The space itself is amazing. Serj works in a private studio inside 5773 Wilshire Blvd, and he designed the space himself with so much thoughtfulness. The salon chair and the hair-wash bowl (it literally comes to you!) are the most comfortable I've ever experienced -- no neck pain, no awkward bending. The wash alone felt luxury-level. Serj then mixed together another dye for my facial hair, and a 3rd mix for my eyebrows, applying those just as perfectly. 2 shampoos, rinses, and an expert cutting later, the perfect color and shape of my beard, head, and brows is the final look you see in all the photos. The length and style of the fade on the sides and back of my hair are exactly what I was looking for. Also, the colors he mixes are perfectly natural looking! I love 1 day after photos, so the next 2 photos are of me recognizing that the look would be great for a cowboy night out.

Love the signage outside of the place. Everything was very clear. He greeted me when I walked in and said he was finishing up with someone else. The only drawback really is that he was finishing up another client, so ended up working on my hair almost a half hour after our scheduled start time. Thankfully, I coordinated childcare with my husband, so didn't have to make it home at a certain time. He asked me to show some pictures of what I wanted, and I proceeded to do so. This guy is definitely a hair artist. He is someone who will tell you what he thinks will look good on you. I asked him to cut off a couple of inches, but he refused because he thought I would look too much like a soccer mom lol. He pumped up the volume of the music and went straight to it. He offered snacks and beverages and really makes sure that the customer and client is comfortable. He is old-school in certain ways, but super endearing. For example, he doesn't love to use the flat iron and will blow dry your hair with a round brush and call it a day. The color looks pretty incredible! He definitely knows what he's doing. The after pic is a little windy so you can't see the style of the bangs that well, but Dustin did a great job with the cut and Jacqueline did a great job with the color and the style. I purchased the Japanese straightening treatment under Kelli, but the person who messaged me was Eric. I expected good service since the salon was rated 5 stars, my hair was damaged and remained curly even after following all the aftercare instructions. I'm simply sharing my honest experience because I paid for a service that did not deliver the results promised.. Just sharing my honest experience.

I pointed out that $25 was given to him as a tip---they wouldn't even do that! Kelly did mention in her response below that they actually did not refuse to give a partial refund or the tip. If you're seeing this message it means they have still not given any refund whatsoever. _______________________________________________________________________ I unfortunately have to echo the poor experience posted by another reviewer of the Japanese hair straightening. I wish I had seen that review before I made the appointment. I called Kelli after seeing a Groupon for Japanese hair straightening. She was not available to do the appointment on the day that I was available so referred me to her colleague, Eric. He did the straightening and I followed the aftercare instructions. The treatment did not work. My hair looks the same frizzy wavy way that it did before the treatment. I messaged both Kelli and Eric about this and sent pictures. Kelli admitted that the product was not left in long enough for the treatment to work but offered to fix it by doing a keratin treatment (which would not have the same perfectly straight lasting results of the Japanese hair straightening) or to do the Japanese hair straightening again at no cost. I did my research by contacting other professionals who very sternly warned me that doing another Japanese hair straightening treatment would be very damaging to my hair. I said that I did not want to come back and have another treatment done and that I would like a partial refund. Kelli's response when I brought that up was that I should just talk to Eric from now on. My intention with the post is just to warn other people about my experience. It's been 3 days and I see no red damage to my hair, so at least there is that. I think that both Kelli and Eric had the best of intentions here and I assume do great work on other procedures so all I can share is my own experience with this specific procedure.
