If that wasn't awkward enough, the kid at the window who couldn't have been old enough to vote yet hands me my order without saying a word. No "have a nice day" or "here you go, sir". Nothing. Look, I'm not one for formalities. But the very least they could do is utter some semblance of confabulation that assures me they're at least not on the verge of taking that one extra step off the roof.
