PSA!!!!!!! - THEY DO NOT TEST FOR "FIV" UNTIL YOU ADOPT THE CAT. WHAT IS THE POINT THEN? WHAT IF ITS POSITIVE THEN YOU PAID FOR THE CAT/FELL IN LOVE, THEN YOU CANT BRING THEM HOME ANYMORE & YOU CAN'T GET UR MONEY BACK??? WHAT IF YOU UNKNOWINGLY BRING HOME A "FIV+" CAT TO UR OTHER PETS??? Because, you have to ASK for the test to be done, they don't even bring it up. first time cat owners would NOT know to ask for this procedure. this is just so so cruel & sets both the pets & the adopter up for cruel & unusual disappointment in multiple different ways. listen. i got my cat from here & i LOVE him. but look at the poor condition my baby was in after being there for a MONTH. i recently revisited to maybe adopt another and it just made me sad. then vs. now pics below

    Our sweet family

You guys do such an amazing job! Thank you so much for helping complete our family with adopting Cassius. He's doing so well and truly is everything we could ever want. Thank you.

Humane society. What good are they ? I am a Pittsburgh ocal all of my life. I donate, I have adopted. I drop off supplies. I helped some kittens that were about to die. Take them there. One had a respiratory issue. (Aka sniffles). They want to "KILL" her immediately !!! Is this animal rescue ? Wth. The ONE time I need their help... Antibiotics are 6$. Really ? I will never donate a dime to them again and will share the story. Im sure the other shelters will accept my Donations, Supplies and volunteering. 6$ antibiotics vs kill the kitty. That's humane, hmmm what am I missing

In April of 2013 I lost my beloved Smokey at the age of 8. The very next morning I went to WPHS and fell in love with two of the sweetest kittens on this planet, Gizzie and Tater [formerly Gray]. The shelter was pretty off about Gizzie's personality, though. They informed me that he was very quiet, calm, nervous and reserved. Oh if only they could see him now! Perhaps he came from a bad situation? I don't think I've ever met a louder or more talkative animal in my life and he ALWAYS wants to run around and play. When I sat with Tater in the little meet and greet room he hissed at everyone who walked by. I rarely had company over so I didn't see this as an issue if he didn't like any other humans. After about 2 months he couldn't wait to greet and love up on everyone who walks through the door! He even tolerates my neighbors 3 toddlers who constantly want to hold and pet him. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. Both of my boys had all of their shots and were all up to date with everything. I couldn't be happier with my best friends!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I found a stray kitten (not neutered or vaccinated) and surrendered him to this shelter, thinking he'd be cared for. I had a change of heart and called to see their plans for him to find out they had listed him as 4 years old in their system and they were planning on neutering and vaccinating him and "returning him to the field". He was NOT a feral cat. He was possibly the sweetest and cuddliest cat I've ever met and would have been adopted instantly, which is what I thought the plan for him would be. I asked them if they could put a note down to call me before releasing him and that I would come get him myself, considering they didn't even know where to drop him off at (my apartment complex is HUGE with over 30 buildings and we are the whole way in the back). Not even TWO WEEKS later, which means this baby was NOT healed from surgery and NOT active on his vaccines, I get a voicemail saying not that they were planning to let him go, but that they already had. I have no idea where they left him and I've been searching for him for a month with no luck. If you work here- SHAME on you. There is NO compassion for animals at this place and it is just a factory trying to push out animals. I've never been so dissatisfied or disgusted with a business before. I will never understand how they can let an animal go knowing it is not protected by any vaccines. If you find an animal or honestly need any animal help do not go here, this place deserves to be shut down forever. Hope all the employees feel good about yourselves knowing you're putting loving and wanted animals out on the street! Hoping the worst karma for all of you. Truly. I'll never forgive myself for taking this sweet boy to you all.

    The girl was gorgeous.

I am a big fan of the WPHS based on the stories I've heard and the work I've seen them do over the years.

One of the things I love about this office is that they have walk-in sick hours every weekday morning. This is huge, as there have been occasional concerns we've had about our cats, but this allowed us to avoid crazy emergency visit charges. We are also able to schedule out Saturday appointments, where we can both bring the cats (it can be a lot to get them in their carriers by yourself) if needed. Their appointments do fill up fast but their walk-in hours are a great option if you are in a bind. They are also great about refilling my one cat's meds and helping answer questions etc. The staff is always nice and helpful, and the place itself is always clean. We are very happy coming here.

I was getting ready to buy Fortiflora for him after having him on a chicken and rice diet anyways... $153 for them to examine and then they're going to check poop for parasites.. which I know he doesn't have. $94 for the diagnostic exam, which was a quick hands on check for any obvious signs and then $49 for poop screen Then another $75 for Fortiflora and Metronidazole The metronidazole 500mg can be gotten online for $12, they charged me $42 Fortiflora is $34.99 at petco on sale for $30.00 and they charged me $43 Just crashing out over a waste of time. They were super kind and professional. Just doing their job. But if your dog isn't actually sick and just has diarrhea just get metronidazole and Fortiflora online and save yourself the diagnostics, poop exam, and overcharge on medicine especially some otc stuff. IF my pets were actually sick, I'd totally come back, just never seeing a vet over liquid poo ever again

From routine physicals to a few emergency visits, the staff, from front desk to the veterinarians, have been so accommodating and calming for our pup! They recently purchased the entire building that they are in and expanded their facility to have more space for the waiting area and for medical equipment. They routinely have new technicians and vets, including a seemingly routine amount of new graduates. The only reason that I'd take a way a star is that they recently installed new dental equipment to clean and pull pets teeth when they are unconscious. The rub was... for two years of visits... they pushed this service unreasonably aggressive. The first time... the vet that we were randomly assigned.. said that our dog's teeth were a major risk and tried to hand us a business card about the new dental procedure. As she reached in the drawer, the entire stock of cards was gone to her surprise. Needless to say, nothing has happened with his teeth and we never went back to Becky Ortiz VMD. We started requesting a specific veterinarian since then... and Ann Berner DVM has been amazing to our now senior pup.

On my first visit to this vet, I provided feedback on my experience and they were extremely responsive and provided excellent support. My most recent visit was also great - Dr. Berner is fantastic; personable and knowledgeable and gentle with my boy. They were able to get us in same-day but the cost was higher ($105 vs approximately $75) just as a note. They were very upfront about this! The office is clean and spacious and everyone who works there is super kind. Highly recommended!

So if you have an elderly dog like mine that takes a bunch of pills, it's a nightmare. I use Chewy for pills because it's much, much cheaper than buying from the vet. So I have to ask the vet's office for a paper prescription and send it to Chewy via US mail. The prescriptions seem to only last like three months, and there are five of them. So I'm at the vet's office like every other week for another paper prescription. And since it's an unusual process because every other vet in the world will fax a prescription to Chewy, there are often issues with Chewy (as usual, they are very nice and helpful but still). For instance, I just placed an order for two prescriptions and found one of them was out of refills. Instead of sending the one prescription, for some reason Chewy held both of them while waiting for me to send in the paper prescription. Now I've run out of one of the pills so have to buy that directly from the vet (for a lot more money) and Chewy's telling me I have to cancel the other order and resubmit it, delaying everything even longer. Unless you're confident your dog isn't going to need prescriptions, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a vet.
