training classes. In the past several years, I have visited this HARP many times. In 2015, I adopted two cats from the shelter (for details, please see my previous review below). These two cats still happily live with my family and me. Most recently, I donated several bags of pet supplies to this shelter. HARP collects new and gently used pet supplies for Ellie's Attic, which then gives the supplies to families who have pets and are financially struggling. I dropped off dog beds, cat beds, dog bowls, disposable diapers, a sweater, a training bell, etcetera. I placed the bags near the entrance inside the building. An employee at the front desk kindly thanked me for my donation and asked if I needed a donation receipt. Next, I asked the employee if I could visit the dogs who are available for adoption. Unfortunately, the dogs could not be visited on that day, but I was allowed to view a binder that contained printed descriptions of the dogs. I did visit the cats, and I felt pleased with the size and cleanliness of their cages.

Pleasant Valley Men's Shelter is a part of Northside Common Ministries (NCM), which is a…read morecommunity-based nonprofit that was established in 1982. The shelter houses about 25 or so homeless men. It provides each resident with a shower, dinner, and bed. Furthermore, employees of NCM provide donated clothes and toiletries, referrals for counseling, and a weekly medical clinic. I became involved with this shelter when my church was recruiting people to donate food. At 7 PM, I arrived at the shelter with my meat, vegetables, fruits, breads, desserts, and beverages. The meat and vegetables were already cooked but were in single-use aluminum pans in case they needed to be reheated in an oven. Immediately, some men met me at my vehicle and took the food into the shelter. Another man kindly thanked me for my donation. I hope that the residents and employees enjoyed the food!
