Awful service, hostess, and food. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and did not get seated until 8:15 even though we talked to and saw multiple parties who did not have a reservation (and were the same amount of people and more) get right in. This was of course annoying, but we continued to give the place a chance since we have had a great experience a few weeks ago. We finally get seated at 8:15 and did not get served anything until 9:00pm. Mind you there were 6 of us and we watched two other tables of more than 6 get seated, served, and leave before us. The entire time the hostess gave the dirtiest of looks and even talked about our table to other tables. (She would look and point at our table while talking as we overheard her.) After finally getting our food, it was absolutely horrible. First of all they had to change one of the meals due to running out of the main part (which would be totally fine but was just an added on part of this experience). The fish dinners were all over cooked and dry, and the steak dinners were very under done (did not want to send back due to not getting served for so long we did not want to wait more time). I will say that the sauces on the pasta dishes were absolutely amazing. (I think it was some lobster sauce) The other only positive parts were the one waitress we had after only meeting the original waiter once and the person who asked us about the water and took plates. (They were both very kind and actually came to the table more than once.) Overall, we would never come back here even though we live right down the street. Very sad especially since the actual place was very nice looking and super close. read more

Our meal was 250 for 4 people and it wasn't worth 25 dollars. If you want to pay $35 for 4 scallops with a sauce that taste like sugar and balls feel free to go. They put a piece of ass cheese in your fig and charge you $20. Terrible food New Yorkers ripping off the tourists. Good luck. read more

Great food and great service! Will definitely return! Had crab stuffed mushrooms for our appetizer along with Buffalo Mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes! Outstanding! I went to restaurant week at Dune 18 tonight. Honestly, I have never left anything but a wonderful review on a restaurant post. My husband and I spoke to Virginia, the owner, twice before going Dune 18: The day that we made the reservation and the day that we confirmed it. On both occasions, she promised she could accommodate a vegetarian and somebody who had celiac's and was gluten free. She even listed a barrage of menu items that the person who is gluten-free could have. We arrived at the restaurant. Our table was not Ready. It was freezing cold outside and the restaurant is so small that you can't wait outside yet there is no place to wait inside. While we waited, I spoke to Virginia again about my daughter who has celiac's. She went over things that she could have for an appetizer and still promised her pasta, chicken, fish, etc. When we sat down to order the waiter looked at me like I was crazy and said we can't do any of that. I said well, we spoke with Virginia on three separate occasions, and she said you could. He went over and spoke to Virginia. And then. He came back to our table and said nope. We don't do any of that. My poor daughter, with celiac sat there with nothing to eat. She did order chicken teriyaki which had teriyaki sauce on it with gluten in it. She ordered a gluten filled appetizer and gave it to her husband. When her chicken did arrive, she cut into it and it was ice cold in the center and pink. She sent it back to the chef and it never came back to our table. My dinner arrived, which was supposed to be sliced flank steak Medium rare, and it was so red inside that it was cold. In fact, the whole meal was cold, the mashed potatoes, the string beans and everything. When the meal was returned to me, it had been stuffed under a broiler and all of the sliced flank steak was curled up on the ends, and looks like a three week old piece of meat. We got up to leave and much to our surprise, Had to pay a check for a party who had not eaten dinner. It was the worst food I ever experienced in a restaurant and I am no spring chicken. Don't go there. You will be very sorry. It is terrible. Virginia is a liar. read more

We had a wonderful dining experience. From the hostess to the wait staff, the chef who came out to check on things, to the owner Mark and his lovely wife, everyone we encountered was very friendly. The presentation of the food was exceptional, and it tasted even better! My swordfish was slightly dry, maybe a little overcooked, but everything else was ridiculously good. We were here last year and food was spectacular. This year I'm a little disappointed they never answer the phones and they don't return the voicemails left in their machine for reservations. Called 4 days in a row, left vm finally 4th day got a hold of a person and she just said we always return calls you just didn't check your messages-she doesn't know who I am so I don't think she would know if she called me back and I do know how to check voicemail. Good food, a little pricey but okay, service is very rushed. We had a 5:30 reservation, had an appetizer, entree, and coffee. We settled the check ($200 four people) as soon as it came and then the hostess came over, we thought to see if everything was okay but instead she said she needed the table and asked us to leave, it was 7 o'clock on a Friday. We weren't hanging out we had just finished coffee apparently no refills. We thought it was unnecessary and rude. If your looking for a relaxed dinner this is not the place. Overall this place was worth it. As a BYOB you are sure to get your money's worth. Started out with a chowder with crabmeat and corn. Very good. We then had the lobster flatbread. Also tasty but the tomatoes weren't the best. My wife had the stuffed shrimp which she enjoyed and I had flounder over risotto. Flounder was very good but the risotto was a little gluey. But all in all very nice meal. Service was good and would go back. LBI used to be notorious for a lack of good restaurants but with places like Dune 18 that is changing. read more

Excellent food and service. Diverse menu with lots of fresh seafood. Good size portions. BYOB. Eat outside if possible since inside is slightly noisy and often cold. Great specials especially the lobster but beware they are often very expensive. Reservations are a must. Free parking in front but caution that in season some of it is limited to 1 hour before 6 pm and Ship Bottom loves to write expensive tickets. read more

I wanted to love this place. I really did but nothing has changed since Gregory's. So here is a quick run down of our disappointments --reservations are 730. Arrived at 7:28. Told they were running behind -- 7:35- asked for wine glasses and cork screw so we can enjoy a glass of wine while we wait. Received wine glasses but never received corkscrew so no drinking prior to sitting --7:50. Seated at table-20 minutes late --8:05 (15 minutes after being seated!) water arrives and we FiNALLY had our wine opened --8:20 Ordered food --8:50 2 of 3 appetizers arrive. We start eating after 4 minutes and reminded server about the 3rd appetizer. 3rd appetizer arrives at 8:57 Almost 40 minutes after order taken --9:30 asked manager where entries were -9:47 entries arrive- dry, cold, over cooked. We are disappointed and tell female owner. She dismisses us -9:50 -male owner comes to table and gets in our faces. We are not happy and ask him to give us space to eat. He sAys that he will give us dessert for free and we informed him that we don't eat dessert. He says something like "it's all on me". We dont know if that means he is paying for our meal or we should put the blame on him. We eat our overcooked and dry meals. We all agree that they are all okay but significantly over priced for what we received -10:05. Ask for check. We get full charge. No discount. Okay, we paid and tipped our server 20% and let them know we won't be back. We won't. We live 5 blocks away and we won't go back By the way, on their menu they have a note that tables can be seated for no more than 90 minutes. We had not even received our entrées within 90 minutes. read more

Very poor service. Sat down and 15 mins later the waitress showed up to put our wine on ice and take an app order. 15 mins later she returned to take dinner order (no app arrival yet). Bread basket was a few slices of stake tasteless bread.. Dinner came at least an hour after we sat down. Waitress did not come by once between ordering dinner & meal arrival. App never showed up. It appeared as if there one one waitress for at least 10 tables so it wasn't entirely her fault that she was not attentive rather poor management perhaps. Food was mediocre. Service took away from the overall experience. Dont waste your time. read more

We just enjoyed a tasty meal and good service. BUT when we received check were surprised to learn the special we ordered was more than twice the cost of average entree. When we spoke respectfully to owner she became defensive, was unapologetic and even through under local conpetitive establishments under the bus. Unbelievable! They lost us, a repeat customer. Dune 18 is a great restaurant, food is absolutely delicious. The menu has a nice variety of choices. My husband and I both had stuffed shrimp, they were great. I would definitely recommend it to all my friends. We were a party of 6 so we had a round table to the left of the front door (looking in from outside the restaurant). It was a great table, but the seat next to the uncovered window is very hot. See through shades, like the ones in the rest of the restaurant, would be great on the two windows on either side of the front door. Can't wait to go again!! read more

My family first came here a couple months ago on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! The service was great & the owners personally stopped by the table to ask how we were. We've been coming throughout the season and have not been disappointed yet. Amazing! Please read to the end for the finale. My party of 8 stumbled in there Friday at 6:15 to see if they could seat us. We were told yes but they needed the table at 8 for a reservation. No problem. We ordered apps I.e, pork belly, spring rolls, lobster flat bread, shrimp - all delicious. For my main course I ordered the Halibut with seafood risotto. It was by far the most amazingly prepared halibut I have ever had and that's including a trip to Alaska where it was the fresh caught fish everywhere I went. It was mouth watering. The risotto was perfectly cooked and the seafood twist was just right. I am normally not a fan of risotto but this was special. My party of 8 ordered a variety of dishes off of the limited menu. Not one complaint from the table, not even from the 13 & 14 year old. I personally complimented the owner on the spectacular meal and to give regards to the chef. At around 7:15 while we were dining a group came in (our table was in front window) for their "7:15 reservation" FOR OUR TABLE. The owner (hostess) politely informed them that their reservations were at 8 and with that the group became nasty and belligerent. They were arguing they reserved it (my table) etc. for 8 o'clock. They were not understanding to a possible miscommunication (probably on their part from the way they were acting) and I think they wanted us to leave mid-meal. Such entitlement. They threatened the owner with a bad Yelp review which she gestured an I don't care about your Yelp review. Yay her. Working with the public as I do people feel they can bully you with review threats. She handled herself perfectly. The restaurant business suffered enough during the pandemic. Stuff happens. Miscommunications and so on. Stop being so angry about little stuff. This restaurant is fantastic!!! One of the best meals I have ever had in my 53 years. Go there. The service was also exceptional. I have been here prior with others, always have an issue. Not my pic to dine here, and was disappointed again. 8:00 reservation, we pulled up to a crowd waiting. Seated at 8:45 with 2 other groups next to & behind us. We were the last table approached by server for anything, no bread or water, though another employee who was attending to others, with bread & water passed us by at least a half a dozen times.. Our order was finally placed for the 4 of us,prior to the table behind us of 8. They received their food prior to us, and the table adjacent of 4, were done eating as we are served, It is now 10pm. The owner is greeting tables & and asks us how are things.. He was beyond rude, not interested in any comment regarding dissatisfaction, offered insincere apologies five times, cutting us off in our explanations, boasting that he overbooked, then walked away saying, I guess you won't be back, but we will still be here.
