First couple impressions were that the windows at the front were filthy. Next to the window in the front by counter was a huge stack of supplies, plates, cups etc. I could hardly understand the young man taking my order and I had trouble hearing him because one of the workers was sitting at a table talking on the phone at what sounded at the top of his voice. The gyro was okay, but I honestly didn't feel it was anything special, but wasn't bad. You get your beverage of choice from a cooler that the glass was so dirty you have to open the door to see what's in it clearly and really didn't look that clean. I went to the bathroom where there was a reddish plastic cup laying on the floor near the toilet and the walls looked like they dipped a yellow rag in paint and smeared on the wall. The room behind it near the read door was so packed with tools and stuff it was flowing out into the hallway. Just an overall uneasy feeling about the cleanliness. I won't go back. read more

I seen Turkish food and really just wanted a Turkish coffee, this is more of a Mediterranean grill. Let me say this though, this was one of the best Gyros I have ever had. This is one of our favorite gyro places. Small, family run with great baklava and gyros. It is counter service, they have drinks in a cooler and a small seating area. Years ago when we returned from Greece someone recommended this as authentic, all of the adults who traveled together agreed it was close to the street food we had in Greece. This was definitely a "let's try it" and we were so glad we did! My boys both got the gyro and fries and they were impressed, and since they are foodies-that is hard to do! The gyro meat had great flavor and a bit of crisp, which is a nice twist from what we are used to. We stopped in on a Saturday at lunch time. A tiny little suite in a strip mall, dark, normally what I would describe as intimate. Today's fears bring about macabre words such as spooky and deserted. Nobody. The place was empty. Yikes! Once we spoke to a nice Palestinian man behind the counter. Whew! Sigh of relief. He said very little but was most accommodating and friendly. I Immediately launched into nirvana mode upon looking at the menu. This place IS VERY authentic. Yay me! The other five in our party? Oh well. Based on what we ordered here are my top five. APPETIZERS: Labaneh which is a delicious Mediterranean yogurt that they mix with oregano and garlic. It comes with cucs, olives and tomatoes. He includes pita bread so you wrap it all up in a neat little sammy. PLATTERS: Dolmades (rice stuffed leaves with a delightful lemon sauce). Mosakhan (he grills chicken and onion and adds sumac and fried almonds. It's served with a small salad and pita). SANDWICHES/WRAPS: Gyro. Sometimes simplest proves to be best. The meat on this thing is piled a mile high. The Kafta could be his best selection. Once you incorporate the beef with the tahini sauce, lettuce, pickle and onion you'll swear he's invented the perfect Mediterranean hamburger. He has an interesting machine to house his donor kabob. It's very efficient and keeps the meat warm and juicy. It's easy for a lamb to dry out. So it can be quite the challenge to keep the lamb moist. Durum Grill is billed as the town's best gyro but it's my opinion you try a couple of the items mentioned, too. I see us back here next Saturday for sure. 12/21 read more

A good place for Greek and Mediterranean is Durum Grill. It has real big portions. The falafel is the best item on the menu. It also has other classics. Pretty much everything is good there. It's in a strip mall in Blue Ash. Maybe that sounds kind of horrible. The food is good though. It has a small dining area. This place can get cramped, but people come because they like it, so that's a good sign. I had the falafel pita. It's about $6 for only the pita. The falafel was pretty big size. It was cooked enough without it being burnt. This was much better tasting than those Americanized gyro shops. I saw many other good looking items on the menu. Some of these include the hummus and tabbouli. It's the best Mediterranean food in Blue Ash. I have loved everything I've eaten. You can't go wrong with a falafel wrap. read more

I wish I knew how to say terrible in Arabic or maybe disgusting. Oh where to start ..... We originally did an online order through door dash for pickup. I arrive and no one is in the restaurant except for the cook/owner who in the back eating. He comes out to the counter and goes on to explain that he didn't get the order from door dash even though they sent us confirmation that they sent it to his establishment. Anyhow he tells us to cancel it through door dash and just order with him and we oblige. A gyro platter with fries and salad and substitute babagenoush, a falafel wrap , side of rice and hummus. Let me start by saying the only thing that was good was the rice. I didn't get any babagenoushe , they put the fried and salad in the same to go container so the fries were soggy and the salad was warm -- smh. The gyro meat was the worst thing ever. It was dry and hard like jerky. The hummus was sooooo chalky like they used old tahini , no lemon or olive oil and dry chic peas. I paid $35 for a seriously bad meal and I will never go to this place and I suggest no one else do. There are plenty of better Mediterranean places to eat at that take pride in their ingredients and the food they put out. You can tell this place doesn't give a damn. read more

I discovered this oasis of excellence in a strip mall setting in Blue Ash. I had searched Yelp for "authentic döner" while in Cincinnati and this place popped up. So I drove over here to check it out on my way back to Indy. I ordered a vegetarian döner, with everything. It was stuffed with ingredients and covered with just the right amount of sauce. The falafel was tasty, the veggies were crisp. I would have enjoyed a spicier sauce, and I will inquire if a spicy version of the sauce is available. This was a quick stop as I didn't have much time to spare before I had to head back to Indy. But I had enough time to note that the employees were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very clean. All the food I observed looked delicious and I plan to return here the next time I am in the Cincinnati area to try a platter. I've been here a few times before as my office is near by. Today I arrived around 12:30 and there was quite a long line. The cashier (and I believe owner) was very nice, but the rest of the employees were super quiet. I ordered the chicken durum kabab (pita filled with chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce). Once they finally started making my lunch, I realized that I wanted to add some toppings. I asked for pickles and banana peppers to which I believe she put in 3 pickles and 2 small banana pepper pieces. I also added the hot sauce they have, which is very tasty. I was disappointed however in the oily chicken. It was not all white meat and it seemed like it was cooked in 1/2 a cup of oil! This review is based solely on the food as my coworkers and I ordered delivery from here. I never visited the restaurant or interacted with staff. Overall, I would say Duram Grill is middle of the pack as far as restaurants for Mediterranean and Turkish style food. The salad is great, but felt the baba, chicken shawarma, and rice were just okay. Flavor profile was just not up to par from my experience. I like brighter flavors and felt theirs just lacked a punch! Would definitely recommend the salad, probably better to have the gyro meat as it seems to be better reviewed across the board. I got my order to go and it was all made to order. The staff was friendly and the inside appeared clean. There is a really nice seating area outside for the warmer months. Now to the food. The Gyro. The pita was warmed, the lamb meat was tender and juicy, and included was feta, onions, lettuce and tomato... just how I like it. Here is the problem, they had the tzatziki sauce on the side, which in my opinion you get less than if they put it on the sandwich. The benefit is if its a to-go order it doesnt get soggy. In this instance I am glad they put it on the side because I did not like it. It was straight watery. The flavor wasn't right either. This was my first time here. I'm not usually a big gyro fan, and didn't love the food at Aladdin when I've eaten there, so I didn't know what to expect. I ordered the shawarma on the suggestion of another patron. Excellent choice! The grilled chicken was juicy and flavorful, the toppings and the sauce complimented it all. The best part about it might have been the pita bread. It was soft and tasted freshly made. My husband had a traditional gyro and said it was good also. We shared some Greek fries, also tasty. One of my go-to lunch places if I am feeling hungry. Extremely generous portions, line moves quickly, and food is pretty good. I'd recommend their gyro meat shawurma because it is easier to eat (it's more contained for less of a mess) vs the gyro. I've also tried their vegetable option, which contains massive falafels but am not as big of a fan of its flavor. I've seen a lot of people ordering the platter, which also looks tasty. When you enter the restaurant, you will order your dish at the register by the door and specify whether you'd like custom toppings. Custom toppings are free and I normally choose this option. After you pay, you will then go down the line and, if you asked for custom toppings, will select what you'd like in your dish. There are a lot of items you can add, including hummus, baba ganoush, and red cabbage. Once you are done, they will add your protein and sauce. The dishes are extremely reasonable considering the generous portions and the fact that the price includes a free bottle of water. You will need it because the meat tends to be quite salty. The restaurant has some indoor and outdoor seating but be forewarned - if you eat indoors, you will smell like gyros. There is also ample parking spaces so is an easy place to visit for a quick and satisfying lunch! read more

So we came here, I ordered my doner and it was very good. Of all places, I was quite surprised to get doner in Cincy. I ordered the doner with gyro meat. If you've ever cut chicken up before cooking it, you know it doesn't take long to cook it thoroughly. After a couple of soft, almost chewy bites, I decided to cut into one of the bite size pieces. This restaurant is definitely worth a stop. Their gyros meat is well spiced, and if you order the gyros sandwich it comes out in a huge foil wrapper piled with meat. The baklava comes in either the standard triangle or in little tubes...I went with the tubes since I had never seen that form before, and I was not disappointed. The baklava wasn't as sweet as all of the others I've had (although the baklava in triangle form is probably sweeter). The fact that it's less sweet made it easier to enjoy the fine layers of dough...definitely worth a try. The service was excellent and they obviously care about making your eating experience special. It's a little different because you order at the counter and then the food is brought to you at your table. When you're finished, go back to the counter to pay. Since we were headed down from CBus to Cincinnati for an IKEA visit, the deal was sealed. Pretty much we were the only people in there but that doesn't even matter. The doner was phenomenal. I'm pretty sure that the gyro meat was the most well seasoned and delish I've had. It probably aided it in being even more delicious as we could see the meat being cut off of the spit. Do not order their side of steamed vegetables, as it came soaked in oil and with melted cheese all over it, and it had been cooked to mush. If you go, go with the falafels and vegetarian dishes.
