Surprise! As I sit here, drinking the "iced spiced cookie" coffee, that I used the drive through yesterday to receive, I am pleasantly reminded that Dunkin' has several seasonal tasty choices every year. I had gotten the "iced toasted white chocolate" coffee earlier in the week, and figured this selection wouldn't be very good, since the white chocolate one was ok, but didn't jump out at me with the flavor. If I get coffee any time after noon, I save it until the next morning to drink, so I don't have sleep issues. I get all my iced coffees without any ice. Dunkin' has STEVIA for its customers, which is still fairly rare in the fast food industry. I placed my mobile order with the stevia and cream(instead of oat milk). The flavor is definitely a winner for me. I may try it with the suggested oat milk the next time I get it. As with most fast food places, I strongly suggest you download their app and use it. Nearly every fast food company rewards their loyal customers on these apps, and some rewards are sizable. As for the price for this medium coffee, I consider $2.89 plus tax, as a very low price compared to other coffee places. I got it in the drive through. I'm dating myself, but back in my college days, as a visitor from the University of Iowa, this was a bar operated by one of my friend Bob's classmates. And the old Clyde Williams Field was pretty much across the street. After a recent 7:30 AM haircut at nearby Troy's, I hankered for a toasted bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. I decided to go inside and found that I pretty much had the place to myself. Maybe that had to do with the takeout business or the fact that ISU was still in Winter break. In any event, the bagel and coffee came out, after setting into a nice window-side booth. my choices were tasty, and coordinated well with my appetite and having time to just sit and relax. This college town shop is one of my favorites for many reasons. Reason #1- They have some of the best deals... $1 medium iced coffees from 2-6 all week long?? Back to school week free coffees?? It's like they want me to come... wild Reasons #2- clutch location on Lincoln way to get all the college students from campus or when I'm just driving across town Reasons #3- kind staff. The lids don't seal on the cups properly (where the paper overlaps on the cup). You will get coffee everywhere; on your pants, in your car. This has happened for every coffee I've bought here the last few years (a dozen or so). I attempted to contact customer service about this issue and was met with generic responses that showed a complete lack of attention to the issue. They just tried to shoo me away with $5. This Dunkin needs a new system because how they are running it now is not working! For starters the parking lot and drive-thru is a hot mess, traffic backs up on to the road on Lincoln way and on on S Sheldon, causing back up. With the renovation they should have put money into the parking lot. Inside the restaurant the workers move very slow, and there is always like 10 people back there so I do not know what's going on. When your food is ready they call out the food, not a name or number. Do you know how many people order a "Bacon egg and cheese on a croissant"? This leads to people taking other peoples food, frustration, and even longer waits. read more

This is a fine place to go both for coffee and for donuts. You should not expect to get anything special here but honestly I think that the donuts are better than what most people give them credit for and they're coffee is also really not bad for something quick and pretty cheap. I think the worst part is how the drive through wraps around in a small space which can create issues when things get busy. Overall it really has solid food and drinks as long as you don't expect super high end coffee or donuts. read more

The good news - the donuts taste way better than they did a year ago - probably using better and newer oil. Casey's had the beat by far back then = now not so much. The bad news - the people who work there are new and don't know donuts names - raised, glazed, cake etc. They need to learn and quickly as my order for 3 glazed today was 2 cakes and one glazed. Not happy to have to go back and won't because of rain. Also different parts of the country use different terms - I use raised not glazed but have adjusted. I'm not particularly fond of this location. The staff has been okay. I've been here 5+ times, and generally, the staff is indifferent but never rude and despite watching people (and myself!) take way too long to pick out their donuts, they've never been rude or rushed anyone along. I've had a couple nice cashiers on occasion, and the drive-thru has always been pretty prompt. The staff knows what their doing. As for the food, though, that's really the hit or miss. Anything that seems to need to be made at the time of order seems to usually be okay at any time in the day (like my partner loves their grilled cheese sandwiches). However, for most other food such as donuts or coffee, your best chance of getting tasty food is during the morning hours. I came in for a Cookie Dough Iced Coffee, and after driving away, within a sip, it tasted so burnt I tossed the whole thing straight in the garbage. Last night, I went in for doughnuts around 6 PM, and they were out of over 70% of donuts, and while we did get some donuts (with a friendly cashier), most of them were pretty tough to bite into, didn't taste particularly good, and honestly tasted pretty stale. We might end up eating them, but I'm betting they'll probably go in the garbage. Tables usually seem clean enough on the inside. I've never sat around to eat anything there. The straws and other materials usually seem stocked, and I'm usually in and out of the store within 5 minutes. I don't go during peak times, though. Final thoughts: Being an Iowa native, I've never really been to Dunkin' Donuts until this one was in town. Based upon this location's service, I probably would never feel the urge to go to another one. However, multiple people have just told me that this location isn't the best. I think I could agree. Your chance for best food seems to be in the mornings. I definitely am not going out of my way to revisit, but I keep coming back on occasion hoping things will be better. I just wanted to order a hot coffee. After 25 minutes in line eventually I got it. It shouldn't be this hard to pour a cup of coffee.

2 chicken bacon ranch sandwiches, one with hash browns, one XL coffee and 2 donuts for under $14. I just wish it tasted as good as the price was! Coffee was tasty (says hubby) and I liked the hash browns but the chicken bacon ranch sandwich comes in a rock solid bun - i'm all for crusty fresh bread, but not the kind that needs a jack hammer to break through it. The chicken, cheese and bacon were buried in this heaving mound of impenetrable bread and the ranch element was all but invisible! The donuts were the hero of the morning, I had the Boston scream and hubby had the pumpkin spice and we both demolished them, the 4th star is all for the donuts! read more

I've given them multiple chances before writing this review so it's been a while coming. I ordered a butter pecan latte, a sandwich and an order of snackin bacon. The snackin bacon was not fully cooked nor was it seasoned, making it completely inedible. The not cooked and unseasoned is par for the course for the snackin bacon and should be avoided at all costs. The sandwich was the best of the 3 with only the egg not being fully done and the croissant being too done. The person taking my order did not enter the latte correctly and rang up the butter pecan sundae signature latte which is entirely too sweet and I could not drink it. The last few times I got a frozen coffee which is never blended nor do they remember to put the mocha in. There are many other coffee shops in town worth the money they charge Dunkin' used to be one of them but not anymore. read more

I had a phenomenal visit to this Dunkin! After a really long day and exhausting drive, I plopped my stuff down in an empty lobby. The wifi was solid, and the staff were friendly enough to comment on my Guardians of the Galaxy shirt. After finishing my first iced coffee, they offered me a free refill. But the best part was coming back two days later on my way out of town, and they remembered my order! The Dunkin I go to every day back home can't even do that. Waited in line for 15 minutes to find out their espresso machine was broke so we couldn't get the coffee we wante. We settled for something different to drink with food. My sandwich was perfect but my wife's sandwich's egg was still frozen in the center and the patty was barely warm. We threw it away because it wasn't worth the wait in line to get it fixed. When told that it was wrong, she snapped and said she can't take it back because COVID. Then after waiting for new coffee receive one of two breakfast sandwiches. Well, we come here often on Sunday mornings because my girls like the donuts. Unfortunately, every trip in I wonder why I continue to give this place my money. First of all the staff is usually down right terrible. Not friendly and genuinely seem uninterested in helping out. I decided to write this today after many trips in because of the service that was given today. The lady at the register ( middle aged lady) who is in there a lot on Sunday mornings, was once again her normal rude self. But this time she had her phone next to her on the counter. She had someone on the phone on speaker! The person was loud and coughing into the phone. Are you serious? So I got to listen to that while ordering and getting dirty looks from the lovely worker. Unfortunately, I don't have time to write all the bad things about the employees I have witnessed over the past year. The younger girl who was with her today 3/11/18 is also a common employee who is in there who also is usually rude and disinterested in helping out. Enough about the employees... Why do you guys have fountain drinks here? I mean, take the fountains out. They haven't been working in over a year! Or at least that's what your friendly employees tell customers. Ordering any sort of food product from an establishment like Dunkin Donuts, there's a large enough chance that you won't be impressed... Which is exactly what happened to myself and apparently many others, according to the overall two star average that this Dunkin Donuts represents. However, I'm not looking to exactly be impressed, but hoping for a halfway decent breakfast. Unfortunately, getting a decent breakfast at this Dunkin Donuts appears to be a long shot when it comes down to the experience that I had. Let me break it down for those that have read this far. At around ten o'clock in the morning, I had pulled through the drive thru and drove up to the menu outside to order a hopeful halfway decent breakfast. One strawberry frosted donut. Two orders of hash browns. One orange juice. The donut already comes frosted and ready to be placed in the bag. The hash browns are already primed and ready to go for the consumer due to their popularity. The orange juice is bottled and simply handed over. Very basic motor skills are required for this order. Apparently, the staff had a difficult time with such a request. When I pulled the donut out of the bag, more then half the frosting had mysteriously disappeared when the wrapping was taken off the donut. One might think I pealed off the frosting on accident, but believe me there wasn't even frosting on their to begin with; just being left with a fried piece of dough really made my day. On top of that, somehow being watery were the frosting is. But the real cherry on top was the bag of random food I received when leaving the window. I got one burnt bagel with what looked to be vegetable cream cheese. Another burnt bagel with charred bacon, and a sad excuse for an egg. Then just one depressing bag of hash browns, cold and smashed from all the items that I never ordered. They did manage to thankfully crawl to the refrigerator, so I could wash down that decent breakfast I was supposed to receive with the packaged orange juice. Maybe the staff needs to be put in line, or the entire place should be demolished with a large enough wrecking ball so that it appeared this sad excuse for a Dunkin Donuts never existed. This morning, I went through the drive through and waited for a long time, but this is expected for 8am so that was no issue. my issue is that i ordered a chai latte, that was cold. I assumed they just poured the chai concentrate into my cup and called it good. my boyfriend ordered a caramel macchiato and all he had in his drink was creamer and caramel flavoring. just looking at the drink you could see there was solely cream in it. i went back inside to ask them to remake my drink, i don't know why i did that because they messed up my drink order even more. i got my chai latte back with brown sugar, granulated sugar, and some vanilla syrup in my drink. and it was still cold, did they think adding sugar would help? my boyfriends drink was still completely cream but now there was less syrup. it's safe to say this Dunkin lost my business. This was a great place to come for all day breakfast sandwiches. But recently their standards have fallen significantly. They have no pepper packets Lost and lots of salt packets. When asked for pepper, they diligently searched and found just 1 small packet. That was 4 weeks ago. I went there 2 times since and the situation is the same. No one has cared to check availability of basic condiments we take for granted in most fast food places. I am probably not being to be coming here again. Feel really sad though. read more

Ordered 3 chocolate glazed donuts for co- workers. Got to work and they were like soggy cake. I came to the Ames location a few days later to bring them back and was told "that's how they are in the summer, with the heat"! Not acceptable. I was told I would have to pay to replace them - no exchange. They just lost a good customer....all because they wouldn't replace $3.00 worth of donuts.... I come here regularly, you know what to expect for the price you pay. The high turnover employees is the biggest reason I've had problems with my orders in the past (adding cream/sugar without asking).
