Saturday 7:30 pm and they were almost empty. Waitress ignored us till she sent another one over to give us warm water and NEVER offered a refill. She was drab in attitude. NEVER came by to ask us if order was OK. When we left at about 8:30 pm, our car was the last in the lot. I ordered the lamb punjabi. Their menu listed it as having mixed vegetables. I am by no means an Indian food expert, but Dusmesh was an excellent experience for me and my friends. Between the 5 of us, we shared two appetizers and three different curries. My favorite was the Okra - I was never a huge fan but they prepare them with such rich spices and flavor! Beyond the food, the service was top notch - when we asked for our chai tea (which is amazing, by the way) to be warmed up some more, they made us a whole new batch to the exact temperature we wanted. Overall a great experience. Take note it's BYOB so bring your favorite bottle of Riesling (the best wine to have with this cuisine IMO) and they'll give you an opener! read more

Dusmesh is one of the many Cincinnati Indian restaurants. It's located close to a few. This one has a buffet, which is what makes me like it. It's not a big one but it's not expensive. The restaurant is kind of dingy but it's cleaner than others. I like Indian restaurants because many have buffets. It's good because there's a lot of foods you don't know what they're called but you like. The buffet is about $9 for lunch. It's not huge and there wasn't a lot of vegetarian entrees. They did have a good vegetarian selection overall. A lot of these were appetizers. Like many Indian restaurants, the buffet has a salad. It has good coconut chutney. This is great for the salad. Other selections include vegetable pakoras, samosas, and vada appetizers. There's also dal and tomato soup. I like Indian restaurants more if there's a buffet. It's nice to see something before you get it. The restaurant is clean and has lots of seating and tables. read more

So sad. This used to be one of my favorite places to come for a lunch buffet. I feel like the quality just isnt what it used to be. New owners came in and I felt a definite shift. Upon entering, they were much slower to greet us. But the table service and plate clearing was ok. Honestly, my biggest complaint is the fact that EVERYTHING on the buffet was to spicy for me to eat. While that might be exciting to some, I was really disappointed. I left having barely picked at a plate and a half of food. They have more options than most other Indian places I've been and the portions are MASSIVE. I can usually get 3 meals out of a single order. Soooo disappointing. First of all, while flavorful, the "stuffed" Garlic Naan literally was something else entirely. I've had Naan from dozens of restaurants and I've never had it where it's so oily. Naan Is usually two visible layers w/ "stuff" in between, if desired. This had the garlic pieces all on the outside and it was just one layer of greasiness. Most disappointing was the Tikka Masala. UGH. It was literally a bowl of soup. In fact, after drinking half of the (VERY small bowl), I still hadn't come across ANY chicken. It tastes exactly like tomato soup, which I love, but wasn't what I wanted today. Other restaurants in Cincy -- like Swad (unfortunately, not on GrubHub) are not only MUCH, much better, but portions are twice the size for the same $$$. read more

We've eaten here for the lunch buffet for years and it was always ok, not bad but not the best. This visit was different!! Honestly, the best Indian food I've had in awhile. This review is based on a delivery experience with Dushmesh via UberEats. I have not been to the restaurant, so I can't comment on service or dine-in experience. I didn't notice when I ordered chicken tikka masala, that the app didn't ask me for a spice level preference. I didn't notice this until I tasted the food. We also ordered some of the chef's special naan, which was REALLY good. The tikka masala had great flavor, but I definitely would have preferred a little bit more spice to it. The serving size was PLENTY of food, but perhaps a little smaller than some of the other restaurants in town (meaning, you could eat this over 2-3 meals as opposed to 4). Per usual when eating indian food, I felt like a total lush. I'll definitely have to stop in to the restaurant to check it out soon. read more

To be honest I've never had a problem with this place until recently. I ordered a to go order and they said it would be 20 minutes. I waited 1 hour for my food to be ready once I arrived. This is hands down my favorite Indian spot in the city. It's not fancy nor does it boasts about its prolific Northern or Southern Indian cuisine......it just is! A tiny little hole in the wall with a nice selection on the menu and the buffet. To this day, I have not had a Mango Lassi ANYWHERE that stacks up to the one they serve here. Unlike most restaurants this one has been consistent for years and every time I go is like the first time. How often do you get this type of experience? I've Doordashed this place for years but finally made it in for the lunch buffet. Because I came in on the tale end of lunch though, a lot of the food was scarce. However, the food I did have was pretty good traditional Indian cuisine. If you're unfamiliar with the plethora of options available, I'd recommend the buffet to figure out yoUr likes and dislikes. This place is a bit cheaper than some of the popular Indian restaurants in Cinti but the food is just as good. That's the reason I chose to give 3 stars, instead of just 2. Because the buffet options were scarce, prior to lunch ending, I couldn't give more stars. I recommended arriving at least an hour before lunch ends to ensure the most options. This is an a-OK Indian eatery in the middle of busy Clifton. If you are into creamy mild curry and all you can eat lunch buffet, this might be a good spot to grab a lunch. I was here several times for lunch buffet only. My boss takes our group here from time to time, as it is a great choice for vegetarians and carnivals alike. As with all all-you-can-put-in-your-mouth buffet, the key is to stick to one or two choices and limit coming for seconds. I usually take Chicken curry or Tikka chicken. Both curries are very rich, creamy, but also strong on tomato paste. The food is generally ok, but rather bland and not really spicy or flavorful. I never got excited about anything, the buffet is dull colored, moderate in flavor and at times the chicken in the curry is hard to find (depends on what time you come, some people 'fish' out all the meat and leave the sauce behind). The Basmati luke warm rice is not exciting either. The interior is modest, to say the least. Furniture and window curtains are way past their prime time and the kitch cheap posters around make me rather sad. I would not come here again if it was not for my work colleagues, who seem to like the place more than I do. So maybe it's just me :) read more

This is my go-to spot for Indian food in Cincinnati! I have done uber eats and take out at least a dozen times and the food is always ready in 20-30 minutes. There is a delicious selection of naan (I love the one stuffed with cauliflower) and I enjoy both the chicken and vegetation entrees. You can easily get two servings out of each entree and still have extra rice left over. The chicken tikka masala and aloo ghobi are my favorites. I have also dined-in twice, once for the lunch buffet and once with a group for a graduation celebration (it is BYOB!) and they were easily able to accommodate our large group. read more

There's no doubt the food here is good. The first sign is a PACKED parking lot. Yes, a busy restaurant is always a good sign. I've been here twice before - once for dinner quite some time ago and once for the lunch buffet. Both of those experiences were pre-Yelp. Tonight's dinner rocked my world. We started with the vegetarian sampler and some papadum. The papadum was fresh, warm and crispy with a hint of heat. The vegetable samosas were SO fresh - a big difference from eating them at a buffet (no, not comparing to the Dusmesh buffet). The sampler came with other things Indian. I am obviously not an expert. I eat a lot of Indian food, but I don't pay too much attention to the names of things. Each item was quite delicious. I ordered Saag Paneer for dinner because I always do. We shared a chef special naan. My dinner was out of this world. I've eaten saag paneer across the continent. This was truly the most amazing saag paneer I've ever had. As I was eating it I thought, "pay attention to details so you can report back to Yelp". Well of course I didn't. I am not really all that good at delving into the detail of the spice, flavor, mouthfeel, etc. All I know is the saag paneer at Dusmesh put me in a plate-licking mood. Did I? Well of course not. I'm not that uncouth! But by golly it was extraordinary. My partner LOVED his chicken vindaloo. He came away with the same feeling, "That was amazingly good and so much better than any other Indian restaurant food". For Indian in Cincinnati, and there are a LOT of places from which to choose, Dusmesh is THE place or Indian cuisine. And if you're so inclined, BYOB. read more

Last night I tried this place again for the first time in 7 years. I'm told that the restaurant has changed hands at least once since then and it showed. I was a bit skeptical of all the favorable reviews and I am a big fan of Ambar which is right up the hill, but I found that everything about this place was well executed. I was running about five minutes late for my date, but when I arrived, having never seen me before in their lives, the staff knew who I was, called me by name and led me to a booth in the corner where my date had already been seated. The staff is extremely friendly and greets you with smiles and warmth and does not seem to let any sort of language or cultural barriers come between them and their clientele. Once seated we opened a bottle of red wine that my date had brought. The server at Dusmesh was kind enough to provide us with the necessary utensils to cork and serve our BYO bottle. For dinner, I ordered the Bhatura and Lamb Korma- my date had the Panir. Dusmesh uses the 1 to 6 spice level scale that I think all Cincinnatians are now accustomed to. The Lamb Korma was excellent! At spice level 3, the Korma was spicy but it did not detract from the taste which was perfect. The Panir I felt had a bit too much of a spicy after taste (spice level 5). The Bhatura tasted like Bhatura. Overall the cost for our meal was VERY reasonable. $26.00 (before tip and taxes) for two meals and the bread. I would say the cost was significantly lower than at Ambar and that the food was of the same high quality. The only thing I would take away from this place is that going on a Thursday night they closed at 10:00 and you could tell that the servers wanted to get going. The music was turned off right at ten and everyone was wearing their coats, so we did feel a bit rushed, despite the fact that they had otherwise been keenly hospitable.
