I decided to check out Groupon, and I went ahead to text Dustin and he responded in a timely manner. He was super helpful even texted me a picture where I should park. Love the signage outside of the place. Everything was very clear. He greeted me when I walked in and said he was finishing up with someone else. The only drawback really is that he was finishing up another client, so ended up working on my hair almost a half hour after our scheduled start time. Thankfully, I coordinated childcare with my husband, so didn't have to make it home at a certain time. He asked me to show some pictures of what I wanted, and I proceeded to do so. This guy is definitely a hair artist. He is someone who will tell you what he thinks will look good on you. I asked him to cut off a couple of inches, but he refused because he thought I would look too much like a soccer mom lol. He pumped up the volume of the music and went straight to it. He offered snacks and beverages and really makes sure that the customer and client is comfortable. He is old-school in certain ways, but super endearing. For example, he doesn't love to use the flat iron and will blow dry your hair with a round brush and call it a day. The color looks pretty incredible! He definitely knows what he's doing. I has been going to Dustim for a few months and he said he has to do my hair slowly so he didn't damage my hair I want paying the Groupon price and he was charging me a different price every time I came. The month before I came it was almost Greta except I was in the chair for almost 5 hours and he was late doing my hair by almost 45 minutes. He wa very busy that day because of his Groupon deal. He had an assistant that did all of the mixing and processing of the bleach and the color in the roots . She put on a very very dark color and u kept telling her it looked too dark I have been having my hair done for decades ans noticed this and even mentioned it to Dustin. He allowed the color and bleach to remain on my hair for over an hour at the same time . Now he keeps trying to have my reviews taken done and I have pictures of my recipes and I will continue to put them up every fine he has them taken down. My hair is over processed and thee different colors and keeps falling out. It's not normal and this is not what I paid for . It's is very dark on the top and my friend that goes to hims even sis the same thing. I have posted pictures and he has them taken down. He yelled at me on the phone with my husband there on speaker phone and said that he would fix it but he is not responsible and so I asked for a refund and he said that he spent the money all while yelling at me. Then he texted me that he want going to give me back my money! Just be careful. You do get what you pay for he is very reasonable in price but has no idea what he's doing on blond byalage. What kind of backwards Salon uses Windex to remove stains from someone's forehead? Leticia colored my hair and when she was removing the stains from my forehead I notice she ran out of solution so she went to the back and applied Windex to the towel. She came back and started rubbing the windex soaked towel to my forehead. When I confronted her she said I didn't use Windex And says it's solution in a Windex bottle. Finally Dustin the owner jumps in and he said this is an old trick from back in the day. If this is the case then why lie to my face? I left and when I got home I noticed her dye job was terrible. See attached photos. The things that annoyed me was I made an appointment with Dustin himself to dye my hair. He was 20 minutes late so Leticia did my hair instead. I gave this place a shot after a couple years. The last time I had an appointment with Dustin was years ago and I had to wait over an hour to the point that I finally left. Dustin is always late and has no respect for people's time. I called for Dustin him to fix my hair but he was too busy for me so David who is an angel fixed my hair. I did some unfortunate things in the last few months with the hair color... deciding to add blonde highlights on top of the all over red was NOT my smartest decision - I blame all of this on my regular hair guru up and leaving for San Diego and a recent breakup. Those things are enough to make anyone go completely nuts with their hair. I found Dustin Burrows on Groupon and was pleased with the work they did on restoring my color. They're currently working out of a Salon Republic location but are moving... which I'm happy about. Walking through this Salon Republic is like ghosts of hair technicians past - that I've tried and for one reason or another, they haven't worked. I'm not sure if I'll stay with this group or not... I liked how they really worked with me on the color but I will say - I was uncomfortable with how the woman that did the color work kept saying "this will be MUCH better than what you walked in with..." and made me feel like... WOW... did my hair suck that bad before? And she said it like three times. I'd probably work on that speech a bit. I bought a Groupon on Yelp and made an appointment nearly a week in advance. I called hours before my appointment to confirm the date and time - all green lights were given. This is in addition to the text confirmation I was given the day of my appointment. Less than 20 minutes before my appointment, I received a text cancelling my appointment - this is after I arranged for a sitter, confirmed twice - the last one just a few hours before. I was given a lame excuse and an offer to reschedule during working hours after I was adamant about an after 5 PM appointment. They barely apologized and made any effort to accommodate. I have so many amazing things to say about this hair studio! I had been going to the same hair stylist for 18 years before moving to Los Angeles. Dustin colored and cut my hair and worked alongside his studio partner David. They were SO fun!! I laughed the entire time. Once my hair was finished up, I couldn't believe how amazing it looked. It was EVERYTHING that I had asked for and more. My highlights were so natural and done with such detail. Dustin cares so much about his clients and the final product of his artistic work. Trust me, you'll know exactly what I mean after that blow-dry. I recently had my second appointment with Dustin and can't believe that I left happier this time than I did my first time (which was already SO great). Spot on. DO NOT GO HERE! I hate writing negative reviews, but I also hate being duped. I specifically booked an appointment with this Salon based on the overwhelming amount of positive Yelp reviews. I booked the appointment with confidence, but it turned out to be THE WORST salon experience of my life. Some minor issues included difficulty finding the underground parking garage (I ended up using metered parking that I had to refill twice), inability to connect with a staff member over the phone, and my appointment not starting on-time. These things are easily forgiven and don't influence my rating - just small annoyances that I had to deal with in the process. I had request subtle highlights to cover some gray hair, but I received tacky blonde highlights that were left in way too long and did not compliment my skin tone or aesthetic. When I asked for 1-2 inches cut off plus a "sweeping bang", Dustin promptly told me that I should not get a sweeping bang because it is not "modern". At first, I went along with his suggestion, but partway through the haircut I asked for him to trim my bangs. He finally agreed, but kept insisting that it was an outdated look. I have NEVER had a hair stylist treat me with such disrespect. I left the salon feeling terrible about myself and my hair color. He listened to what I wanted to have done, offered some suggestion and absolutely delivered what I wanted. Dustin uses a special technique that I have never seen in the 15 years I've been getting my hair colored or highlighted. I totally trusted his opinion and it paid off in a beautiful way. Since my first experience at Dustin's salon, I have returned on 3 different occasions and the service keeps getting better and better. Normally I have a great colorist but he's expensive and I thought this is such a simple dye job, what could possibly go wrong if I try to save a few bucks on Groupon? A lot apparently. Dustin worked on other clients and had his assistant do all the work. He only instructed her what colors to choose. In their first attempt, they failed to hide the old blonde highlights. In their second attempt they overcompensated on the dark pigment and now my hair is solid black. Not even slightly brown, just black. I didn't freak out in the salon because I thought it might fade a few shades after a few washes. Nope. Still solid black. The whole point of going back to natural was to save my hair from more damage but guess I'm going to have to dye my hair again to get it right. I found this salon on Groupon, and they're located conveniently in salon heaven (Salon Republic). After going in for a consultation, I set up an appointment the following weekend at noon for a bayalage treatment. I texted them the day before to confirm my appointment, which is something the salon usually does, but anyways they told me to come in at 12:30 instead. I was a bit annoyed since I made my appointment a week ago, and had another appointment to get to at 3:30 pm in West Hollywood. Anyways, I get there at 12:25 p.m. on a Saturday and I am told to wait outside for Dustin. I'm waiting and waiting, it is now 1:20 and they are finally ready for me. I was very frustrated because my birthday party was later that night and I didn't have wiggle room to deviate from my schedule for the day. As I am seated, Dustin gets a call and he leaves the salon to talk on the phone. I am now beyond the point of frustration and decide to get up and leave. Dustin stopped me, completely shocked that I wanted to leave and reassured me I'd be out of the salon by 3:00 pm. I didn't want to be blatantly rude to him because he was a friendly stylist and I actually liked him, but the unprofessionalism shown at his salon was appalling.
