A happy pup who loves her vet!

I've been bringing my pets here since 2010 and there's a reason! This past week I brought our rescue Dobie in for her routine allergy shot--something the techs would usually do. Dr. Haight just happened to be walking by and noticed that Maggie didn't look quite right. She stopped what she was doing and did Maggie's physical (which wasn't scheduled until the following week), and caught a double ear infection. So thankful for her--what a difference it makes when your vet knows and loves your animal! Will never go anywhere else if I can help it

I sits and I eats!!! Tanks Doc Cannan!!!

I've always been very appreciative of all the regional Veterinarians and Vet dentists that have helped our 10 aging formerly feral cats, but I had to thank Dr. Cannan for being an exceptional diagnostician. I can't imagine anything harder than reading an animal's mind when they are in pain, (when tests may not show a problem) so to be great at figuring out what their disease is, is truly a unique gift. The Dr. and her staff have always been incredibly loving when handling our cats. Her staff is always so enthusiastic and helpful. This coupled with an exceptional ability to cure our animals makes us forever grateful to the Dutchess County Animal Hospital. Keep up the great work you guys!

If I could give 0 stars I would. We've been coming to this practice since 2022 w/ our 4 cats. We…read morehave been fostering & adopting cats for 25+ yrs, along w/ 20+ yrs of TNR. We've always recommended this place to all our friends with pets & new cat parents that adopted from our cat/kitten foster group. We've also invested a great deal of time, energy, trust, and money in this practice. But last week that all changed with a very traumatic experience when we lost our beloved cat Ziggy. It will haunt us for the rest of our lives what we saw, & went through. We were treated very poorly with our eldest cat Ziggy who was the sweetest most gentle little soul. This place is not what it once was after shifting owners. Unfortunately this place is riding on the coattails of its previous good reputation. Ziggy was the cat that changed the minds of people who were afraid or misunderstood them. He greeted anyone who came to our home & would sit on their lap instantly. He also had a keen sense for bad characters, for example we had a repair man & I almost caught him stealing. I knew something was off when Ziggy didn't greet him. Cats have super powers like that, they know when someone isn't kind hearted & is hiding behind a fake mask of smiles. Our little protector is gone & his untimely death could have been prevented. We have yet not received the detailed medical records/receipts of the day he died despite asking multiple requests. We were never made aware of what he was going through despite being told we would be called back in a few minutes & nothing would be done without our approval first. Instead 20 minutes passed. Our bill is astronomical & we feel so trapped by this experience. He started having seizures Dec. '25. We scheduled the 1st visit & they assigned us a new vet that he's never seen & made us feel even more confused because they suggested he might have cancer. We sought a second vet's opinion at another place & they said he still had several years of life, & to continue his special diet & hydration methods. They saw his blood work & did not determine cancer. Then they suggested we go back to our primary vet (this place) & ask to consider kidney disease as the cause of the seizures to receive medicine to stop the seizures. So in March I scheduled another visit with the same concern only to be dismissed again because I didn't agree to x-rays & MRI. She suggested I should think about euthanizing him. She didn't validate the detailed description I provided in order for her to determine what he needed & wasted my time. Ziggy ran out of time thanks to this. They seem to think that a pet parent's descriptions are useless & that a machine can determine it better. At some point she suggested he was "just tired" -- I know the difference between tired & looking off, you know it in your gut! I have spent over $5,000 dollars here & in such a short amount of time to try & get my cat the help he needed. I feel like they just saw dollar signs, not a little soul who needed serious help without exploiting the vulnerability of his situation. Instead I felt like I was going in circles at this place, every time I booked an appointment they ran the same expensive blood test & offered only premium expensive options. If I start asking for more options they'll bring up euthanasia, which was brought up multiple times causing me distress. He was still very much a lively 12 y/o cat, eating well, drinking water, active, performing his tricks, playing with toys & with his step sisters, & improving in his daily activity thanks to the supplement taurine which we started on all our cats last year. When I told her that this supplement was working she doubted & seemed annoyed. Her tone discouraged me from thinking it made any difference at all. The oddest part is how she expressed denial when I told her he was more active but still having motionless episodes aka seizures. He needed medicine. Never again will I set foot here. We feel betrayed after years of being loyal patients. Our trust has been broken with irreversible damage. Ziggy is gone forever & his case was in our opinion mishandled. There was no compassion. They overstepped boundaries that made us very uncomfortable & caused us to question how things transpired. The way they handled Ziggy's case & the poor customer service we received after his death is so painful. They even threatened legal action when we protested our dissatisfaction with their services & lack of billing transparency. Our 1st Amendment rights aren't being considered here. This is a painful nightmare we never thought Ziggy nor us would have to ever endure. It will take us a lot of time to heal due to all the added aggression we received. RIP our sweet baby boy you deserved so much more.

They seem to really love dogs I appreciate the consultation, which did not feel rushed so I could decide if I was going to be spending $700 for tests before the decisions were made for me. Being a pet parent is very pricey indeed so definitely consider getting insurance to ease a bit of the financial burden so you can love your four legged furry family member with no resentment lol just kidding

The conversation I described is nearly verbatim and she should have been transparent from the get-go/my first call, and that she was not is wholly on you for not supplying her with a clear and concise script/messaging for new clients. As far as being "annoyed," yes, that was correct on your part: I was annoyed. Also, please, don't take this review "as a compliment." I am unclear as to how 1 star could possibly be construed as a "compliment" (now I am "confused") and if you are being serious or being snide, but to be abundantly clear: this review is not a compliment. I'm writing about your shop 6 months later because 1) I do not to write spur of the moment, emotional, poorly thought out reviews and I let some time pass and re-evaluate; and 2) I pass your shop every day so I am reminded of my experience every day. As far as your 6 groomers toiling 6 days a week: consider opening up your hours beyond 8 hours a day to accommodate the needs of the community you serve. If you would like to discuss more, I'm all ears: contact me via Yelp and I'll send you my phone number. 9/11/24 This place has strange business practices. It is about a one minute walk from from my home and would not take my dog. I called to make an appointment for my older dog and the person who answered the phone took my information and was pleasant enough and then asked my dog's breed. When I said she was a doodle, she all of a sudden said she had no appointments. I hung up and then called back and asked her why she had appointments and then all of a sudden--when she heard the breed--she did not. She said--lol--"we do not have appointments for many months." I said, "I don't mind waiting." She said, "Well, it wouldn't be fair to our regular customers." I asked "Why?" She said "Because they will want to come in and will not be able to because new customers will have their spot." I said, "So you don't have enough staff?" She said, "No, we have enough staff." I got tired of her whack-a-mole answers and excused myself. I mean, just put a sign on the door that says "Doodles Not Welcome," like it's a diner in pre-Civil Rights Amendment era Birmingham, Alabama. Based on other reviews, the owner is popular and has a following from her prior location. However, she should be reminded that this is a dog grooming business and, like all businesses in Eastdale, it is supposed to serve a previously underserved area. Eastdale was constructed with a mission to deliver services and products to Arlington residents--not to people who decided to follow Rachel from 30 minutes away. Meanwhile my dog is a sweet natured four year old Doodle who I brush every day (she loves to lay on her back and get brushed) and bathe once a week (she's an outdoorsy gal!) Nice conclusion: I found a terrific groomer and we have had a monthly appointment with her for the last 6 months.

Please keep in mind we've been through 2 trainers that wanted absolutely nothing to do with her. Also recommended euthanasia. Also, no one would board her. No one. I had to put on my horse boots so I could get a better grip on the ground because she was pulling so hard to either go after him, or me pulling he towards the house and let me tell you- Mastiffs are strong. And I work with horses. Lol. She HATED her new trainer. Barked aggressively at him and threatened him. Felix Rosado was un-phased and calm. It took a lot of logistics and strength to get her into his house and in a crate (I had to do it because she was definitely going to bite him with me around) Felix again, unphased. Almost an hour long drop off. A lot of drama. I admit, I cried in the car afterwards. Then I was thinking....WTF. How is he going to handle her or get near her?! She wanted to eat him. Felix's references put my mind at ease and I did my best not to think about it. This is my baby. I stress. Nope. For once, I felt comfortable. I found someone with the balls to work with her. I respect the shit out of anyone willing to risk an attack to wrk with a misunderstood, aggressive dog. He's obviously very passionate about what he does. That in itself speaks volumes. Not only did Felix keep in touch with me throughout her stay with updates (I call them "PupDates"), he sent me a video of him scratching her, giving massages that same night Nala was putty in his hands. I picked her up today, she didn't give a shit about me. Loved him. LMAO. I came home from my trip with a very happy dog that made a new friend/trainer. I look forward to working more with them both because they're a great couple. I'm so happy and relieved. Thank you Felix Rosado!
