Coffee is good and I highly recommend the bold roast if you like full bodied coffee. Donuts and pastries remind me of my childhood when donut shops were found in every city. It brings to mind the older, hard working bakers with floury white aprons who baked all night and left in the mornings when the cases were full. Best donut holes around with flavors like red velvet and coconut (and seasonal flavors). Staff is top notch and friendly even when patrons can't quite make up their mind, or have large orders in the drive through. Wow we're do I start lol. The afternoon workers at this location September 22nd were so rude lazy and had the brain of an ant. Was ordering a coffee through the speaker and when wanted to change one some other worker interrupted yelled at us saying they "already made it what do we want". We stopped one night as the smell of fresh donuts and coffee lured us in after having dinner next door. It was Friday night, close to nine and the place is PACKED with elders sitting around sand having coffee and dessert. We were headed to the Lake to visit friends. What a great gift to bring....a box dozen Heav'nly Donuts. The donuts here were amazing. It was the end of the night, and the selection was limited, but we got ones like raspberry filled, boston creme, chocolate filled, and good old fashioned like gram used to make. Two stars and not one star because the girls at least tried and were really nice Came in today and was really excited to have my parents finally try this amazing chain. My dad is very particular about his hot coffee actually being hot and as soon as I handed him his coffee he asked me to go back and get him an actually hot cup. I actually agree his coffee was luke warm and I sent mine back and my moms. The girls put it in the microwave to heat it up and gave it back to me. It still wasn't really hot and didn't taste as good as you would expected a roasted flavor after being microwaved. I just don't like the idea of paying a premium for microwaved coffee and I was sad to let my dad down. Normally a great place. Got here around 8:50 on Thursday evening. Two young men with attitude were working. I know it's difficult to get help but these kids were awful. Everything we tried to order they said that didn't have it or couldn't make it even though we have ordered those items at many other Heavenly Doughnuts. It was apparent that they wanted to leave. When we finally ordered something they were willing to make, the order was completely wrong. We left without the tea we paid for or the sugar to go with the tea. PS. The boy who took our order asked "is that it" after every item. That is so RUDE and happens so often at fast food places. I WILL TELL YOU WHEN I'M DONE!! Heavenly has THE BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH YOU CAN GET IN A DRIV-THRU. They use thick cut bacon and they cook the egg right when you order it, not a frozen egg thawed out. You can choose one of the many bagel flavors english muffin or my favorite croissant. There flavored coffees iced/hot are awesome, but if you need a turbo iced I still think Dunkins is the spot for that. read more

Just got done getting a refund from here (126 Merrimack St). Both of our drinks tasted really weird, almost like the batch was sitting for too long. We got the wrong kind of cream cheese, and the bagel was barely toasted. I politely asked for a refund because we didn't want to eat here today after the experience (we are long time heavnly patrons) because obviously something was off today. Both of the workers I dealt with were very friendly and understanding, but then the owner decided to come over and berate me for DARING to want a refund for a very sub-par experience. I was told "Don't come back here, I have plenty of customers, I don't need ones like you. I'll remember your face." At this point, I gave him the thumbs up and told him "Don't worry, I'll make sure I don't" To lose a customer over such a trivial matter is absurd to me, and not how you run a business. This is the perfect example of one of the reasons that corporations are so successful, in that they don't let petty squabbles get in the way of business. Heavnly has major potential as a donut shop, as their food and drinks have the potential to be the best I've ever had on occasion but more often than not, quality control is lacking and this is not the case. With a more talented, less megalomaniacal owner, maybe this chain would be larger and more widspread than it is now. It is very sad to see so much wasted potential due to poor business decisions. read more

Though it says donuts, this donut & coffee shop has expanded their business to include soups. Can sandwiches be far behind? Ever since, we've tried their donuts and coffee, we never crave for DD anymore. The donuts, pastries and other breakfasts offerings like the breakfast sandwiches are all made fresh. Anytime of the day that we go there, it seems that the pastries just came out of the oven. Service is fast and efficient and prices are quite reasonable. Quality is way better than DD. I've given this place at least 10 chances to give me a decent breakfast, and they haven't come close. The experience my bf and I had this morning has driven us to just buy a French press and make our own damn coffee, because this place just isn't worth it despite the convenience. All we ordered was a medium latte and medium cappuccino at the drive-thru. We got up to the window, and the lady goes, "You got the coffee and bagel, right?" No... We did not order even one of those things... A few minutes later she produces the latte, which I promptly spilled all over the car because the cap was broken, and then the "medium" cappuccino, which was definitely in a 12 ounce cup. I have been coming here for years, I love the food and the coffee is always great! I usually go into the drive threw and every time I go in there I encounter the same woman, dirty blonde hair and glasses, she might be the rudest person ever. She always has an attitude. Today she asked if if I had order a Sam which and I had said no I ordered a bagel with cream cheese, which she still gave me the Sam which and charged me for it, I then confronted her about it she actually yelled at me! This also isn't the first time she has had an attitude as well! I brought my boyfriend here for the first time and he literally said I think that woman just snarled at me! I don't understand how she has worked there for so long with the horrible customer service she provides! If you're planning to hit the drive thru here on your way to work, do your co-workers a favor and add 20 minutes to your anticipated commute time, otherwise you WILL be late. This is the slowest, most discombobulated coffee shop staff on the planet. As an added bonus to start your day off right, most of the employees are unprofessional, unfriendly (to the point of being rude) and more interested in their side conversations than they are in serving the customers. I have been waiting in the drive thru, next in-line and sitting still for five minutes at the speaker waiting for someone to take my order, while the ONLY car ahead of me has had their order taken, driven to the window, sat and waited for their order and driven away. I have ordered my coffee (JUST coffee, nothing complicated) at the drive thru and pulled forward to the window, only to have to sit there while lots of employees rush around busily, but nobody acknowledges me. THEN- would you believe this- somebody comes and puts my coffee down on the counter and walks away. I had to wait a couple more minutes before someone came back to charge me for it and give it to me. (?!) I have become so frustrated with the drive thru that I do get out of my car and go inside now to order - but this is just as slow and even more frustrating since I have to stand in line and wait. and wait. and wait. and watch. and wonder why it takes so long for a cup of coffee to be poured. I won't lie to you about their coffees- They do offer a wide variety of flavors and they are yummy! so are their donuts and other pastries. But too many times I have decided on a flavor that is listed on the menu and ordered it only to be told that they really don't have it. And more times than not I have left with a cup of coffee that is actually mostly milk, undrinkable, infuriating, and just NOT a good start to the day. read more

I popped in here to have an Iced Tea and partake of some wonderful treats that we had just picked up at a Middle Eastern store. At first, I was a little worried when I saw the iced tea was so dark - I was thinking either a)it sat too long and was bitter or b)it had been brewed with iced coffee (I HATE that). To my surprise, it was fresh brewed and delicious. I decided to also get a coconut doughnut (my favorite) just to see how it tasted. Heavenly takes 3rd place in my eyes, with Perfectos at 1st. Heavenly has yummy coffee flavor selections, but not too many; and for whatever reason are always out of w majority of them. Donuts, Donut Holes, Muffins, Pastries, and Bagel Sandwiches are good too. Heavenly has the potential to be a great donut place, but only has generic flavors. If they upped the anti and tried different things people would come from all over. I would've given 4 stars but due to horrible customer service I had to give 3, and the 3 is really for good food and coffee. Drive Thru is horrifically slow, and they greet you with "can I help you" in a I just woke up I have to ask you because it's my job voice. This location allows visitors to sit inside while other locations and most other coffee shops do not. I recently went inside to grab 3 coffees and was shocked to see 2 tables of 60+ year old men sitting around talking with no masks on or masks lowered. Ordered 2 sausage egg and cheese sandwiches on bagels, 2 cheese Danish, and 2 ice coffees. Got one sandwich that was ok and one with a basically raw egg. I am talking completely clear runny egg white. Not sure how the person putting the sandwich together did not notice a raw egg, My guess they just did not care. All the employees seemed unhappy and grouchy. But at least I had a yummy cheese Danish, oh wait no I didn't because there was only one in the bag. The ice coffee was ok. My advice, stay away from this one and go to the one in North Reading or Wilmington. read more

Even at 6:30 am everyone working here is happy and awake (which is more than I can say for myself that early). The employees serve everyone with respect and get to know you, too. Now, on to the food...DELICIOUS.They make their breakfast sandwiches with REAL, FRESH EGGS, and boy does that make a difference. Their donuts are out of this world as well, and are made right there!! Their coffee, iced or hot, is pretty nice, too. My personal favorite is the seasonally available Jingle Bell Java, and luckily they have at least a dozen other flavors to choose from when my favorite flavor runs out. Smoothies, great iced coffee and hot coffee flavors. The donuts are so fresh. If you go at night and the selection is limited ask and they will go in the back for a bigger selection. My favorite is the vanilla creme filled glazed donut, totally sinful. I also love the spinach/cheese croissants. I was here a few months ago and was talking to a man who grew up coming in the area and every time he comes back to the USA he comes back to Heavenly Donuts everyday as there is nothing at all like Heavenly Donuts in Germany. The line is often to the door for good reason, people are patient and courteous is what I have always encountered. Five stars. "As good as it gets" Absolutely true. Never disappointed. I drive 10 minutes out of my way, every day, to go to heavenly before work. (Note I have a dunkins drive through right across the street from my work) Amazing coffee, always consistently good, never burnt, always made right. The girls always repeat your order back to you. All flavors are brewed, not that "pump flavor" crap at other coffee places. Friendly service, staff is amazing and remember you and your coffee. Their breakfast sandwiches are just as amazing as their coffee. Not the premade, microwave ready breakfast sandwich. Fresh eggs (or egg whites) they also offer turkey sausage. I have never experienced rude staff and while they don't have computer screens showing the order I don't have a problem confirming what I ordered when I arrive at the window. The breakfast sandwiches are awesome and fresh and they give a ton of perfectly cooked bacon with them. Far far better then Dunkin' Donuts. If I ever want to treat myself on the way to work I pick up a ham, egg and cheese on a freshly baked croissant from Heav'nly. The same friendly faces have greeted me for the last 10 years wether it is 5AM or 1PM -- even if I haven't visited in 3 months they will still remember me and my go-to order :) All of their coffee is delish too -- way better than dunks and many more flavor choices NOT made with flavor shots like it is at Starbucks. Doing some apartment hunting in the area and decided to drop in to HD. It's always hard to make a choice here but I decided on something marble. My wife wanted a flavored decaf coffee but struck out. We decided to stay anyway and eat our treats. While we're sitting and talking an older gentleman comes and asks if we're enjoying our donuts and if we would like to try something new. This place is run by the rudest man, and the service here is consistently lousy. One out of every three times I've ever gotten an iced coffee there, I would end up with flavored when all I ordered was "iced coffee," and they do NOT like to be called out in it...nor will they even give an insincere apology. I have never seen such lousy customer service, and the other day I saw why. The owner caused such a scene when I came back for the third (yes, THIRD) time after receiving French vanilla iced coffees for me and my friend each time I asked for regular -- NO apology each time. When I came inside the store, the owner called out from behind the counter as soon as I opened the door, "What's your problem NOW??" I was shocked! The store was full of customers and they all looked uncomfortable! He proceeded to insist that what my friend and I received all three times was NOT French vanilla (we are not stupid...it clearly WAS), and went on to ask me angrily, "Do you know how much iced coffee I sell every day??" Seriously? What a jerk! He even tried to "show" me the machine for the regular coffee and how they poured it out of there each time. Did it ever dawn on this guy that the machine where they hold the "regular" iced coffee had been previously used for flavored coffee and it wasn't cleaned well? Or maybe it was filled with the incorrect kind completely? Why automatically assume that the customer is wrong? When he went to make the coffees over AGAIN, I just turned around and left. I hope it made him happy to receive only $5 for the EIGHT coffees his staff made incorrectly. I don't need verbal abuse from a ridiculous coffee shop owner. Now I see why the staff is so rude. This man is the example they are following. My father knows this guy. He had dealt with atrocious customer service here last year, when he dared to bring back two apple turnovers because the dough was undercooked and the girl at the register had a huge fit...dropping the f-bomb left and right and yelling at him that the pastries were "fine," then literally throwing his money back at him and slamming the cash drawer while still swearing like a sailor. Again: Other customers were in the store. My father came in to talk to the owner about it the next day because he was so horrified and felt he should know. Oh, the guy was all apologetic and claimed he would fire the girl. Right. See above. He obviously exhibits this awful behavior to customers himself, so why discipline your employees for the same behavior? When I told my father about this, he was so surprised. Apparently, the owner puts on a good act if he knows someone who complains...all apologetic, as if he cares about customer service at all. With the random customer, he just lets it fly. It's not just me and my father who have had bad experiences at this location. It's a standing joke in the neighborhood that the staff is generally rude (most of them...not all). I had wanted to think that my father's awful experience was a fluke, but after my own experience there, I will now travel clear across town to the Heavenly Donuts in West Methuen, or even over to Bradford, where they don't argue with customers or treat them disrespectfully...and they know the difference between flavored coffee (yuck!) and regular. read more

THIS IS ABOUT THE SALEM, NH STORE: I went to the store behind the Salem, NH mall (only 3 minutes from my home). I asked for an egg sandwich, put into a paper sleeve because I don't like them in the plastic container they usually use. When in the container the steam from the hot food makes the sandwich sticky. When I got the sandwich it had just been put into the paper bag. When I asked why it wasn't in the paper sleeve, I was told they don't use them (although other locations do). I mentioned to the lady I had talked to a manager two months ago about this and he said he would get them. So either he forgot (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt), or he lied to me. When I told her I would mention it to George (the owner) she said "he owns this store but doesn't have anything to do with it". I asked her if the store was a franchise and she said "No". I guess I'll have to drive further to one of their locations that believes in customer service. read more

Writing about the Heav'nly Donuts on pelham st in methuen. The donuts are good, the sandwiches are OK, The coffee is ok. The service...horrible. Mainly not their fault but they cannot keep track of orders properly. The drive thru is a mess. They need an actual POS system where they can track and manage orders properly. The system they have now causes too much confusion. Every weekday I am there they don't ring me up for a sandwich or a coffee, and weekends its a blessing if they get my whole order correct. Their site needs some updating of their technology, and also get rid of the employees who do not care about their job which is apparent if you go in and place an order on a weekend where half the staff looks annoyed. read more
