David's appreciation for food made the tour that much better. We were definitely ready to eat some great North end food by the end of the tour. Along with David's entertaining stories he also shared a very moving story when telling us about the beautifully designed Holocaust memorial. Free Tours and David are highly recommended.

Signing up for the tour was easy enough though I don't really like the idea of paying the (optional) fee via PayPal. For some reason when I did that in New Orleans, it automatically created a new PayPal account for me, based on the email address I used. (Even though it says you don't need a PayPal account...) But this time when I attempted to use the same email to pay, it just wouldn't go through despite resetting the password and what not. Ended up asking hubby to pay with his PayPal. Quite a hassle. Other than that, our guide, Brian, was hilarious and passionate about educating us and I had a great time. We took the tour on Mother's Day and half of the 25 or so customers were from Europe. I think maybe there is a little language barrier as not everyone laughed at Brian's jokes. Plus it was a super windy and cold day and some just wanna go back to bed I guess. The tour was about 1 hour 45 mins. It really didn't walk far, maybe 1-1.5 miles. But I truly enjoyed the story telling. Highly recommend.

Yesterday morning, a friend and I went on a 90 minute Boston by Foot tour " Slavery and Abolition…read morein Massachusetts." It was excellent. The tour guide was Liam and was extremely knowledgeable about American history. There were 18 people on the tour from age 10 to senior citizens. He had to speak very loudly as there were lots of visitors to Boston given that it was Juneteenth holiday and FIFA Soccer fans were all over the place. I learned a lot and absolutely recommend this tour. In the afternoon, we went on another excellent 90 minute Boston by Foot tour "Black Voices: Writers for a 19th Century Revolution" which I highly recommend. The tour guide (can't remember her name) was expertly prepared with snippets for tour attendees to read out loud (if you wanted to) from each writer discussed. Then, she put the reading in context with Boston and African American history and the site we stopped at on Beacon Hill. I learned a lot on this tour and live in the Boston area. There is a lot of walking up and down tiny streets so wear comfortable walking shoes!

I learned so much about the history of the area in a very engaging way. I couldn't believe that I walked the same streets so many times before and I missed so many interesting points of interest. I also learned that the guides for this company are volunteers so you will learn from someone who is passionate about history and culture and do it because they love it!

We booked it several weeks ahead through Viator which was an easy process. The meeting place is outside next to the first burying grounds on the tour. It would've been good if the gathering place had been at an office or indoor waiting room so people could access a restroom before starting off. The group was very large but was broken up into two smaller groups. The tour was about 90 minutes and included a variety of stops with associated spooky stories. Our guide was friendly and had a fun personality and a lot of local knowledge. We didn't see any ghosts, and apparently the hotel on the tour doesn't allow the tour to go inside anymore. Even if you don't like ghosts, this is a good tour to see famous Boston sights and learn about the city!

Holy shit, what a gas... As part of our social engagement…read morefor work. We were designated to go on a bus tour of the Boston scene. Not necessarily the usual Boston, the underground Boston. Mobsters and Lobsters is a mafia story laden trip that ends up at the south shore popular lobster eatery. Although Mother Nature and the traffic in downtown Boston decided yo play games with us the owner who's name actually is Tom Collins, started off with a quick quip yo get the folks settled and the first round of beverages were begun. Tom brings us around to the spectacular locations and spots where specific mobsters from the years past were doing their cunning and not so cunning work. Tom's knowledge for this thoroughly interesting topic is unmatched. His serious knowledge of the history of other significant historical places and events speckled with his dry "Bastan" humor. Made this trip extremely worthwhile. The duration was four hours long which also included a Lobster dinner at a local eatery on the south Boston harbor. I haven't laughed this hard in a long while. If you are in beantown for a spell. I highly recommend you and you motley crew join Tom for an interesting alcohol added trip back in time. I am positive your jaws and cheeks will be sore from laughing so hard. Be aware this is an "R" rated trip! But very worth it. Thanks Tom for making this a great memorable evening.
