We really enjoyed The Hahvahd Tour! It was the perfect length--long enough to feel like we got a great introduction to Harvard and its history, but never felt drawn out or overwhelming. We learned so much about the university, its traditions, history, and campus, and our guide kept the tour interesting and engaging throughout. Visiting Harvard was something we definitely wanted to do while in the Boston area, and we're so glad we chose to experience it through this tour rather than simply walking around the campus on our own. Having the stories and history behind the places we were seeing made the visit so much more meaningful. Informative, entertaining, well-paced, and absolutely worth doing. We arrived to find out that Harvard was having their commencement ceremony in the court yard and the entire campus was closed to visitors. I'm extremely disappointed that they would offer tours without telling you that the campus was going to be closed. They are a student run company and they would have first hand knowledge knowing this information. They should at least make the information public before you book and travel to the campus to make your own decision if the tour is worth it. They are smart enough to realize this and capitalized on monetary gain instead of the patrons. Would not recommend unless you like to donate to students and listen to traffic. read more

There are currently no official Harvard tours, due to COVID, so this was the next best thing. It's an interesting walk around Harvard Square, the Cambridge Commons, and Cambridge, generally 60-90 minutes. Ours was 60 minutes, which was plenty, especially since it was a pretty hot and muggy day. Thanks Typically, the tours are led by a Harvard student, but since only about 25% of the students are back on campus right now, our tour was led by Nathanial, who said he was one of the founders. He was entertaining and told us some interesting stories and history about the sites and buildings along the way, and people associated with them. I'm pretty sure at least some of the facts and anecdotes weren't entirely accurate, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story (or photo opportunity). This tour has adjusted to COVID by offering in-person tours of 10 people or fewer, with individual listening devices, and you can bring your own headphones, or buy some from them for .99. This allows people to spread out a bit. Unfortunately, no tours are allowed to go on inside Harvard yard, but we walked around the outside during the tour, and of course, as members of the public, you can go in on your own afterward. Overall, we really enjoyed it, and would definitely recommend it. read more

Save you money unless you want to hear weird stories and some questionable history about Harvard. The tour only goes around the outside of campus and you can only go in on your own, after the tour and without your guide. Our guide had a lot of energy, not a student or alumnus and that's about the only positive thing I can say. read more

Honestly I would consider another tour or perhaps even your own tour with those free online guides where you can be certain historical information being given is accurate. Firstly the tour was not given by an actual Harvard student as advertised. We were not allowed to go inside the undergrad section of Harvard (main thing most folks wanted to see and take pics of) but the rest of the sites for the tour I felt we could have done on our own. The tour guide was a good sport and we appreciated his efforts and stories it just truly didn't meet the expectations I had for sites. Online it also advised to park in a particular garage to get validated and when we tried getting validation certain shops could not until we finally found a bakery nearby allowed to do so. Be sure to ask the guide about this or call in for more info if you do end up booking the tour. read more

We took the MIT and Harvard Tour combo. Meeting locations were easy to find and had good signage. Students led the tour and both guides were awesome! I was worried at first, with the MIT tour, because the student's voice didn't seem loud enough but after we got onto the campus it was obvious this wasn't his first rodeo and we didn't have trouble hearing him. It's so interesting touring both schools back to back because they have very different vibes. At the MIT starting location there's a Chipotle, so you could grab food and use the potty beforehand if needed. The Harvard tour isn't near a bathroom but it's near the newsstand so you can go inside and buy some bottled water or beverages before as well. We hadn't planned on doing these tours but also didn't get to plan out our Boston trip very well so a lot of things were sold out by the time we started looking. These tours were available and they ticked off several boxes of touristy things to do and see. We had to leave the MIT tour earlier than planned and didn't get a chance to tip the guide, which is sad because he was so good. So make sure you tip the tour guides! They do a lot of walking in all kinds of weather and they do a great job. My teenage son really enjoyed these tours and didn't complain about being bored or having to walk too much. read more

While on a spontaneous trip to Boston with my best friend she decided she wanted to visit Harvard. I was not interested at all but joined her regardless. This ended up being my favorite part of the whole trip! Our tour guide, Roddy, was very nice, knowledgeable, and funny. He made everyone on the tour feel welcomed. We didn't go to Harvard. We know nothing about Harvard except that's an Ivy League school and super hard to get into. And yet, I think it's a must see if you're visiting Boston. The campus is absolutely gorgeous. You can walk onto campus without being a part of the tour, but I highly recommend taking the Hahvahd tour we did. It was inexpensive and an actual Harvard student led the tour. He talked about the history of the buildings, the faculty, the stories of how certain traditions came to be, and even a few tall tales. This was my second visit to Boston and I was looking for something else to do besides walking the Freedom Trail. Somehow googling "Harvard tour" and "things to do in Cambridge" I stumbled upon the Hahvahd Tour website. This was a very entertaining tour of Harvard. Who would have thought a tour of a university could be so amusing. There was never a dull moment with our tour guides. They knew the history of the city and school, superstitions (entering side gate vs. main gate) and traditions (primal scream, shoe of John Harvard statue - don't touch it!). Now I know which dorm room Matt Damon stayed in and where Ben Affleck frequents for his pizza. Tour is free and completely supported by donations ($10/person suggested). Well worth the $10. read more

For our group, this was just an OK tour. It was a paid alternative to the free Harvard tours that were fully booked for the time we were there. There wasn't a lot of information shared, insider or otherwise, and the little information could easily have been read on our own. This tour primarily covers the outdoor Harvard Square area so don't expect anything more comprehensive or insider than that (area was open to public when we toured). Large tour group and the guide didn't wear any of the identifying info shown in the promotional photos. We walked and stopped in a handful of areas where she shared some basic historical information with the group. It was fine but not a trip highlight or anything fantastic - especially considering the cost. read more

A great tour of the Harvard grounds with interesting historical facts and tidbits led by one of their very own students. As a Canadian, a lot of the political history went over my head but still some interesting stories to be heard. They discussed noteworthy architecture, famous alumni, and various traditions which you may have heard of. Lexi was a wonderful tour guide and did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed hearing about the Widener library and the Harvard Lampoon building. These had some quirky and interesting tales associated with them, that I didn't know were associated with this Ivy league school. One of the perks of the the Boston duck tour is that the Hahvahd tour is free if you present your ticket! read more

My parents would be proud of me if I actually got into Harvard, but too bad I was only there for the campus tour. Sure the Hahvahd Tour is not the official tour run by the Harvard admissions office, but each Hahvahd Tour is led by a Harvard Student and tours are available 7 days a week and year-round (the official Harvard tour is not available on Sunday). I booked the combo Harvard & MIT tour for $21.55 (not including 3% online ticketing fee) and also ordered a discounted Harvard T-Shirt for $15 ($5 cheaper than buying at the Harvard shop in person). I showed my ticket to a manager at the Harvard Square before the tour begin and she gave me a T-shirt voucher where I redeemed it at the Harvard Shop (a student-run souvenir shop). If you only want to do the Harvard tour, then each ticket is $11.99. Our tour guide, Ryan, was really great. Ryan was a member of the football team and I really like some of his witty Titanic jokes. Not only that, his parents were happened to be in our tour group too! Our guide took us through the Harvard Yard, the John Harvard Statue (apparently rubbing the left foot will bring you good luck), Wigglesworth (it was the dorm Bill Gates stayed for his freshman year), Eliot House (where the infamous Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, lived in his 2nd year), Straus Hall (that was Mark Zuckerberg's dorm - where Facebook was invented), and Malkin Athletic Center (famous pro athletes include Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeremy Lin). Our guide also talked about academic standards and the football rivalry against Yale (also called "The Game"). Even though the tour went beyond the originally scheduled 70 minutes and ended up to be 105 minutes, the time flew by so fast that I didn't even realize the tour went overtime. The tour ended at one of the student shops (approximately 2~3 blocks away from the Harvard Square Station). I got nothing but great things to say about our tour guide (informative, animated, energetic, funny, and loud) and it was an excellent campus tour for a tourist like myself! read more
