Stopped by for some coffee before heading out of town. The line was long when we arrived but they got through it quickly to the point we were the only one left still ordering. The two guys taking the order were great, very friendly and helpful even when our card was giving grief with their card readers and trying the second card to pay. They were great about recommendations, even adding ice cubes in the black coffee to cool down. The reason I dropped to 4 is the lady inside wasn't as friendly when she told us we needed to pay because it wasn't showing up on her screen. We told her the card reader was messed up and it took the other guys kiosk to read it. She kept asking and almost arguing she didn't believe us. Dutch Bros Coffee is one of that things that get taken for granted. When living in Davis, I had access to it literally 24/7 and counted on it for many sleepless nights studying. Since moving away, I've missed the Caramelizer so much...nothing I've had since then came even close. When coming up to Crescent City, it was like the "ahhhhhhh" shining moment when I saw the familiar iconic windmill logo...I may or may not have cried happy tears. For weekend I was in Crescent City, I had a Caramelizer in my hand. 6am on the cold beach, hot coffee in hand with the waves...I was in my paradise. There is just something about Dutch Bros Coffee that packs a punch in the caffeine department. I can have 4+ espresso shots from Starbucks and still feel tired? I am all for young adults making wages but tell me why one of the employee was hanging out the window chatting it up with the only other car in the drive through line . 26 minutes latter & the car decided to start their car and drive away but with out single drink. after 15 mins had past I was ready to back out but it was dark & I had already wasted more than half my lunch I was determined. when I had finally got to the window to place my order i was not greeted or anything. They have great coffee and the line moves quickly! This is because you don't have to wait until you get to the window to place your order. They are out there with their tablet-thing as many cars back as will fit and you can place your order and make payment while you're waiting in line. I'm not a Dutch Bros kind of person. Well, maybe we should back up and talk about how I'm not a coffee person AT ALL (I was a barista for many of my formative years, and it has kind of turned me off of coffee for the rest of my life). Don't get me wrong, maybe some froofy drink once or twice a year, but that's it. Hot tea a bit more so, but overall, I'm not going to be spending even 1% of my yearly earnings in a place like this. That being said, this location is right across the street from my friend's house, and while I was visiting, the sign just kept luring me from the backyard, so I decided to give them a try. I drove up (as I was headed back home and out of town, not due to laziness) and told them my plight. I wanted coffee that was sweet and cold and creamy and everything that was great for a five-hour road trip. I apologize now for forgetting the woman who helped me, but she just said, "let me give you my current favorite" and she did and it was glorious. Stopped by this drive thru genius little coffee stand. So convenient! Being a first timer I requested it black and it was so rich and a great taste. Definitely recommend. It was just the juice I needed for a long drive back to Los Angeles. Some blends are to strong to take black but it was so good. The staff were all so young but great service! I prefer to call this place "Dutch Bros" instead of "Dutch Brothers", because everything about this place is totally stoked. Despite the windmill and the classic color scheme, this place seems to be all about gettin' EXTREME with your caffeine. Where else can you get a Red Bull with Torani flavored syrup at a drive-through? The coffee drinks have something called "kick me mix" in them (I can't seem to find out what that is, so I haven't ordered it). They have drinks with names like Kicker, Annihilator, and Double Torture. A woman on the other side of the drive-through ordered something iced that contains SIX shots of espresso. Now THAT is extreme! I believe that is called the ER - 911 (no joke). The coffee is not bad for drive-through stuff. I'd take it over Dunkin any day. I just had a simple brewed coffee and was happy with it, though I would have preferred they not double-cup it. I'll remember my mug next time. The servers were friendly and seemed stoked to be at work. They wear Dutch Bros merchandise, which is apparel not with the windmills and red/yellow/blue but in all black with Ed Hardy-esque, tattoo-inspired art and logos. It's quirky, silly at times, and a little confusing to order with all those extreme drink names, but it's convenient and probably fuels the truckers along the 101 when they need it. read more
