This is a hidden gem in rural Missouri. Good food, great atmosphere, awesome personalized service. Nice selection on the menus. We went for grilled shrimp and the catfish shrimp platter. Very nice portions, better price (around $15). Good for groups. Nice wine, beer and bourbon selections. Family friendly. Worth the extra couple of miles if in the area. read more

Durso Hills Winery is no longer opened because the owners built & opened a new place outside of town.--Victoria Vineyards. So this afternoon my husband & I along with another couple decided to take the hour drive & check out the New Establishment. Upon arrival we saw that it was packed. Which is usually a sign of good food. The hostess said it would b awhile because a group of 30 just came in & they only had one waitress. Which was fine with us cause we were going to spend the afternoon there. We sat for 30 minutes & NO one even came by with menus or to take drink order. So my friend went up to the bar & asked if we could order from there because we saw people up there placing orders. But the Gal said No they would get to us soon. Then about 15 minutes later we saw a table that just came in get waited on. My friend again goes up to the bar & asked if we could order drinks on a tab while we waited. She was again told NO we had to wait our turn. So she asked why that table just got waited on & they told her - ...they are our friends." So after wasting almost an hr of our time we decided we should take our business elsewhere. We were really excited about checking this new place out but after this experience I don't believe we will be returning. read more

We've all heard the expression that you only have ONE opportunity to make a FIRST impression. Well here is ours with regard to this place: My husband and I were so excited to drive from the Cape Girardeau area to visit the only local winery we'd not yet seen. My first thought after walking in was that it was a restaurant more than a winery. A place where the locals frequent. We felt overdressed here. We were immediately welcomed by hostess and seated. After that we were never acknowledged again. Not once. We finally helped ourselves to menus at a nearby table. The staff was dressed so casually, it was difficult to distinguish them from customers. Not the typical winery at all! After waiting about 30 minutes I approached the counter which you would think would be for wine tasting but no. Not at all strangely. I asked if we could go ahead and place our order please. I was told they were busy and would get to us. Like a schoolgirl, I sat back down. After another 15 minutes or so, I noticed a table be seated and their order immediately taken. So here I go again to the counter and and asked if we could at least order a beer and was told no, that we would have to wait because they were busy and short handed. I said I understand that but we should at least be served drinks , place our order, and start a tab. She was in my face at that point with her irritation with me and told me that we had to wait. This was the same gal that had seated us. My husband was ready to leave before that point but I was trying to give another opportunity for the staff to keep us as a customer. So we left. This was close to an hour total. I understand busy. I have worked as a server. Even during the busiest of times you STILL acknowledge your table, you bring water and menus and take the drink order and bring them. Take the food order. Then waiting awhile longer for our food would have been more tolerable. This is by far the most bizarre dining experience we've had in our 60ish years of life. However, even so, after ALL that, we would allow them to make amends. We are not difficult folks to get along with, but I'm sure others can understand our frustration. read more

It was my first time ever going here and I was really looking forward to it. What a disappointment! We were with a large group, approx 12 -15adults and about 5 kids. But it took almost 30 min to get our drinks, some got theres right away, but we did not. Then it took 1:45 min to start getting any of our food. We were trying to wait patiently, we knew our waiter was really busy. When we finally got our food it was cold for most of us, and the fish was mostly just breading. The chicken strips tasted like an off brand bag junk! Coleslaw was 1/2 warm didn't like it at all. My husband and grandson both asked for a refill at least 3x, that they never got, so attempted to eat there meal with no drink! NONE of us finished our meals! My son asked to speak with with manager about our service, and apparently after some apparently back and forth, because he originally only wanted to give a 10% discount, he had agreed to a 20% discount. We had separate bills and the only one he gave discount to was my son's bill. So when another person in our party simply asked to speak with him, the "manager, Owner" Jay came out of the kitchen SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS at us. Telling us to "F" off he didn't want any of our money "F" it! "Get out" said that about 10 X! "GET OUT AND DON'T EVER COME BACK! GET OFF MY PROPERTY " over and over! My other son attempted to speak with him "calmly" but that wasn't gonna happen! We really just felt like a discount for a 2 hr wait "with kids" for food none of us could eat, empty drink glasses! Should of been extended to all of us. He was VERY BELLIGERENT, unprofessional, and inappropriate. The place looks great! I wasn't drinking so can't comment on the wine, but to deal with all that, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING WORTH IT! read more

My wife's family (hello Haislars) owns a farm right next door to the new Durso Hills. While I liked the old place, this new place seems like it is going to be incredible. They have a large, very beautiful, front bar and restaurant area, and they're building a large reception space in the back. Inside it feels like a really fancy, really clean converted barn (except it's brand new and never has housed an animal - other than my brothers-in-law). Very spacious, what feels like 30' ceilings, and a enough wood / shiplap to make Chip and Joanna Gaines jealous. As of October '19, the new location is open while still in the process of finishing internal construction. It looks like they have a month or so of work left to go. So, if you want the full menu and bar, you'll have to wait a little longer. However, if you're okay with light appetizer / limited menu meal, they have some good things available. Lovely owners, good food, good atmosphere. I'd say to check it out if you're ever nearby! read more

Only restaurant in town, but don't let that mislead you. They have an excellent selection of food, wine, and beer. Definitely the best selection of craft draft beer within an hour in any direction. Their house salad is delicious, and the specials each night are usually pretty solid. They are only open some days during the week, so do your research. It gets pretty crowded on the weekend, but they always seem to have an open seat. Including great outdoor patio seating, covered, and non-covered, for if the weather is right. They are opening a pizza restaurant next door as well. read more

Excellent choice of wine and beer! I usually don't like Missouri wine but I do like Durso Wine. The food is very good. You wouldn't except this standard of food in such a small town. The service is outstanding and very friendly. Love the patio area too read more

We go for every special occasion and have yet to have a bad experience there. Atmosphere is great, food is great, wine is great. Their chocolate red wine is the best wine I've ever had IMO. The only downside is no cell phone reception but on second thought, maybe that's part of the charm...escaping social media and life's demands for a while. 5 stars from us!! After driving out of our way from SC for a return trip to Durso Winery, ~ we were elated to meet the new owner and sales site. We had previously visited in 2008 when we were impressed with the operations, but today even more is in store for those wandering the back roads of Southeast Missouri for a unique collection of locally produced wines. The Norton and Chambourcin dry red wines compete with the best produced in the state of Missouri. How do we know, ~ we've now visited 50 of Missouri's 95 Norton producing wineries! Unlike so many other Norton wine producers from Missouri and other states (317 Norton Wineries in 25 states), Durso does not release its Norton wines until they are matured for proper tasting which can take five or more years resting in bottle. read more

We ended up in Marquand for diner at the recommendation of a cafe we had been to for lunch not too far away. We wanted to get something to drink with our meal, and I mean alcoholic, and we had seen all there was to see in the other town so this was what they recommended. The decor was very rustic and left a little to be desired in the middle space. It is obviously a country chic kind of thing. The bar area was nicer with a lot of local art all over the walls. The food was good and the drinks were much appreciated! If you find yourself in Marquand there isn't another place to eat so this is it. If you are looking for a drink it seems like this is about it too! read more
