Buckeye Bakery - The Sweetest Shark Attack in Mansfield…read more Wandered into Buckeye Bakery on a mission for donuts... and walked out like a sugary Santa Claus. I picked up a dozen-mix of joy: Long Johns, glazed classics, cinnamon rolls (the kind that whisper "just like Mom used to make"), and pecan rolls that should come with a warning label: "May cause spontaneous joy." Dropped them off with friends and boom--gone in two days, like a Netflix binge with frosting. High praise was given. Teeth were thanked. Waistbands were stretched. But I didn't stop there. Oh no. I went full dessert diplomat and made a fast-follow with peanut butter cookies and some shark cookies, because hey--it's Shark Week, and nothing says "celebrating apex predators" like chomping into one made of sugar and love. Verdict: Donuts: Fluffy, fresh, and clearly baked by folks who take their carbs seriously. Cookies: Delicious and festive--like eating a holiday. Vibe: Old-school bakery charm with new-school treat game. Next time I'm in Mansfield, I'm diving back in. Sharks beware. I bite back.

I showed up, told the wonderful women behind the counter that I'm not from here (TX here on a 6 month job), that I have zero idea what anything is in their display case because nothing in Dallas looks this good and just pick me 6 of the best things they have. 3 of the 6 never made it back to my jobsite that's 10 minutes away. The raspberry Danish, the deep fried glazed ball of heaven and the chop suey never stood a chance in the truck with me. When I did make it back, my local subcontractor looked at the box, KNEW I went to Buckeye Bakery and said "You did good". Overall, they're about to make me gain 20 pounds and lose all my money. Thanks, I guess.

I feel like there is something for everyone here! My husband thought the Dutch apple pie was out of this world. I thought it was different because it was chopped oats. We were not a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookies, the texture kinda got me, and the chocolate chips were an interesting flavor. My mom thought the pecan tarts were so yummy. I could literally taste how fresh and homemade that dough was, I thought it was very good as well, but probably would try something else instead next time. The cinnamon roll was interesting because I thought it was a lot more Joey than we used to and it had an icing on top. I actually really liked it. I am not someone that likes the super glazed sweet stuff so this was the right amount for me. My husband and I were not huge fans of the Fry pies. They were glazed, which is a personal preference. But the filling was just too much for me, I like more writing than filling, especially in the middle. It was a little overwhelming. I also felt like they were filled with more of the canned stuff rather than fresh bc of the consistency. The fresh sourdough bread was out of this world. I'd definitely recommend getting a bread loaf!!!

We have tried many baked goods in the area and I have to say the glazed donuts were one of the best I have had. So light, pillowy and full of flavor. I was not so much a fan of the chocolate chip cookies, but my family loved the molasses and ginger cookies.

I was staying close to this place & truly wanted to try it & it be an everyday stop for us…read more. unfortunately that was not the case. I had my husband stop and grab my order for me.. Their current menu was not listed anywhere. I called and spoke with someone & they were kind enough to tell me they would text me the pictures of it.. like I asked. I waited awhile & got no messages. So I messaged on FB thinking maybe they weren't comfortable texting it to me. Which is understandable, fine. But a call back would've been nice that they were not going to do so. Anyway, I received the pics on messenger. Fine. I did have some questions about some donuts that were not fully described on the menu? & the fact that my husband was getting my order.. BUT I would've asked the SAME questions IN PERSON.. anyway, after a few questions they were done with me. Told me to stop in (again, would've been same questions) I have 2 littles & would rather not "stop in" I like information prior to doing so. ANYWAY, my husband brings my iced coffee order & some donuts. All of it went in the trash. Donuts were hard & not good. The coffee overall was just not good. I never stopped here again during my 3 month stay in the area & wouldn't recommend it from my personal experience. It DOES have good reviews though, so maybe my experience was just an off day.. but it ruined coming back for me.

I ordered a large Americano with oat milk and French vanilla syrup. Either the oat milk wasn't warmed or the coffee just isn't kept very hot, but one of those caused my coffee to be just drinkable temperature, which dropped into lukewarm territory very rapidly. Not ideal. It was also overly sweet, but that's due to my own lack of experience with this coffee. I'll know to order less syrup next time. The positives: the avocado toast with bacon was good and the staff are really helpful. My avocado toast had a good amount of avocado spread, and lots of seasoning on top, which I appreciated. The sourdough was well-toasted, and the bacon was between crispy and chewy. I was greeted with warmth at the door and my food was served with a genuine smile. I downloaded the DD app so that I could start earning rewards, and the staff helped me to figure out the rewards details. With this kind of service, I will plan to come back each morning that I am here, warm coffee or not.
