From COVID-19 stand point- The staff wear their masks properly and wash their hands before touching your hands. There are a lot of people in the salon on a Saturday but still maintaining a seat apart. Overall, I was a walk in and it's a pretty busy place and the music is very oriental and calming which is nice. As I was choosing a color I had Thomas as my manicurist and he also did my pedicure, greet me and asked if I needs help choosing a color. So I asked him if he had matching colors to the gel "DND" for SNS and turns out they DONT they only have a very FEW select of matching colors from range 1-70 I believe. So that kind of threw me off because usually salons have matching gel to SNS. So that took about 20 minutes to find a SNS that matched the color of my toes. Thomas however did a great job with my Nails and toes. He made sure Everything was perfect and i was satisfied. I think he was fairly new because he had some people watching over him. read more

The page for this business is a joke. You can't actually book something online, instead you have to fill out a form and they email you with a confirmation. Ok fine. A little annoying, but fine. I revived an email the next day, confirming my appointment for a bikini wax and pedicure. I showed up a few minutes before my appointment and checked in. The girls at the fro t asked which service did I want first? Odd, I would have thought if I had a appointment, t hat would have been decided by the staff's availability. I chose waxing, and a tech came up to get me. She leads me back to a room that was barely bigger than a walk-in closet. She stands there and just looks at me. Now I'm confused. Normally an aesthetician will walk out and give you some privacy to undress. I finally say "um. We are doing bikini, right?" Glad I asked, as she was fully prepared to wax my already super thin eyebrows! I told her no I was not there for that. She looked rather confused, and let repeating "eyebrows?" I told her no each time. Then she said something I couldn't make out, although with wearing a mask, it wasn't her fault entirely. Finally she realized I was not going to let her wax the 'brows, and she turned to open the door and then walked me back to the front. As soon as she got up there, she started talking in her native tongue to a man I am assuming is the manager. He looks at me and says "no eyebrow?" I told him I had a confirmation for bikini, but never mind, he was already leading me towards a seat to be in the pedicure. The pedicure experience itself was decent. My tech said hi, asked me which one I wanted, I chose and then on we went. I realized a few minutes in I had not been given the chance to go and pick my color. He asked what color I wanted, and he went to find one. His choice came close to what I had in mind, so that was good. Most of the pedicure proceeded with very little to no conversation, so I had time to observe my surroundings. As others have said, it looks like a factory in here. There had to be no less than thirty stations. No one really spoke other than techs to one another, or those who had come in with a friend. The front staff had multiple younger girls, standing with their friends, who had come in for services, but while waiting for a technician. They pretty much congregated at the front desk, even with customers coming and going. When I was done, I was led to a table at the front to dry my nails. My tech began to walk away and I had to call him back to ask how long I should sit there for. He said "ten minutes should be fine," and left. My nails did it dry within the ten minutes, and needless to say they were smudged by the time I got home. $70+ later, and I have nothing to write home about. read more

And I very rarely get my nails done. This is my second time this establishment set my first in this location. So set up and ambience are much the same but it looks like they had more privacy for their pedicure chairs which is nice because you don't feel like you're on display. I'm super no-frills and only do regular polish with no add-ons so I rarely have any issues since it's such a basic service. They have a great selection of polishes, and from what I can tell they have a lot of gel and or custom colors/add-ons. Oh there has been a couple of instances where another language is spoken but I don't mind but I wish I could brush up on the language so I didn't feel like they were talking about me. That only happened one time to me, but those texts were very nice and professional. Aweful. Check in and headed to pick color. Heavier set guy came over and said I had to come now bc only one chair. Didn't even give me time to look at colors. I said I need to pick color. He was aggressive and seemed like he was trying to trick me into getting the most expensive pedicure bc he points to the boxes and asked which one you usually get? NONE of them dude! Had I not asked questions he'd have grabbed one and when I looked at menu that was the most expensive option. I then got SNS on my nails and they look like shit (Nikole) did them. 3 days later the entire tip is cracked off and my nail beds exposed since she didn't go close enough to the circle bed. Looks like I'm due for a fill already! She also charged me to clean up my cuticles??? From my experience when getting SNS they do the cuticles with that. I ended up paying way more than I have ever paid there and I only got almond shake and gel pedicure different than previous times. It was $116 before tip. I won't go back to these 2 if I do go back at all. Rushed and some nail techs shady AF trying to trick you into upsells. They probably get bonuses on that. I do not recommend Durbin Nail Spa. They lack any semblance of customer service- it's just an assembly line. I don't mind paying for great service and I normally tip 20-25%. But I will not return here- they look for any excuse to hike up your bill and it's just ridiculous. Overall I simply think there are TONS of nail salons here in St John's- why should I be loyal and give my $$$ to a company that is lackluster- below average at best? Nah. This place is beautiful! The moment I walked in I was greeted with a friendly smile. They have over 20 pedicure chairs and nail stations. This nail place can do it all and have every color. This place is super clean with the most relaxing atmosphere. Amy and Kate are my favorite nail techs! The manager came by to introduce himself. Usually Durbin does a great job. Unfortunately, today was only okay. The lady I had did not seem to put much effort into the "Royal Pedicure". She did not use any pressure and barely massaged my legs or feet. She seemed to cut corners and I had to ask for the metal utensil to remove calluses. I'm not sure what she did with it but I still have calluses and my feet are not soft after this pedicure. This was supposed to be a gift to myself before I deliver my baby on Monday. I'm disappointed in Durbin. I'm underwhelmed and disappointed. Not sure if I would recommend or return to Durbin after this poor experience. read more

I'm pretty high maintenance when it comes to keeping my paws on point. Even though there are tons of salons by where I live (TC) I am willing to trek through the treacherous traffic to get to Durbin Nails. I'm a big advocate of quality over quantity. I can see this nail shop getting really busy and I'm willing to wait because the craftmanship they dolled out is worth it. The salon has a sophisticated open concept to it. The color scheme and minimalistic details really tie the room together and create a softened relax atmosphere when you walk in. The highlight of my visit was the number of colors available and the shape of my nails. They're tucked away in the farther corner of Durbin crossing if you're coming right off from Race Track. The salon is next to Home Depot and in the same strip as Tropical Smoothie. I strongly recommend making an appointment. Get it queens! read more

Sometimes you get that rare Sunday off where you can just relax and wipe away the woes of the week, and then sometimes you get that not rare enough Sunday where you get dragged to a grand opening of a nail spa with your "significant" other. Like really, how hard is it to just get a little me time after a long hard week of pain and suffering. Now I'm at a random nail salon where my feet are getting rubbed and, oh now I get it! Since I can't get anyone else to rub my feet I will just have to get the very friendly staff at Durbin Nail & Spa to treat me with the respect and attention I deserve! So long story short, I'm now divorced and living in a van down by the river because apparently I'm too needy. I went here with the intention of getting a royal pedicure. I sat down and I said I wanted a royal pedicure, then the guy said no I'll give you a classic with the paraffin treatment. It's the same as the royal just without the hot rocks because your feet need it (okay thanks?)So we are doing the pedicure and we get to the end and I am wondering if that's it. I never got my hot towel wrapped around my legs which I have gotten at every pedicure everywhere. And there was oil dripping down the back of my legs when I left, and there was no massage in sight. I feel ripped off and out my hard earned money. When I went back in the say something, I was met with sarcasm and gaslighting, saying I got what I asked for and that he was doing me a favor??? Talk about terrible service. And I'm sure he went around telling the staff that I was the crazy one and that's what I asked for when it most definitely was not. He made it seem like i was going to get the royal pedicure that I asked for, and then he was going to add something on for free. But no that wasn't what happened. I went back in the get my legs wiped down from the oil that was making my legs itch and then he basically forced me to sit there and get a massage on my legs so that there "wasn't going to be an issue" even after I said twice that I couldn't stay and I had another appointment to get to.
