I would never recommend this place to anyone anymore. They used to be good. But because upset with them that they have not sent the approval to the online company for my meds for the cat which they always delay doing, they lied to me about giving me the prescription letter itself because I got it in the mail today when they said they gave it to me already and then they hung up on me and take my call back. I had to call them two dozen times before they the fact they did that couldn't understand why I'm wouldn't hurry up and approve the medication. They said they were going to do that day. I brought my pet in, and then lie to me and then hang up on me shows their care for the animals now. I'm beyond disappointed in them and I highly recommend you choose a different vet. As long as you give them their money, they don't care. read more

First off I want to say how amazing Dr. Miller and his staff are. I'm a first time pet owner and have no clue what I'm doing in regards to caring for a pet. My sweet nebula has been going to the durham animal hospital since we brought her home. On our first visit she took a liking to Dr. Miller and his staff immediately! She loved every one and wanted every one to give her some love! Dr. Miller is super informative, very down to earth, he makes me feel like any questions or concerns I have are not silly and takes the time to thoroughly explain everything to us. Whats even better is that if there is anything that we are truly concerned about he isnt too quick to give medicine, he will tell us all kinds of alternatives to things we can try to do. We have been very lucky to have found them. Every time we go they are always to happy to see our sweet girl and they don't mind her excitement, they also let our human babies be themselves while in their office. My family and I travel for work so we are constantly having to change vets for our Great Dane (he comes with us everywhere we go). We have to travel out of the country for two years and needed some specialized tests done as well as vaccines before traveling with our pet. Dr. Miller and staff were so helpful and knowledgeable on all the international requirements and tests. Their prices are more affordable than a lot of other vets in the area. Dr. Miller also did a thorough examination on our dog and was very informative. The rest of the staff was very friendly and professional. If you care about your pet do not take them here. We took our dog here for years till several years ago they explained that she had heart-worms and needed $3000 surgery. We explained that we could not afford it and when the time came we would pay to have her put down. They continued to prescribe the monthly pill to prevent heart-worms. Years later we took her to another vet wondering why she had not ever gotten sick? The vet administered the test in front of us and she had been living with Lyme Disease not heart-worms. In fact he said that our former vet should have immediately stopped giving her the monthly pill if heart worms were suspected because that would have sped up her death to only weeks. A vet that would perform surgery just to take in more money is twisted not to mention her joints were ruined from the Lyme Disease. read more

I am very grateful for this group. I called on a Saturday and they were able to squeeze me in before they closed. I have a unique breed of dog with a tendency to run fevers and typically needs urgent help. Dr. Leslie took the time to listen to our extensive history despite the office in the last minutes of its closing. She was wonderful and I could tell was interested as well. The office staff was nothing less than terrific. Debby was a ball of welcoming sunshine and Emily was personable, friendly, and so patient taking prelim notes for her and the doctor. Dr. Miller is on the top of my lists of veterinarians. We had a total crisis today of my boxer ingesting coffee beans. Thankfully, she eventually passed beans with Dr. Miller's help. She was so weak. We called Durham Animal Hospital and they were able to fit us into their busy schedule. Dr. Miller knew just how to help her. The staff is so gracious even though we had never been there before. It was a traumatic day for me, but they handled it with ease. They are now my primary care veterinarians. Thank goodness for the amazing team at Durham Animal Hospital. read more

Remember Leon, needing surgery for his fractured femur? Dr Miller agreed to do the surrendered pup's FHO surgery for $700. We set up a you caring account for $1500 to cover that surgery charge, and additional rehab and equipment he would and did need post-op which has included NMES therapy, Laser treatment therapy, his vaccinations, medications, food, and bedding. As posted on his you caring site, any additional funds after Leon's adoption would be used to care for animals in his rescue. Over a month after Leon's surgery and discharged from Dr Miller's care, it appears after seeing the outpouring of public generosity, he has taken advantage of claiming the remaining credit on Leon's account, and requesting an additional $388.79 to charge full price for the surgery since donors were so generous, not the price he quoted at the time of care. In my opinion Dr Miller's actions are unethical, and greed based, taking advantage of our hard work of fundraising for Leon who still remains in foster care recovering. Those who generously donated to his surgery should be aware that a month after being discharged, Dr Miller has now taken advantage of Leon's vet credit, and demanding additional money. His actions will be reported to the Better Business Bureau read more

I have been a client of this clinic since last year. The purpose of the first visit was treat my cat for worms. I was told a stool sample was needed, but one was never taken. I was given a receipt and sent on my way. The second visit was for an update on two vaccines, rabies and distemper. I was sent home with a receipt and no rabies tag or information. Soon after leaving, my cat began vomiting and having diarrhea. This went on for several hours until I called the emergency vet in the area and was directed to bring her in. As a first time cat owner, the fact that an adverse reaction to vaccination may occur was unknown to me. I feel it is the responsibility of a veterinarian to make this type of information available to a new pet owner, however, it was not provided to me and my cat was not tested for adverse reaction prior to receiving the shot. Thus, I had to spend several hours in emergency care later that evening and lost over 200 dollars. The clinic did not take responsibility for this mistake after I made it know to them. Additionally, after this incident, I was called and told that I should come to the clinic to receive my rabies information that was not given to me on the day I came in. Furthermore, I was also left a message saying I need to pay additional money because I was charged for the wrong vaccine. Although the vet and technicians are very friendly, there is a level of professionalism and care that this clinic simply does not offer. Not only will I not come back to receive care from this clinic, I will never refer my friends or coworkers to come here either. read more

I went to this office after being recommended after my husbands parents dog going there (cancer). My husband and I have only one cat now, after having one die of pancreatitis in September. And to our horror we found a lump on her a few days after Christmas. We went to Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital and the experience was horrendous. We got her records bc whatever we were going to do we definitely did not want them to do her surgery. Their lack of communication and customer service made me very uncomfortable with them. Now I work at a doctors office, so I know some of this was good luck/timing. The next day I called to schedule an appointment, they got me in a little bit more than a hour from then. Great! Dr. Miller evaluationed her and looked at her records. They were able to get her surgery done that afternoon! And everyone there was just so friendly. Jordan, Debbie, and there were a few more but I forgot their names were all so friendly! It was honestly a blessing to have found a vet that actually calls to check up on your pet. I actually might just make them my primary vet now bc I was so happy with how made us feel. read more

I have been a client at Durham Animal Hospital since moving to Durham in 2011. My neighbor recommended the practice and I have always been very satisfied with their care. I was nervous when Dr. Cagle left, because I really liked him, but I love Dr. Miller! Here's why. Until very recently, I was an impoverished graduate student. My young, otherwise healthy cat, turned out to be prone to struvite crystals in her urine and UTIs, both of which seem to be triggered by stress. Throughout the whole saga of figuring out what was going on, Dr. Miller took a conservative, budget-friendly approach. He always talked me through all diagnostic and treatment options and gave me his honest opinion about what was best. He never pushed me into expensive treatments or procedures and was always candid about costs and risks. I appreciated that so much--but the real reason I love Dr. Miller is that he always spends the first few minutes of each appointment talking in a baby voice to my cat. He is clearly an animal lover, and I trust him completely with my beloved Amy Wynn. The staff is helpful and warm to both me and my Wynn. I highly recommend Durham Animal Hospital! read more
