UPDATE: We've been back here a few times for minor things; my 3 legged dog is prone to needing his…read moreanal glands expressed, stuff like that. But today Dr. Povol and Mammas saved my boy's life. It started last night when WWD (world's worst dog) found a hole into the crawl space under the deck and came out with a rib bone from God only knows where or when. After a protracted tug of war this 3 legged brat looked me right in the eye, yanked his head so I lost my grip and gave a cartoonish GULP and swallowed that bone. Efforts to make him vomit from hydrogen peroxide were a threat to my life and limbs so we trekked off to VEG urgent care in Millburn at 11 pm. They were super nice and got him to vomit up a whole can of food but the bone stayed stuck in his stomach. After much discussion I chose to bring him home for the night because if he did need surgery I knew it would be twice as expensive at an ER facility. I called Dr. Povol at 8 am and they got us right in; 2 hours later Able was in surgery. The whole staff has been exceptionally kind and thorough, keeping me posted throughout the day and calling to check in once I got Able home. The surgery was about $2800 total which I know from experience is more than fair. He's got a belly full of sutures and is sleeping it off but he will be just fine, soon to continue his reign of terror. From last year: I'm on an extended visit with my family in Bayonne and one of my dogs got an eye infection. I've lived in Los Angeles for 25 years where we have truly human-grade medical care for pets so I wasn't sure what to expect in Bayonne. Wow was I impressed. This is a wonderful hospital. We got a same-day appointment which was really nice of them because they were busy. Every single staff member was kind and courteous and caring and professional. Once we got into the exam room we had to wait about 20 minutes and the super-nice tech came in to apologize and explain they'd had an emergency. I certainly understood and didn't care, but not every place bothers to explain what's going on. Dr. Povol came in and I loved him. He was incredibly thorough, explained everything. I saw another review where he was described as no-nonsense and I'd basically agree but he's kind and was laughing at the ridiculous histrionics of my other dog who was crying because he wasn't getting all the attention (!). I will absolutely return, my other dog can get cold laser treatments on his back and needs a dental. On top of everything else, the bill was a fraction of what I would pay in LA or at other hospitals around here. They even have their own garage for parking! Worth every penny and I recommend this hospital with 5 glowing stars. I came here because of the great reviews; there were some negative ones on Yelp that were from 2-4 years ago and they DO NOT reflect the experience I had. You will always find someone who had a terrible experience and write a review. Most times when people are happy they just go about their business, but when people are upset they are quick to post a review. I TOTALLY recommend this hospital.

Finally found a place where the doctors truly care about all the animals and not just look at it as a quick visit to get money. I needed to get a second opinion bc the first place had everything negative to say about our Frenchie and surgery that he might have had to do but getting a second opinion from Dr. Mamas has truly made us feel at ease and no surgery was ever even needed! Dr.Mamas is a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor and his honesty for our pets is very rare to find in situations like ours with our Frenchie. Both Doctors are absolutely amazing and can't recommend enough! Friendly and welcoming staff and especially the cutest dog that the staff has and always a pleasure greeting everyone! There is available parking right outside the clinic and very reasonable prices especially compared to other clinics. Furthermore, We needed a pet health certificate to travel overseas to Europe and it has always been a great and always on point experience! I moved back here 3 months ago and had a chance to go away last weekend BUT...what to do about my kid? I dont have a sitter yet and friends and family are too far away to stay over. Boarding him was NOT an Option. I found BCC and reached out to Dania. She was totally amazing! Came to the house to meet J - we went for a walk together so she could see what a brat he is and she told me about her company and the sitters who work for her. To say Dania LOVES animals is an understatement. U can tell how passionate she is about their well-being and you just know that she would never have anyone on her staff that she wouldn't trust to take care of her own kids. Mind you this was only 3days before i was hoping to go away. I asked if she would be able to accommodate and she didnt even blink! She set up meet and greets for me with a couple of her sitters and they were both awesome. Kimberly is the one who drew the short straw with J . I hope shes ok but i can report that She spoiled him more than i do! She even let him sleep with her and he IS a blanket hog Dania and Kimberley were super respectful of my home AND Dania's is the first sitter service i've had that provided me a copy of her insurance and DL as well as the girls'. I didnt even need to ask. Kimberley walked J in the am gave him breakfast returned for midday walk then back for dinner, walk and bedtime. She even fed my chatty cockatiel AND washed dishes WHAT??? Dania Kimberley and I were in contact through the weekend via text and Kimberley sent several pics of THE KING! BCC also offers daily walks which we will be using on days I need to be in the office. Payment is easy - Dania sends invoice and offers several ways to pay (we used Paypal). Now that i've found BCC im going to be taking more vacations!!! As for J? He keeps hinting that he cant wait until i go away again - hes staring at my suitcase as i write this review. Thanks Dania!!

I've been out of town several times and my dog was wonderfully taken care of. They made sure he was never bored or lonely and even brought him baked treats. The folks at BCC go beyond what is expected of any dog walking service. I've had last minute walking needs several times in the past, and they've jumped into action to help me and care for my dog. I never worry when he's with them. They're genuine, fair, thoughtful, and honest dog-loving people. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Their vets and other personnel have always treated my dogs and cats with the utmost care. Currently, my senior lab mix China has been doing well despite having developed liver cancer. Dr. Mirei Sakane, VMD has been instrumental in guiding me with China's palliative care that I opted for. China is doing very well and we're keeping the cancer at bay. Dr. Sakane has also treated China for the sudden onset of seizures and canine cognitive disorder which have both ended thanks to a cocktail of meds that Dr. Sakane is monitoring for her. The front desk employees (Grace, Christina and others) have all been very helpful and professional as have the skilled techs (Jennifer, Max and others). I can highly recommend this practice and trust them with my three doggies and my cat.

I could pickup and drop off any time, which was a godsend. I've toured every pet care facility in Jersey City, and I feel pretty comfortable saying that EDL is the best one. I love that they only take small and gentle dogs--I saw a few dogs get rejected/expelled because their size/temperament wasn't a match. They are way more selective than the other daycare facilities in the area. I guess for some families that would be a problem, but for someone like me with a small, gentle dog, it provided a lot of peace of mind to know my dog was safe. Other things I loved: - Regular outdoor walks through the day (unlike other facilities, which just mop up after the dogs) - James and crew really seem to love the dogs - No reservations needed with corporate month plan - Plenty of carpets and couches felt like home - Can watch my dog play through the window - Never more than ~12 dogs at a time, so it's not too crowded. My only complaints are that I wish there was more space and a webcam feed, but it's not that big of a deal.
