For me, a great coffee shop (I know, this is a "Café" and not a "Coffee Shop") needs to have more than muffins and cookies. Croissants and scones are a must (IMHO). The chai cinnamon bread was good (not great). They offer "Gluten-Friendly" items for people with that sensitivity. What you now get for a London Fog Tea Latte is a drink with some dry foam on top and warm, flat milk underneath. Because I know they used to make these correctly, I took my drink back and asked about it. Long story short, they have replaced their original machines with manual steam wands and switched to "new and improved" machines that use automatic steaming. You place the wand in the milk, push a button, and voilà... a cup of lifeless hot milk. Dry foam on top, little to no texture below. It's fast, and I can see how it works well for a drive-through model. But it's a real disappointment for anyone who appreciates a properly textured latte with that smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Even with these machines, better texture is possible, but it takes more time and attention. When speed becomes the priority, quality is usually what suffers. The one consolation is that their Coffee Cake Muffins are still amazing.
