Wish we had a better experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior of the restaurant was appropriately decorated and had news articles about the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was okay, they were busy during our visit. We had some basic dishes, some were great and others missed the mark. The biscuit and gravy was bland and had one chunk of sausage rather than being distributed. The chicken fried steak was amazing, as well as the pancakes. The sausage links and patty were also very good. A historic place to visit. We will try another time and hopefully it will be a great review. Slightly disappointed this time as we really hoped it would be good as it looked on All Across Oragon show.

Very solid diner! I would absolutely be back, especially if I'm staying again at the motel next door. Some things to note: -[[HIGHLIGHT]]they have indoor abs outdoor seating. Outdoor was great since I had a dog with me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] -friendly service! -very solid breakfast - I got my go-to hashbrowns, bacon, and sunny side up eggs. I forgot but i might've just ordered everything à la cart to make my own plate. -[[HIGHLIGHT]]clean restrooms[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] -lots of parking Also just cool to visit a place that has been around for so long. Give them a visit!

I had the chicken and waffles with an incredible sage butter that was savory and enhanced by the sweet syrup that I pored on top! My husband had the breakfast sourdough bowl and it was a portion fit for a giant all smothered in white gravy! Great food and friendly and efficient wait staff. Those ladies were moving and groovin!

Exploring the redwoods and in need of a diner for traditional breakfast spot. I didn't feel like Crescent city had many breakfast choice options so this place was a good pick. They get busy and packed but they get them in and out effectively. I ordered the special churro French toast which I was actually expecting something different. It was just your regular FT with a few pieces of churro with it but the cream cheese whip cream def added something to it. Decent coffee. The eggs scrambled soft with cheese were def the star of the plate the eggs were damn good. A bit too much cheese but still it was fantastic egg. The more mature lady was a gem also. Great customer service and attentive. I do which they had options In the breakfast sausage area not everyone eats Pork.

Stopped on our way home and had another great experience! Besides the huge 4-egg omelet my wife ordered I had the Big Hiouchi Platter Cake, a whopping 16" pancake served on a hot pizza pie pan. Fun to eat. We boxed up most of it with half the omelet and gave it to a homeless woman at a rest stop. But that's another story. This is a wonderful place. Easy to just drive by. If you stop you'll have great food, service and memories. The locals treat you like a good friend. Love it!

Inside out: this place is relaxed and comfy with local art all over the walls. The tables are comfy, not too crowded. Service: fast and incredibly friendly! Food: this was delicious, every single item was wonderful, good portions, and fairly priced. I wish I lived closer to eat here more often! Overall: this place is a must stop every time we come through, and pick up some silly stickers at the front counter!

I can always appreciate when a place embraces their roots and puts out food better than it needs to be. There aren't too many options in the area, so it's a captive audience for people visiting Jedediah Smith Campground. They could serve much worse food, but they don't. It's your typical Greesy Spoon Cafe menu and the portions are generally huge and the food is decent. The service is mediocre at best. The host just kind of grunts at you while he motions to a table. The music is loud and Fox News is prominently on display. It's no wonder that locals say they have only been there once. Once is enough.

Cute cafe in the middle of the Redwoods. Friendly fast staff. They have an option to give compliments to the chef and you buy the kitchen some beers! The French toast was perfect, not too much PB or Jelly just enough. The fried steak was even better!

Great food, super service, just a fun good place to eat. The 16" pancakes are really good and lunch burgers are killer.

Great lunch spot right across from the harbor!…read more We had a nice, cozy lunch break here. The restaurant serves solid, traditional American fare with good portion sizes--everything our family ordered was tasty and filling. 1. What we ate: My husband had the California Benedict, I got the Santa Fe Scramble, and the kids ordered from the kids' menu (pancake with hard-boiled eggs, and a classic egg scramble with bacon, hash browns, and toast). Kid pancake came with scramble eggs but they acomódate my youngest request and he got hard boiled egg instead. 2. Drinks: Peach smoothie, white mocha, and regular drip coffee. They also have a full coffee bar on-site. Vibe & Tip: The decor is rustic and charmingly local, featuring indigenous artwork, antler light fixtures, and comfortable wooden chairs. The interior is a bit dated and the restrooms could use a little attention, but the atmosphere is cozy overall. Pro tip: Ask to sit upstairs for a great view of the marina! We'd definitely eat here again if we're back in the area.

He welcomed my husband and me before we were even locals. While we were vacationing and mentioned we hoped to move here, he immediately started asking around to help us find a rental. After we finally arrived -- exhausted, overwhelmed, and staring at a giant U‑Haul with no help -- Kyle stepped in again. He found someone to unload it, a sweet kid who also cooks there, and his kindness meant more than I can put into words. Every time we've seen Kyle, whether at the bar or out in town, he shows the same genuine care for people. He doesn't just run a bar -- he builds community. And Lorraine, the longtime waitress, is incredible. She's one of the hardest‑working, most thoughtful servers we've ever met. She remembers people, pays attention, and somehow manages to be everywhere at once while still making you feel like you're her only table. The Lucky Pirate isn't just a place to eat and drink -- it's a place where people look out for each other. Kyle and Lorraine make it feel like home.

Hubby had the lasagna, I had the shrimp fettuccine and for appetizers- hubby ordered the cheese curds. We also had a mascarpone cake , the bread basket and our dinners came with salad. The lasagna was legit. Hubby loves to cook from scratch so he saw that their sauce was made from scratch. My fettuccine looked made from scratch too! The shrimps weee grilled to perfection and the sauce was so delicious! The bread was made to perfection and came with a huge cup of whipped butter. Service wise- we didn't get to eat in. But the way they packed the food was with care. We can't talk about ambiance either since we didn't get to eat in there. But we may have to go in there one more time before we head back to SoCal. The only negative- we didn't get to take pics! Food was massive and delicious. If you're ever in Brookings- pls give them a try. Everything we had was delicious.

The tables are made out of cross-sections of trees. There are taxidermied animals around the place and forest scenes on the walls. There is a small bar (so have a drink with your meal!) and a lot of room for parties of all sizes. They even have some merchandise available. One of my greatest regrets from my recent trip is that I didn't grab one of the hoodies. As for food, I will start by saying that the food I saw go out to other tables really looked great. The burgers were large, the fries were cooked crispy, and the fish and chips was HUGE. Like. Enormous. If you are looking for standard diner fare, there are a lot of attractive options here. We are not always looking for standard diner fare, though, and try to get something gluten free and high protein when possible. There were not a lot of gluten free options, which was a bummer. But I did have the berry spinach salad. The spinach was fresh, the strawberries were on their way out. The candied pecans and the dressing were yummy. The biggest downside for me was that the chicken was cold. My husband pointed out that the grill lines resembled what you would see on packaged pieces of grilled chicken. The flavor was fine, but I was expecting a freshly grilled chicken breast so the straight cold meat was not optimal for me. It's on me that I didn't ask. If you are looking for gluten free options with the salad, make sure to ask about the chicken, as some frozen/packaged chicken is not gluten free. My husband had the tomato soup, which he enjoyed. The kids menu was decent as well. Overall a positive experience, especially given that there isn't a lot else around.
