Good Golly gosh, I love this place. I cannot believe I've never written a review of it until today. I am a 10+ year lover of their wines. The Maple Zin has always had a sweet spot in my heart, and the Proprietor's Reserve Cab is breath taking. This is the winery that I take all out of town guests too (and people who are local when we want to go wine tasting) which is a lot to be said, because I work for a winery down the way, and yet this is the experience and the ambiance that I want to share with the people I love. This place is amazing, one of my very favorites on Dry Creek Road. I called the tasting room at 11 asking if they could accommodate a group of 12. Scott answered and was more than happy to pull 2 picnic tables together and provide a tasting out on the patio in the beautiful 75 degree weather. This winery doesn't really stick out in my memory of the day in Healdsburg... the wines were fine, the service was fine, but nothing was all that memorable. I can't speak for the wine club though, as the host didn't mention it, and we didn't ask. Stop by if you're in the area, but I wouldn't make a day of it just to go to Dutcher. read more

There are certain times my wife and I walk into a tasting and we just get a good gut feeling about the people and winery. Our last visit was definitely such an occasion. We had a wonderful time hanging out in the tasting room chatting with the team, and we were treated to some fantastic wines as well! There is a great view over the vineyards in the back, and there is patio seating under the heat lamps if you need it next to the tasting room. As for the wines, we were big fans of pretty much the entire lineup, including the port at the end with some small bits of dark chocolate thrown in! We ended up joining the wine club and are looking forward to many more visits with a great team and some fantastic wines! read more

Came by here yesterday since the place got such great reviews on Yelp, unfortunately, we left feeling very disappointed. While it is a lovely winery and a nice tasting room, they charge $20 per wine tasting and they do NOT waive the fee even if you buy a few bottles of wine. I was in the process of purchasing three bottles and having it shipped home when I found out I would still have to pay the $20. I have never heard of such a thing. Anyway, I guess this place just wasn't for us. They lost out on a $150 sale because of a $20 fee...but I guess they don't care. With so many wonderful wineries in this area, I would never go back here again. read more

This was our first stop on our wine tour. Twelve of us came here at 11am, and it was perfect as we were the only large group there at that time. The host was very welcoming and he was knowledgeable. We were able to taste the wine and wander with it to the back patio and grass area and come in each time we were ready for another pour. The land surrounding the winery is beautiful and although very nice, it had a laid-back feel still. By the time we left about 45 minutes later it was starting to get busier. Some kids were playing ball with their dad on the back lawn, and people were lounging in the sun. This is a nice place to bring a lunch and sit out back on the benches. read more

Dutcher Crossing was the surprise winner of this trip. DC was the second stop of our trip and we came here at the suggestion of the tasting room at Bella. The tasting room is large, with high ceilings and very inviting, especially on a cold and rainy day. The vistas from the property and tasting room were amazing! I could have spent all day staring out of the window. Their wine club memberships are approachable for most price points, which was a nice change of pace. This place is a must if your in Sonoma/Healdsburg area. I joined the wine club and have been very happy with all the bottles I receive. The grounds are really beautiful and plan on packing a lunch or bring sandwiches (that I heard were great) at the small shop about a 2 miles south of the winery. This really makes for a good time. The wine is really excellent. The Stuhlmuller Chardonnay was very good as well as the Costello (if you like a little more Oak flavor). The Maple Vineyard Zinfandel was great as well as the Taylor Cab and the Proprietors Cab, both very good. Really can't go wrong at Dutcher Crossing. read more

I have tasted hear a few times, and always enjoy the ambiance. Last time I was there I tried a couple excellent Zinfandels and a very good Syrah. Other times I have thought that the wines were good, but this time I thought tseveral were excellent. The grounds behind the winery are beautiful. I like that the tasting fee is only $5 as well, and they frequently yet you taste additional wines that are available for wine club members only (presumedly in an effort for you to join the wine club, but they don't explicitly encourage it or bother you about joining). read more

Dutcher is a Delight This small winery produces some superb wines. The tasting room is warm and friendly with a fireplace and some sofa chairs to sit at and enjoy their wines. The staff is extremely friend and personable. I espcially enjoyed the Maple Vineyard Zin the their Reserve Cab, though I have to admit their Chardonnay was very good----though I don't really care for chardonnay. It was a beautiful day in Sonoma and the tasting room's proximity to the surrounding vineyards made the experience all the more enjoyable. Next time you're in Sonoma, be sure to give Dutcher Crossing a try---I know I'll be going back soon. read more

Far and away the best wine tasting I have ever experienced (and Amy likes her some tastings)! We went on the recommendation of the concierge at the Hotel Healdsburg (best bed ever!) and we were not disappointed. At first glace we contemplated not visiting Dutcher Crossing, eyeing it from Dry Creek Road, the winery didn't look like more than an old, weathered barn. However, a few tastes at Ferrari-Carano, located just up the way , encouraged us just enough to pull into the gravel parking lot . Upon closer inspection, we saw that the "old barn" was in fact a brand new, well thought out, visually friendly combination of staff offices , breezeways and tasting room We went on a Friday , which has to be the only reason we were the only people in the modern, yet, warm and inviting tasting room. We were greeted by the lovely and knowledgeable Katrina, a family friend of the winery founders (who also founded Perrier North America), who talked us through each of the six wine tastings. In expert and friendly fashion, she told us how all of the grapes come from local vineyards, in some cases where the families themselves still tend the vines. This definitely showed in the wines, as taste after taste revealed remarkable glasses of liquid deliciousness. The only one that had a slightly weak showing was the Taylors Reserve and that only confirmed how great the other five were. And get this, NO TASTING FEE! I imagine that this winery is a little glimpse into what Napa and Sonoma used to be. A place where it was about the local growers and wines makers, sharing their wares, in an informal and friendly environment to folks who appreciated what they did. Truly amazing! (Oh, and plan to go around lunch time, pick up a sandwich from the Dry Creek General Store and when your tasting is done sidle up to one of the picnic tables out back. Magical!) read more

This place is pretty chill. I brought the fam here for a picnic. The guy behind the counter was super nice. If I can recall, his name was Colin. He offered a blanket to lay on the grass. While the fam was grubbing on their food, I had a tasting. I was able to get a pour and sit with my fam until I was ready for my next pour. Colin was very passionate in the wine and provided well descriptions of all the pours. I ended up with a bottle of pinot noir and cabernet. All I can say was WOW. I don't think I had service this good at a winery. If you bring your kids, there is no need to feel uncomfortable at Dutcher Crossing. read more

We booked this winery for a welcome dinner event for about 75 people for our wedding. Erik was wonderful to work with and helped us out with all the details. It was a destination wedding so we never saw Dutcher Crossing in person prior to the wedding weekend. We went by the day before the event and were so pleasantly surprised - the pictures don't do it justice! The views are amazing, it's landscaped beautifully and the building is new and tasteful. We got to meet the owner and her winery dog, Dutchess, which made us feel like we made the right choice. We thought the wines were great and everyone enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of the gorgeous mountains. If you driving down Dry Creek, Dutcher is definitely worth a stop. If you are having an event, this is a perfect spot to have it. read more

Love. Love. Love this place. My sister joined their wine club when we went in April. It was a magical afternoon. They have beautiful grounds. Perfect way to spend an afternoon. And their wines rock. Scheduled an hour long private tasting here to start our day and it was the best tasting we hade all day. Mike was our host and guided us through the tasting, he was entertaining and knowledgeable. We tasted a variety of their wine, I personally enjoyed their Taylor Reserve Cabernet. There are plenty of great beautiful grounds wineries and luscious outside insides in the area, therefore this rating is not exclusive to DCW. This is one of my favorite places in Sonoma Valley. The backdrop this winery sits on offers such spectacular views of the hills and vineyards, it can be breathtaking in summer. 5-star for the tour and grounds--it is one of the most gorgeous out there. The staff are wonderful. The wine wasn't exactly up to what I love. We've been members here for awhile and have always loved the wine and hospitality. Being local, there is obviously LOTS of choices for high quality boutique wine, but Dutcher is consistently a favorite. Today's trip was particularly awesome. We were visiting for the summer wine club release party and had the pleasure of chatting with Nick (the winemaker) at the tasting bar as we worked our way through the wines. Nick's passion for his wines, his genuine interest in his customers and his ability to make us feel like valued guests really added to the experience. We visit RRV/Dry Creek every year and Dutcher Crossing used to be on our list to visit every time, their wine was good and it was a pleasant tasting room Then they implemented the non-refundable tasting policy (they charge for tasting even if you buy). They have their policy and I have mine, any winery with this policy immediately goes on the no-fly list regardless of how good their wine is. We won't be back, too many great choices in the region who don't charge tasting fees if you buy. Poor business decision IMO. read more
