Came here for dinner during UC graduation weekend and had such a great experience. Krueger Tavern in OTR was the perfect spot to celebrate. Our server, Kaleigh, was an absolute gem. She was attentive without being overbearing and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. We started with the soft baked pretzels with beer cheese, house truffle chips, and loaded fries (added chili). Everything hit, but the fries with chili really stood out. The chili is different from what you'd find in California, but in a really good way. Super flavorful and worked perfectly with the fries. For entrees, we got the Krueger Tavern burger, the Bleu Gruyère burger, and fish and chips. The burgers were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. You can tell they take pride in their food here. Parking was surprisingly easy with both street parking and a nearby public lot, which made things stress-free during a busy weekend. We sat outside and the ambiance was beautiful. Great vibes, great weather, and just an overall solid experience. Definitely recommend if you're in OTR. read more

This restaurant has a good balance of feeling upscale and intimate while also feeling comfortable with sports on TV, booths, and bar seating. The menu isn't large, but it doesn't need to be. We recently ordered Kruegers for carryout. We placed our order online as a timed order. Our order was ready on time, and everything was correct with what we ordered. Of the things that my family ordered we enjoyed the burger and French fries. The Gruyere grilled cheese was fine, it was just much different than what I expected. My husband said it tasted to him like a "chicken Parmesan grilled cheese" (without the chicken. The mac and cheese was also fine but it isn't something I would probably order again. I will return again, but we will all probably just stick with burgers and fries so we can be sure that we enjoy it! read more

This is definitely my go-to place to take an out of town date. The kale salad is so simple, yet unmatched in flavor and I love to get it with fries. (My own girl dinner.) Any meat-eater I've ever taken always loves the burger and on a post-theater date, my mom got the fish and chips and enjoyed that as well. I'm definitely a fan of Krugers. We checked out Krueger's Tavern today for the first time and what a happy little surprise! They have a lot of bar seating and banquette seating as well. And I love the beautiful retro tile floor! Of the three Thunderdome restaurants on the two blocks of Vine St, Krueger's Tavern is the one I visit the least. I think my last visit was back in 2016, but the food is excellent, so I should definitely stop in more regularly. First up, you definitely need to try the spicy chicken parm sandwich with crispy chicken, spicy vodka sauce, pepperonata, pesto, arugula, and provolone on a Blue Over potato bun ($14). A lot is going on with this sandwich, and the flavors really work well together. It is not super spicy, but it does have a little kick thanks to the vodka sauce. The blend of peppers and onions in the pepperonata makes for a really great sandwich topping. The cheese helps hold it all together; otherwise, this could be a messy sandwich to eat. The hot beer cheese is also delicious. It is made with Kronenbourg 1664 and sharp cheddar, and a large portion of it is served with 3 pretzel sticks ($12). The lemon hummus is unique and also very good. It is topped with Mediterranean-spiced carrots, cauliflower, and smoked paprika and served with toasted pita ($11). read more

Very small restaurant with friendly staff and seemingly clean tables. Justice was our server and was great! Mac and cheese was really tasty. Gooey and also stringy. Not greasy. Fries were okay but not something we would order again. Very basic with lots of brown spots. Burgers were delicious! Depending on where you're seated and what you order, your experience could be much better than our experience last night. After reviewing the menu we were pretty sure what we wanted to order for dinner. We were less clear on appetizers. Our server highly recommended the Pesto Jar. We were pleased she did; it was delicious. The seasoned ricotta, tomato jam, pesto, toasted Allez Bakery durum bread were perfect together. The tomato jam was a nice, tangy foil for the ricotta and pesto. The bread was outstanding. Mark ordered the Blue Cheese and Gruyère Burger with Fries. He absolutely loved the burger and I can attest to the fries being delicious. I was not a fan of the malt vinegar aioli, but it was easy to bypass, since the fries were deliciously lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and were perfectly crispy. So what... a two-star review? What's up? I can say with everything reviewed above, Krueger's Tavern was on course for a four-star review. First, the plates on the table to be used with appetizers were dirty. I thought perhaps they were older plates that had scratches on them, but the marks on the plates were easily rubbed off. Our server was happy to bring fresh plates. I didn't take pictures of the dirty plates, but I noticed in the pictures of our meals the plates on which they were served had the same dirty marks. Next my sandwich, the Chicken Club. It was very good, but I forgot it had haricots verts until I pulled a long stem/vine out of my mouth. There were a few other bites that included inedible pieces of the bean. You can see them in the pictures. One star off for not only not properly cleaning the beans, but also putting them onto the sandwich. For the plates and the beans, one star off. Each of these is easily corrected. Next was my view, a view which is available for at least three tables on the same side of the restaurant as the restrooms. The view was of multiple mops and brooms. There has to be a storage location to keep these items out of customers' views. One more star off. Had we been seated somewhere else and I'd ordered something without haricots verts, we would have had a completely different experience. read more

It was my first time having a veggie burger and I was pleasantly surprised how moist it was. There was a bit too much pesto and it kinda overwhelmed the burger. The fries were thin and crispy. They have a variety of cocktails and wine, including orange wine which is very limited around most places in Cincinnati which was a huge plus to see on the menu. This place is known for their smash burgers! We ordered the Krueger Burger and it lived up to the hype. It had great flavor! My daughter ordered it as it comes, and I got mine without a bun since I was trying to be low-carb. Both were great! We also ordered the fries which were nice but didn't have as much flavor/seasoning as I would have expected. The server was very polite and helpful. Do you know how normally waiters and waitresses are kind? They ask if you need or want help on the menu, sound. We've all politely deferred, but tonight was a different story. In all my bluster, I confidently informed our waitress of my ability to read. Wasn't trying to be a dick, but definitely sounded like one. Currently feeling the weight of a trillion ton dunce cap as I pass along this humbling mishap. To a seasoned server, she pressed on, bringing us ales and cocktails to stall our imminent sandwich selection. Albeit my ability to read, I often find myself not looking down to do so for the first 15 minutes within any establishment. Stopping to smell the metaphorical roses ya dig. Spicy Chicken Parms was a beautiful idea. Round of beers for the kitchen really. Sadly, spicy was an overstatement. The red pepper purée presented was tasty, yet far from expected. Kreug's has long bathroom hallways and patient hospitality. My dilemma is the identity crisis at hand: spunky or nice? Taverns with clean interiors juxtapose everything it sets out to be. Kreuger's Tavern never misses! This was me and my wife's second time coming here, and just like the first, we left absolutely stuffed. The fish and chips is hands-down a banger--crispy, flavorful, and the kind of portion that makes you feel like you got your money's worth. The chicken parm was another favorite--super savory with just the right amount of sauce and cheese (not drowning in it like some places do). And don't even get me started on the fries--huge portion, perfectly cooked, and honestly enough to fill you up on their own. The vibe here is chill and casual, the kind of spot you can relax at any night of the week (they're even open until 10pm most nights, which we love). On top of that, the staff really took care of us--when they found out it was my wife's birthday, they surprised us with a complimentary appetizer, which was such a thoughtful touch. The burger- which was a single patty rather than their usual double- was decent as were the fries. The spicy chicken parm was so close to being great, but, despite its spiciness, it was bland & desperately needed some salt. The simple kale salad, on the other hand, was great- so bright & flavorful & fresh! Overall, we weren't unhappy with the food, but we were underwhelmed. Rated Top Veggie Burger in Best of Cincinnati! Took a girls trip to Cincy and with my friend being vegetarian we knew we had to try this burger ASAP! Enjoyed a dinner here during Cincinnati restaurant week. I was more than excited when krueger's reopened in this new location post pandemic. While it's small, the decor and ambiance are great here. It can be loud at times, but it's tolerable. On to the meal. The menu for restaurant week is a great deal since a couple gets a shared appetizer and then each of us got our own side, sandwich and cocktail from the menu. The drinks were fresh, tasty and beautifully garnished. My favorite part of the meal was the fried mozzarella - crispy hand breaded fried fresh mozzarella. Great cheese pulls and flavorful pepperonata and basil aioli. For the dinner course we had broccoli rabe and fries with the Krueger's burger and spicy chicken parm sandwich. The rabe wasn't my favorite as it was in a savory sauce and I wish it were crispier. The fries and burger were perfect as always. The chicken parm was good but the flavors weren't evenly spread. When you got the bite with the spiciness it was really good. Overall this was a fantastic deal for restaurant week and I'll be back in the future for sure. read more

Delightful dinner at Krueger's. First time back since the remodel. Love the new look. I'm a sucker for a good tiled floor. We sat near the bar along the window at a high top. Nice view of the street. Started with the beet salad. Loved the cold beets and cheese. The creamy cheese was divine. Wish it came with a little more arugula. We split the spicy burger and fries. The burger came with a warning that it is very spicy (an 8, 9, or 10 on a spice level). I thought it was pretty spicy and I'm conservative when it comes to that. It was a spice level I could still enjoy the taste of everything else. The slaw is the spicy part really. The burger patty was kinda bleh and a little grey colored. Loved the bun. The fries were dope, loved the aioli (nice garlic flavor). Service came with a smile. Place had a good crowd for a Monday night which is nice to see. read more
