Wish we had a better experience. The interior of the restaurant was appropriately decorated and had news articles about the area. Service was okay, they were busy during our visit. We had some basic dishes, some were great and others missed the mark. The biscuit and gravy was bland and had one chunk of sausage rather than being distributed. The chicken fried steak was amazing, as well as the pancakes. The sausage links and patty were also very good. A historic place to visit. We will try another time and hopefully it will be a great review. Slightly disappointed this time as we really hoped it would be good as it looked on All Across Oragon show.

Very solid diner! I would absolutely be back, especially if I'm staying again at the motel next door. Some things to note: -they have indoor abs outdoor seating. Outdoor was great since I had a dog with me. -friendly service! -very solid breakfast - I got my go-to hashbrowns, bacon, and sunny side up eggs. I forgot but i might've just ordered everything à la cart to make my own plate. -clean restrooms -lots of parking Also just cool to visit a place that has been around for so long. Give them a visit!

Exploring the redwoods and in need of a diner for traditional breakfast spot. I didn't feel like Crescent city had many breakfast choice options so this place was a good pick. They get busy and packed but they get them in and out effectively. I ordered the special churro French toast which I was actually expecting something different. It was just your regular FT with a few pieces of churro with it but the cream cheese whip cream def added something to it. Decent coffee. The eggs scrambled soft with cheese were def the star of the plate the eggs were damn good. A bit too much cheese but still it was fantastic egg. The more mature lady was a gem also. Great customer service and attentive. I do which they had options In the breakfast sausage area not everyone eats Pork.

Stopped on our way home and had another great experience! Besides the huge 4-egg omelet my wife ordered I had the Big Hiouchi Platter Cake, a whopping 16" pancake served on a hot pizza pie pan. Fun to eat. We boxed up most of it with half the omelet and gave it to a homeless woman at a rest stop. But that's another story. This is a wonderful place. Easy to just drive by. If you stop you'll have great food, service and memories. The locals treat you like a good friend. Love it!

Inside out: this place is relaxed and comfy with local art all over the walls. The tables are comfy, not too crowded. Service: fast and incredibly friendly! Food: this was delicious, every single item was wonderful, good portions, and fairly priced. I wish I lived closer to eat here more often! Overall: this place is a must stop every time we come through, and pick up some silly stickers at the front counter!

I can always appreciate when a place embraces their roots and puts out food better than it needs to be. There aren't too many options in the area, so it's a captive audience for people visiting Jedediah Smith Campground. They could serve much worse food, but they don't. It's your typical Greesy Spoon Cafe menu and the portions are generally huge and the food is decent. The service is mediocre at best. The host just kind of grunts at you while he motions to a table. The music is loud and Fox News is prominently on display. It's no wonder that locals say they have only been there once. Once is enough.

Cute cafe in the middle of the Redwoods. Friendly fast staff. They have an option to give compliments to the chef and you buy the kitchen some beers! The French toast was perfect, not too much PB or Jelly just enough. The fried steak was even better!

We were in town for a basketball tournament and some friends recommended we try the Hiouchi Cafe for breakfast. It was a little out of our way but it was a nice drive through the trees. There was plenty of seating and the cafe looks like a place where locals and visitors come to relax and enjoy a meal! Our server was very nice, but toward the end of our meal she had disappeared. We never got offered refills on drinks and when we were ready to pay, we waited for a bit for the check to come, but it never did so we just went to the front counter to pay. The meal I ordered, the Breakfast Bowl, was a mountain of eggs, sausage, cheese, potatoes, and gravy in a sourdough bread bowl. It was humongous! In fact, all of the meals were very large. I didn't even make it through half of it and I was stuffed, so I recommend sharing a meal if possible! The Breakfast Bowl was very tasty, and the sourdough bread was actually my favorite part. It was soft but at the same time crispy! Yum! All in all, a cute spot to eat a very filling meal!

Absolutely love the small town cafe feel of this place! Located really close to redwood national park and it opens at 7 am, it's a must stop for an early breakfast before heading in for hikes. We showed up right at 7 am and the server and cooks were so friendly and attentive. The food hit the spot along with the coffee! A bit more expensive, but it is located in a small town so it's understandable. Having breakfast made sure my day started off on the right foot!

Stopped by for breakfast on our way to the redwoods and so glad we did. Two of us shared the Hiouchi omelette ($19) because it was made with four eggs and came with toast and hash browns. Along with a cup of coffee each, it was perfect! Loved the service by all the waitstaff. They were very friendly , accommodating, and attentive. Loved the family atmosphere!

Let's just say, if you are a biscuit eater this IS THE place for them! My hubby is from the south and southerns do biscuits. And each time they are off- BUT not at good Harvest , they do biscuits right! Make sure you try them. We get t an order of biscuits and gravy We also had the huevos ranchero - you can get a small or large which is nice. This was amazing and we got it both days! The veggie omelet is also very yummy! Service: our server was kind and pleasant. Food arrived in a timely manner. Ambiance-average for the coast. I gave a 3 star because, while the breakfast was on par, later on in the day... not so good. We ate breakfast and headed south. Dessert review: On our return trip north at dinner time, we stopped in to get the chocolate cake as we were celebrating our 31st anniversary on 3/19. Husband went in without me and asked for chocolate cake. At first the worker began to cut "unusually small pieces" at ANY price point. My husband spoke up about how small the size. When the worker rung it up, the price was $30 for 2x , yes 2x, let me repeat that...2x pieces of cake!!!!! She had a bad attitude, she was rude, she was put out to provide good service to a paying customer. She justified $30 by saying the cake was from Cheese Cake Factory. I recognize good labor is hard to find on the coast. (I'm certain I've seen this same chocolate cake and cheese cake for sale at our local Grocery Outlet...about $30) I'm sorry for the restaurant that this is the best employee they could find. When my husband came out ... he was p.o.'ed. Then he told me the cake was a few dollars short of our breakfast price and $30 was charged to my card. I FLIPPED A GASKET AND WAS EVEN MORE P.O.'ed. We are locals and we feel SO RIPPED OFF AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF! My husband thinks he was hustled and gouged and overcharged BECAUSE HE WAS! Unfortunately, I don't think we'll return. Word to the wise, if the price isn't printed in the menu...buy at your own risk.

The place was super busy when I arrived there were people waiting outside, which is always a good sign but since I was dining solo, I got seated right away with no wait at all. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with really cool décor featuring cars and car photos that give the restaurant personality and a fun, nostalgic vibe. It feels comfortable rather than fancy, the kind of place where you can relax, sip your coffee, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. I ordered the shrimp and Swiss cheese omelette with jalapeño, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The portion was generous, and it came out piping hot and surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. The coffee was amazing too rich, fresh, and exactly what you want with a hearty breakfast. What really stood out was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the crowd. They made sure coffee stayed filled, checked in at the right moments, and kept things moving smoothly without making it feel rushed or chaotic. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a place that balances great food, fast service, cozy ambiance, and affordability this well. Overall, I'd easily rate it around 4.5 stars. If you're driving along Highway 101 or anywhere near Brookings, this spot is absolutely worth the stop. It's busy for a reason great food, great vibe, and great service all in one place.
