I received a gift certificate for him bang salon and called to make an appointment to redeem it for a hair cut. I just received a call back saying that the salon will not honor my gift certificate without providing further explanation. I am not sure if this is allowed per the California department of consumer affairs and I intend to find out. This seems completely unacceptable to me and I want everyone to know about this. Before I went to Jin, my hair and I did not get along. It took forever with a hairdryer and straightening iron to make it look decent -- most days I gave up and wore it in a ponytail. Now I actually look forward to doing my hair in the morning. Not only does Jin give masterful haircuts, but he explains how to wash and style your hair (both the full blow-out and the 5 minute quick version) and which products to use. I have been coming to Jin for years and he always does an amazing job! Jin knows exactly what each hair style and or type of hair needs and is wonderful to talk to. Today I got my hair cut and colored/bleached and he made sure that even though I have thick dark hair, the color turned out exactly like I wanted and there hasn't been any breakage. If you are looking for a first class experience by a knowledgeable and skilled hairstylist, Jin Bang is definitely the artist for you! I finally made the decision to add some color to my already unique hair style, and Jin could have not made me any more comfortable in the process. I shared with him very early on that I like to know all of the steps are involved, and he was very diligent about offering explanations and making me feel involved in the process. I admired the fact that he was not afraid to be upfront and blunt about the possible consequences of taking extreme measures with bleaching and/or coloring my hair, and his doing so ultimately made me settle on a color that was less damaging to my hair, but looked better than what I originally wanted. Jin does an amazing job on all hair types! Since I am biracial and have curly hair, most people don't know how to cut my hair properly and I end up looking like a frizzed out poodle. Jin, gave my complicated hair a nice cut that not only looks amazing when I blow it out but when I let my hair air dry it looks beachy. Now you don't understand, this NEVER happened to me before. I looked like Cruela if I let my hair air dry...but Jin cut my hair so that its pretty with or without a $200 blow dryer :-) Also, he 's truly dedicated to making you look good and not making a quick buck. And often times I have found a decent hair dresser but they are only trained in one area-one person does the highlights, someone else does the cut, someone else washes my hair. And his pricing is so FAIR and REASONABLE!!!! Before seeing Jin I had never heard of Balayage highlites. It's a type of highlighting without using foil or heat-which both can be damaging to hair. Don't u hate when a hair dresser pulls those foils out of your hair and feel like half your hair is coming with it...? I have been so thrilled with the results from Jin! And his cut was amazing. He recommended a cut that was slightly shorter on my shortest layer, saying it would accent my features and he was spot on.
