They don't even deserve on star but the system needed me to put something in. I contacted them in the morning at 8:35am on Saturday, May 2nd, that my dog was having trouble breathing. I was told to take him to an emergency vet service even though they were open and my dogs difficulty breathing came from medicine they had prescribed. I was told they didnt have an open appointment and only one vet on. I told them I wanted to speak to the doctor. They said they were with a patient and would have to get back to me. This was around 8:55am. I live less than 10 minutes away. My dog died in my arms less than 1 hour later. I was stunned that they showed no compassion to myself or my pet who they had cared for since 2010. The doctor called me at 1:15pm and stated, "I'm calling to see how Cooper is doing". I informed her that he passed away in the morning. She never apologized or addressed the fact that they wouldnt let me bring him in. Maybe there is nothing they could have done but I guess we will never know because they didnt care enough to see him. They definitely are not the same place they were years ago. The only thing that is important to them now is money, not the pets that we love. My family is brokenhearted over the loss of our Cooper. read more

I love the Staff from the receptionists to the technicians ( today was Angie) to the Assistants ( today Jess) to the most caring , sympathetic, warm, knowledgeable Veterinarian Dr. Michele BestHall. They all welcome you with a smile, my Shitzuh loves them, they spoil her with treats. Dr Best Hall is very thorough and very gentle with the animals. Reception is great and nurses are great, but drs kept telling me my dog with doesn't have an ear infection and its "allergies". After very expensive food and diagnosis treatment it turns out it was an ear infection. Took two months to diagnose (ended up having to go to different business). I'll be going to them from now on. I have been visiting this establishment for many years and over the years their prices have increased astronomically. As of this week, I went in for a lyme check and I was charged $290. They also tried to upsell eye drops and then guilt trip me to purchase things I didn't go there for. I had to wait a week for results although my dog was clearly in pain, then charged $87 for medication, a total of $377. My daughter visited another local hospital for the same issue for a fraction of the cost and she left with medication. I shared with the front desk staff that these prices are so high considering I have a four dogs and want to get them tested every few years, this is pricey. She then says " it's not our fault you have so many dogs." I was shocked and asked her if she would say that to a parent with a lot of kids. This place severely misdiagnosed my dog who ended up going through several useless painful therapies. once again, he was misdiagnosed, didn't want to run tests, where he could've been treated for his actual problem and ended up passing away because of it. I've been bringing my pets here since 2010 and there's a reason! This past week I brought our rescue Dobie in for her routine allergy shot--something the techs would usually do. Dr. Haight just happened to be walking by and noticed that Maggie didn't look quite right. She stopped what she was doing and did Maggie's physical (which wasn't scheduled until the following week), and caught a double ear infection. I began using DCAH over 20 years ago with our previous dog. We were thrilled to find a kind, compassionate vet who even called on Thanksgiving to give us an update on his condition. I have been bringing our new Yorkshire Terrier since we got him 17 years ago. His health rapidly deteriorated in the last few months. He was blind, deaf, not eating or drinking and incontinent. He was too weak to stand and was whining in pain. It was incomprehensible to me that when I called to put this poor pup out of his misery and told they couldn't give us an appointment for almost two weeks. I implored the receptionist to as least ask the vet. The reply was this was not possible and I could take him to an emergency vet in Brewster, but there was nothing she could offer. What is the point of having a regular vet for over 20 years if they can't help in the time of need. It seems this establishment has grown so large they no longer valued long standing patients. When I called to cancel my appointment bc I found a compassionate vet, I was told to call if I needed anything! Too little, too late! read more

I took my pet to this hospital and he was turned away causing him to die 3 days after. The vet never even came out of her office to meet him. It is extremely tragic and unforgivable to be an animal care clinic and not give good service and still ask to get paid or worse as in my case to have not examined my pet and killing him over pure neglect. I am new to the area and chose this place as it is less then 5 minutes from my house. They are wonderful. My cat Clementine was diagnosed with feline stomatitis a few years ago but it was not really a problem other than her killer breath. Lately she's been super vocal and annoyed and figured it was time for teeth extraction. They were very informative. Sat down with me and showed me where all the teeth were that they had to pull(only 5) and went over post op care and she went back for her check up and everything is all good. Our Logan the Corgi is about 9 years old and has been going to DCAH since he was brought back from Amish Country in PA. DCAH has always given him their fullest and sometimes too much attention as he is does love it ( if you know Corgis you know what I mean). Recently Logan pulled a nail out and we had need of immediate attention on the weekend from DCAH. They got us right in and gave Logan great service inspecting his injury, bandaging it and giving us a full report on how to look after him. This type of consideration is truly appreciated especially when one has a crisis. In our case thank goodness it was small. DCAH staff is always welcoming, considerate and loving to all pets. Have been coming here for 17 years and wouldn't go anywhere else. I have two cats and two dogs, which I just recently had to put my one 17 yr old cat down due to medical issues. Dr. Haight and the staff were there with and for me in such a loving and supporting way, I can not thank them enough. This team has compassion and I believe that is most important for a veterinarian office. They take my animal's needs and will lay it out for you. If you see negative reviews, it's usually for people who don't feel they need to invest the money into the health of their furbaby. I will never use this animal hospital ever again there team was not informed correctly on the proper services or procedures that needed to take place from the time we walked into the door. My husband and I came to this animal hospital to get our dog punky his much needed surgery. The only reason we came to this establishment was because of the amazing surgeon but the staff was horrible. The whole reason we came here as well was because they accepted the care credit card and offered the 18 months for the 5 visits my husband and I made sure they offered the 18 months zero perecnt even after the first time my pup was supposed go in for surgery and couldn't because of his bowel problems we used the care credit and they put it through for the 18 months. After the dog had his surgery we used the care credit and the animal hospital put it in for 6 months to pay it before 30 % interest hit. The surgery is 3000.00 after talking with care credit and them telling my husband and I that we have to talk to the animal hospital to get it fixed we did so. We spoke with Terry and she then told us how they never offer 18 months and she spoke to her staff about not offering 18 months and said she is sorry there is nothing she can do. We tried to explain to her that we would of used a different establishment if this was told to us from the beginning and it is not our fault that their staff was uneducated in this matter but Terry didn't care and said there is nothing she can do but after calling care credit again they told us that all she has to do is change the months but because they have to pay a percentage that's y they won't do that for us. So now we have a 300.00 Bill for 18 months and a 3000.00 Bill at 6 months. This place is horrible I wouldn't recommend this animal hospital to anyone. Even after the dog got his hips repaired there was no follow up appointments made, one minute the stitches were dissolving the next we have to come in 10 days later. There was no option of physical therapy and even after picking up the dog after surgery they forgot to give me a harness so he could pee without hurting him and almost forgot the cone. Needless to say if u want an educated service staff who knows what their job is don't even think about coming here. read more

Took my rat here today to get an ear infection and possible tumor checked out. They did a great job handling him and checking him over throughly, and Dr. Canan was incredibly sweet throughout the process. The service was good and comparatively affordable considering that his first checkup was only one dollar. I brought my pregnant dog here for an X-ray to see how many puppies to expect. I was told 5 puppies . The next day I called to bring her in due to bleeding and a fever to get checked for an infection. They rushed me out the door saying nothing is wrong she's gonna go into labor. After telling them repeatedly she's 2 weeks to early they didn't care and told me to just watch her! That night she lost a puppy and 8 hours after that Dutchess County animal hospital told me to go the emergency clinic cause they are closing in a half hour. she got rushed to their emergency office and was told to just keep watching her and sent us on our way with a bottle of pills still no check up or any type of care for our hurting animal. Next day first thing in the morning I rushed her to another animal hospital for a 2nd opinion! After doing a exam and checking her blood and X-ray she has 8 puppies still in there all living and well. The bleeding continued and fever never went away and now the dog got rushed to a c section and the liter all passed and my baby is it critical condition! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE read more

Went there quite a few times- spent much money. Never saw a vet- just vet techs( different ones every time) they almost killed my dog by guessing what could be wrong, didn't test for anything because he was 12 at the time. Suggested we put him down or increase his pain meds( which is what almost killed him!) decided to go elsewhere and found out through a wonderful and concerned vet that he had eaten something that was causing pain in his stomach which was found through an X-ray! The awesome vets at Ace veterinary saved my dogs life and we had 5 more great healthy years with him. And we were assured that every appointment we have we will see either vet that is there and we can say over the last 6 years and three other dogs they were right! So sorry I wasted my time and money at dutchess community animal hospital! Heard many other horror stories about them after that-if you love your pets- please don't take them there! read more
