It seems that some of the people on here don't appreciate diversity. I am not one of those people, and this YMCA isn't that kind of place either. When you come here you are going to see many different types of people from different places and walks of life. It is pretty amazing if you ask me. If you only like to frequent places where people are white, maybe try working out under that rock you came out of. The facility is clean and the staff is very friendly. They have daycare services for free while you are working out. They have "Parents Night Out" nights once a month too I think. The classes are well organized and fun. My children have participated in swim lessons, dance and ballet lessons, and Tae Kwon Do. All of them are amazing and my children had fun while learning something new. Swim lessons are by far the most effective than others in the area. My children took lessons elsewhere for months and were only able to achieve floating. They took a few lessons here and were already seeing progress. They have a large pool, a sauna, a hot tub, and a steam room! It is nice to be able to sit and relax a little after my workout before picking up my kids from the child-care center. They also have open swim hours in the morning and evening which is nice for our hectic schedule. Overall, this is an amazing place, and extremely affordable for the entire family. Terrible! They advertised that they have a Naperville fest on 23 rd August with petting zoo and everything fun for kids, we drove here 30 min and turned out there is nothing here! They told us here already that they did not get permit to have a petting zoo, online there was no notifications! They are just liars, do not recommend!!! Waste of time! read more

You really need to get the pool hours increased. The constant diminishing times due to staffing and "health breaks" is frustrating.

The older staff at the desk can be so rude to preteen and teens as they come in. my son once didn't have his phone or card and was popping in to get something he left in the locker room. he wasn't allowed without the card. My child wanted to bring a friend, but he wasn't allowed since I wasn't there at check in. The boys had to walk home because they walked to the Y from school. I drove them back and came in and we filled out a form. By that time the facility was closing in the half hour. read more

All the older receptionists members are so rude to teens and kids!!! My son wanted to bring a friend there, and we had no idea you couldn't bring a guest if you're not 18. The receptionists were so rude and condescending to him and his friend, and treated them like they broke some federal law. It's insane!!! The Fry YMCA is a very clean safe facility with a friendly staff. The pool is large and the water temperature is ideal. The dressing facility is very clean and private. It is a welcome environment to work out after a year of being cooped up in the house! read more

My son went to the preschool there. Well they closed overnight due to the director of the program quitting but still took tuition out of my bank account. It's now been a week and I still don't have my money back and I am now paying for a new preschool and day care provider. Why I haven't gotten a refund? I can't tell you because no one will get back to me after I've called and left them messages. Im absolutely furious and getting ready to file a complaint with BBB and state. They are totally non responsive about not only closing with zero notice but also issuing refunds. I would stay away from this place the disorganization here is complete and total disfunction. Fry's YMCA summer program is amazing. The facility is clean and their customer service is outstanding.

The group fitness classes are amazing. Fry Family offers a ton of Les Mills classes such as BODYCOMBAT, BODYPUMP and BODYJAM. They have a great community of Les Mills instructors and amazing members. Every quarter Fry does a huge Les Mills launch party event which is a ton of fun. The YMCA added online live fitness classes and these are perfect for people who aren't ready to venture back into the building. In person live classes are going on and there is a good offering of different classes from Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Strength and Cardio. Our entire family is involved. The place is clean and the people are super friendly. read more

This YMCA and I have had an ongoing relationship for about 10 years now. It all started when my family first moved to Naperville, and was looking for an affordable gym membership. The Y was super cheap, and the nice staff and clean services sold us on becoming members here. The free classes are also an added bonus. Then, when I became older, I actually worked here as a lifeguard and child/adult swim instructor. The lifeguards are very well trained, and taught to deal with every kind of emergency. The swim lessons were always packed, and the children seemed to have a great time. They even got progress reports so parents could see how the kids are doing! Years later, I'm still a member and go here frequently when I'm at my parents' place. The place is still as clean as I remember, with up to date facilities and a variety of equipment for use. Sometimes it does get a bit crowded, but that's to be expected since the place is very family-friendly. Keep it up! read more

My husband and I got memberships because (a) its close proximity to our house and (b) it has a pool for him to swim in. I love running outdoors, so the value I really got out of it was the FABULOUS Tuesday/Thursday morning run club! They're really supportive and knowledgable, and just plain fun to run with. However, it's after working hours--so this teacher had to stop until June rolls around again. I've been to a few classes, which were always fun and well-led... just so hard to schedule into my busy life. So I've started joining my husband swimming in the pool... when I've gone at peak times there are 3 available lanes, with 1-4 people swimming in them, depending on the day. But it often tastes like SALT! Is that sweat and urine? Is it a chemical reaction with the chlorine and the water being too warm? (I read in an online forum that that can cause water to taste salty...?) My husband has noticed it being cloudy sometimes, too... Which makes me wonder if the membership is worth $60/mo. Each. Tip: If you're under 27, get a "young adults" membership--the benefits are definitely worth that price (about $30/mo)! read more

recently took a family membership at our Y (consists of 3 facilities), most of the time we go to Kroehler (downtown Naperville), but tried the 95th St. facility and was somewhat disappointed. I used only the cardio / weight room which were very crowded and had mostly old equipment, compared to that Kroehler facility has multiple rooms, all w/ new equipment, and they are not as crowded most of the times. 95th st. facility is going to get new weight training machines which should close some of the gap, but I feel there would still be too many users in the 95th facility compared to the one in downtown Naperville. I have heard that there are two BB courts at 95th compared to one in Kroheler, but Kroehler has 3 Racquet Ball courts, none at 95th. read more

DONT HAVE YOUR KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE. I had my son's "silly science" party here last Saturday and it was absolutely horrible. Which is such a shame because it's a beautiful location! The 2 party helpers were young girls that had absolutely no idea what they were doing. They did a poor job of directing, guiding and engaging the 17 children that attended the party. The children were well behaved even tho there was much lack of direction from the staff. The science experiments they did were everything but impressive. The Coordinator Rachelle Wollnik was impossible to reach, every time I called. She would "be at lunch" who is at lunch for 2 hours? This happened on many days. Because of this, the pizzas I had originally requested (6) were never ordered for my party so my guests had to wait way too long for food. When the food got there the helpers just stood there looking very bored and unenthusiastic I had to ask them to please assist the children in serving their slice. My guests, who most were teachers stepped up and participated in engaging the children and passing out drinks, snacks, napkins, even cut and passed the cake out. This is absolutely unacceptable. That should have never been necessary but as teachers it's in our nature. Horrible experience. read more

By far the best decision I have made is choosing the ymca as my gym. I originally joined the Y in order to avoid all the creepy gym rats who reside in some other gyms. It worked! The employes here are super friendly and polite. My 18 month old loves their daycare and has developed socially in ways I didn't expect, you can use their services for 2 hours a day. Sweet! The only complaint I have is that they do not have child care open on Sundays which is a super bummer. This Y offers a variety of classes for everybody. I LIVE for spin class Tuesdays and Thursday at 915 am. They have a wide variety of machines and free weights. I am def a Ymca member for life. read more

Great swim lessons. I probably shouldn't be sharing b/c then it will be more crowded for my kids... but have to say that these are the best swim lessons in town. We have been going here for 3 years - as community participants b/c we are members at Lifetiime - and the swim lessons are worth the extra I pay to have my children take them here. Instructors (during the day, anyway) are parents who are helpful, firm, and caring. They take their roles as teachers seriously and you can really see progress with the children in the water. (They aren't there to mess around and play games... I can do that... I don't need to pay $90 per session to have someone play games with my kids..) The locker rooms are a cramped but clean. The staff is outstanding. Friendly and helpful always! The fitness rooms and machines are clean, and they even put up cute decorations for the holidays, which is fun when I bring the kids. Fry offers a ton of family-friendly events as well as regular classes. The locker rooms are very clean, and the family locker room is new. Hours, pricing, and free child care are all huge pluses! Members can also schedule free fitness consultations. My only complaints are that some of the machines are old and don't function reliably, and sometimes it's crowded, especially in the weight room. read more

Huge building with everything fitness-related you can imagine. The facility is really nice and modern. Reasonable rates get you unlimited access to swimming and most other activities. Some classes cost extra. The pool has giant floor-ceiling windows for that swimming in the snow feeling - pretty crazy. Awesome babysitters will watch the tiny ones while you work out. We joined Koehler in downtown Naperville which was very charming; however, coming to Fry which is equally close to us was like night and day from Koehler. It is bright, clean and new-so worth the family membership with "free day care". The big kiddie country with the outdoor play area won me over. The only disappointment is that there is no open swim for families on weekend mornings. We are trying out the Parent's Night Out event tomorrow, which we are looking forward to. 6-9pm on a Friday night downtown Naperville for $16 with dinner and movie for the kiddo. read more

I have been a member of this Y for a year now. The love the member swim time and don't have an issue finding a machine to use. I have two issues with this Y. 1. open gym usually means boys/men playing basketball. There is no room for anything else once the high school boys get out and anytime afterwards. Literally. I homeschool and am able to take my kids early to play hockey, kickball or just simple running games. 2. The day care hours on the weekends, or lack there of. read more

We go because it is convenient. Tried many of the classes, but so often, the instructors make a class of squats and lunges or the same muscle group. The instructors exercise with you, so rarely does anyone watch your form. I am now only using machines. I've signed up to alternate places for classes where the instructors watch your form and provide alternates for people with injuries. No matter how often you write suggestions, they are ignored. Fans are regularly not on , and they do not provide a way for the members to turn on read more

I'm very upset that Fry YMCA does not have a better protocol in place to ensure our kids' belongings are safe in the lockers they use..I was told my a director that members have access told the unlocked lockers while our kids are in swim lessons....My daughter is in Safari Club 1 and while she was in swimming lessons her prescription eyeglasses were stolen from the locker she used..They do not lock their lockers and are not responsible for them being stolen..So now I'm out of $450 to replace them. The director said it says in their handbook they are not responsible..I pay close to $300 a week for her to be in this summer camp and that's their reply..Pretty upsettling..I thought her belongings were safe and secure. read more

In the winter it is definitely overcrowded and Kiddie Country is a germ fest... They do a good job trying to keep up with their kids classes etc, but you get what you pay for. As far as their toddler classes...well...your child sits on a filthy floor in a makeshift room with a teacher who is just filling in for another teacher so they really don't know what is going on..and then your kid is all upset b/c you prepped them for Miss so and so and another lady shows up...then the next week you tell them Miss so and so will be there and Miss H shows up...A for effort and better than cancelling I suppose...unless of course you are a 2/3 year old. The toddler swimming lessons had good content but getting into the locker room was a feat enough....enough to stay home. It was completey overwhelmingly crowded with no room to move. I think I wil lsave the Y for when my kids are much older and I can send them on their own ;). read more

I have been a member of the YMCA for 6 years! We joined on with the FRY YMCA when we moved to Naperville from Dallas, TX. It was so nice to have a familiar, family oriented anchor in our new community. We decided to enroll our kiddos in the preschool and became fixtures in the workout rooms and groupex classes, which are fantastic!! All of the instructors are professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The childcare (Kiddie Country) is usually pretty lively and supervised by an amazing crew of ladies who take the time to get to know each child. We have so enjoyed and appreciated this YMCA. read more

The staff is nice and the YMCA membership price is really great but the entire facility is in serious need of deep cleaning (all the equipment and rooms appear to have a layer of dirt, sweat, etc all over it) and the locker rooms are ridiculously outdated and just horrible. They seriously need to update the locker rooms(excluding the family locker room which is actually nice) and clean and maintain the facility better read more
