I have been inside numerous sporting goods stores all of my life. I've been to ones that are good, and those that are bad. I decided to check out this Dunham's location to see what kind of bowling equipment they might have. Upon entering the store, you feel sort of overwhelmed and that feeling doesn't go away anytime soon. It's like there was no thought to the layout of the interior and it's merchandise. I really think they crammed way too much stock into the floor space they had available when the store was built. I asked one of the store workers where the bowling equipment was at, and he told me it's over by the fishing gear. So after looking around the store for 15 minutes, I asked another worker where the bowling section was, and she told me that they don't carry bowling equipment in their store, but if I wanted to checkout the Web site, I could find what I wanted online. Apparently, the workers have no idea what they have inside their own store when it comes to merchandise. Now if your looking for a great deal on University of Michigan swag and shirts they have it. Sadly, there's a small Michigan State athletic wear section just behind it. In all honesty the prices aren't bad at all. With that being said, they had only one cashier on duty, and several people standing in line. Customer service is clearly a low priority at this store location. read more

Extremely rude employees we shop at dunhams regularly and have never been treated with so much disrespect.

I asked the cashier yesterday to email my receipt for possible exchanges. Of course she never did and this was on a $250.00 purchase of various sporting goods for myself and my son. The employees treat the customers with so little respect. read more

If you want some very special or hard to find Wolverine item, then you probably should visit M Den or Moe Sports Shop. But, most of the time, Dunham's is the place to go for value in sporting goods. They have a wide variety of quality merchandise at reasonable prices. read more

Online and store window says open until 9. Arrived at 8:01 on a Saturday and it was closed. Call before you drive across town!

Was back at the firearms counter but no help. Asked the young man at the checkout and he immediately got someone to help out. The young man that showed me a few items was very knowledgeable and patient. The young man that carried my purchase back to the front counter was cordial as was the young woman who processed the purchase. All in all - a very pleasant experience. Will be back! read more

Came here with Nate and chad and asked guy at front desk to get us help in shoes and he called for help then nobody came and then he called for help and nobody came and then he did it abybord time and nobody came so we left the guy was busy shooting breeze with a hunter in the hunting section so like maybe I'll just come for hunting shift next time but not for shoes I guess unless they are huitnjng shoes read more

Good service and selection for tennis racquets. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I think they crammed this store with anything and everything, making finding what you want a bit of a chore. I came in before a race I was running to find a dri-fit tank and armband. They had, seemingly few options; far less than say, Dick's Sporting Goods. I was able to find a nice Nike top but could not for the life of me locate an armband to hold my phone. Walked around the entire running area and near the front towards the registers and still nothing. Saving grace on this visit was the 20% coupon I could use. Made paying $35 for a tank top slightly more bearable. read more

Never any help and when they do get to the register to help it is incredibly slow. Their payment system is so slow even the staff complains. They cannot look up receipts with your credit card and have no ability to send email receipts. I found out too late that you must return within 30 days or take a store credit. This is pretty limiting at the holidays as you cannot get a credit to your credit card if something is not wanted but must shop in the store if you shopped early for gifts before Christmas. Bad customer service and relations. Help is passive aggressive. When I complained about their archaic computer system and limited return window the guy just kept saying "have a great day." Very rude. Will avoid shopping there in future. read more

I only come to this store because they have a big selection, have good prices for sporting goods and it is in my neighborhood! I don't know if it is because of poor management or if they pay their staff poorly but for many years, their customer service have been "atrocious", probably the worst in the whole town of Ann Arbor! The staff has a very poor attitude: Some examples from my latest visit there: I asked for somebody to help me with shoes, somebody came out but didn't have much interest in assisting me and disappeared quickly: He told me that I could ask for him to be called again if I needed him. I had similar experiences in the past, when I wanted to purchase shoes. They probably loose a lot of customers because they don't help them out! On another occasion, I had to return a shirt and a new employee had to be trained by a collegue, but they couldn't get into the cash register, so they had to find another register to get the transaction done and it took a very long time to get it done! They didn't apologize! Meanwhile, a female manager came and chatted with the 2 employees instead of paying attention to me! Also, they have constantly new staff! I think they need some incentives or training for the staff to provide better customer service! read more

You can save some money on a wide variety of sports merchandise. I've been satisfied with the jogging shoes I've brought here at much lower prices than the jogging stores around town for comparable items, but it's frequently difficult to find someone who can go in the back room and pull out their stock for you to try on. The lady cashier who is always there is a real sourpuss. They fixed the automatic doors that for years didn't work. It's a low margin operation, which is why some of the prices are good. read more

I called ahead to see if they had a specific string for a tennis racquet. I was told yes, and an employee even said it would be waiting at checkout for me. Great! When I got the the store, the clerk scanned the item which rang up $17.99. I buy a lot of this exact string. I have my own stringing machine and string racquets for my family & friends. I have never paid more than $5.99 regardless of the source. I told the cashier that the item had scanned incorrectly, that the correct price should be $4.00-6.00. She scanned it multiple times, but the same $17.99 price kept coming up. I asked to speak to the store manger. She said she was the manager on duty and that $17.99 was the correct price. I left the store and have never been back. I bought the string at Cayman Sports a few miles away for $4.99. read more

I have had my minor issues with this store in the past. But Ian changed my mind. I called to find out if something was in stock & Ian answered the phone, checked stock & even brought the item to the front of the store ready for my check out when I arrived. Then he was super quick on checking me out. And then helped load it into my car without asking. Well done Ian! You deserve a raise. read more

Purchased a mountain bike roughly two weeks ago...a fully assembled, ready-to-go bike I was told. I was asked not to test ride it in the store for safety reasons and told I couldn't take it outside for fear I would ride off with it. So, reluctantly, I purchased the bike based on looks alone (no owners manual or anything came with it BTW). Anyway, after riding it a few times, it became obvious that the bike needed major adjustments (brakes, derailleurs etc) which I had no clue how to do. I decided to take the bike back. The manager tried, and failed, to intimidate me saying that I should have known these issues before I bought the bike. I asked him if they only cater to bicycle experts and received a not so kind remark from Mr. Intimidation. He agreed to take the bike back as long as I agreed not to buy another bike from them...yep...you read it right. In order to return something, I had to agree not to buy anything else from them.
