I brought in my African gray parrot to be checked for feather loss.Dr.Fairlie Examined Isaiah very carefully he needed to have a diet change. And gave us free packets of food and pamphlets she suggested a floor lamp which we got. I asked If we should get Isaiah's blood tested. Dr .Fairlie Said no because it would be too much stress on my parrot she wanted to just check if the dietary change would help with the feather loss. She was 100% correct this would've caused too much stress To the parrot. As They Do not do well under stress. She made the right decision. unfortunately, I brought my parrot to an avian vet specialist Newburgh veterinary Hospital for a follow up because of the feather loss. They told us then he had a heart murmur and decided to do bloodwork as he was sedated under anesthesia. My parrot died six hours later the medication they used because of his heart murmur should not have been given. My biggest regret is that I didn't come back to creature comforts. If i could give no stars, I would. I was assaulted by an employee while my dog was suffering. I'm spending time at a police station instead of tending to my sick dog. Their response is simply not true. They want to make it look like i was not assaulted by their tech after telling him that i could not have a conversation with him and leaving the building to get away from the staff member. The staff member harrassed and followed me outside and assaulted me. Plain and simple. I did everything i could to excape this employee and requested that he leave me alone. This is not a case where I did anything wrong. I didnt even try to protect myself from this abuse. I yelled outside because i was being harrassed and wanted to be left alone. Telling the man to get away from me. They say that these things happened and they lie! You want to fall for it go ahead and go there. At a time that I needed sympathy, comforting, and help, they harrassed me until i was so upset that i walked out of the building to escape. Then followed me outside and assaulted me when I tried to enter after being told that i had to go back in. Then they continued to lie to police to make me look like i had done something wrong! Products that don't need to be prescribed by a vet/animal doctor shouldn't require that your pet is already a patient. Should be able to just walk in, pay the ridiculous $115 for a collar and then leave. Shouldn't be a Whole thing about whether or not I'm coming back to spend MORE money at your establishment. I am just so comforted by the Dr's as well as the staff at Creature Comforts. We are all ways treated with professionalism, care and respect. We have been to many vets over the years and Creature Comforts has to be one of the best. All of the Dr's have been fantastic and have taken time out to address any concerns we may have. I brought my ferret ranger into them because he was ill. They initially diagnosed him with insolinoma and put him on prednisone. Was told to recheck the blood glucose in 2 weeks. I came back in 2 weeks and the vet stated that his levels have abnormally skyrocketed and he can't be on the prednislone anymore. She said let's recheck him in another week. I come back before that week is up because his condition deteriorated. They told me he now has diabetic ketoacidosis. They failed to mention this was extremely rare in ferrets. They failed to explain what this meant. Alls they were worried about was taking my money. I was told to transfer him to a 24/7 care facility and hour away because they aren't one. They never explained to me how bad his condition actually was. I was never told that his condition is EXTREMELY rare. I was never sat down and explained to that he is critically ill. I was just charged $623 and sent on my way for nothing. Mind you they had given me an estimate for over $2500 and I declined because I was already going to the critical care center. They got snippy with me because of it THEY CHARGED ME $22.80 for a Panera coffee cup to be put around his neck as a cone. $22.80 FOR A PAPER CUP. Not only did they tell me on the phone they didn't have a cone small enough for him so I would just have to keep an eye on him but they put a paper cup around his neck and had the nerve to charge me!!! On top of that they placed an IV catheter into his front leg( charged me for that) Only to get down to the emergency facility to be told that the IV was NOT in properly and that whoever placed this catheter must have been in a rush so it wasn't done properly!!! So not only did my poor baby have to go through the hell of having it taken out and then having a new one placed properly in his back leg but I had to pay again because of Creature comforts negligence and carelessness (mind you it was past closing when they were placing the catheter in so they must have been rushing) Unfortunately I made the devastating and very hard decision to euthanize my baby because I didn't want him to suffer. I can only help but think maybe he would still be here if I NEVER brought him to that joke of a clinic in the first place. The next day after rangers passing I called Creature comforts to explain he passed and also ask why I was charged $22.80 for a Panera cup. The response I got was "It's not our fault he passed you clearly didn't have the funds to take care of him because if you did you would of allowed us to do testing here! (The manger then called me later with a nasty attitude saying "oh we refunded you the $22.80 it was an oversight on our end" Nothing like your money hungry and that's all they cared about was taking my money and not helping my baby!!BEWARE!! They are only out for money and do not care in the least bit about your fur baby! What a joke! One more thing is I never Ever EVER once got a "we're sorry for your loss" out of these people that work at creature comforts. Unbelievably, there are far and few such place that treat such animals referred to as 'exotic pets'. They not only take on your basic care of your pup and kitty, but seemingly treat every type of animal that Noah brought onto his ark. I wish I had the option to give no stars....but since I don't, I'll go with one. Please do not bring your pets to this vet. My 4 year old dog has been a patient since 2019. Last Wednesday I brought him in for a vaccination and to have a small (about 1 cm) lump looked at. The vet recommended a biopsy, so we went ahead with that and awaited the results. I received a phone call on Saturday morning from the vet to call back to discuss. I called back within the hour, but she was unavailable. When it was nearing their closing time and I still had not gotten a call I called again and told them I would wait on the phone until she could speak to me. I was a nervous wreck and did not want to have to wait until Monday to know what she wanted to discuss. She came on the phone and told me my dog has cancer. Next steps would be surgery and to give him 2 Benadryl every day to prevent growth of the tumor. She said I would be contacted on Monday with an estimate and to get the surgery and pre-op appointments scheduled. On Monday morning my insurance reached out wanting medical records to process the claim for the biopsy. I called to request them and was told that the practice manager had to review them before I could receive them, that she would be in touch later that day with the records and the estimate. I never heard back. Finally, I received the estimate on Tuesday morning. I called to clarify that, and schedule the surgery. I was told the soonest they could do the surgery was December 28th...two whole months away. Throughout all of these phone calls the only way I can describe their demeanor is indifferent. No acknowledgement of how serious this is, no words of encouragement, no sense of urgency at all. They are the ones telling me my dog has cancer, but they are acting like its no big deal. Its a big deal to me, so I started looking for another vet. I found a specialist, but they would need medical records and lab results, along with a referral. The specialist made the request on Tuesday afternoon. Keep in mind I still don't have the records I requested for insurance on Monday. On Wednesday afternoon, I reached out via email to ask about the records, and told them if I didn't have them by 4 pm today I was going to dispute the $350 from last week's visit with my credit card company. That finally got their attention, however, they are still unwilling to send the actual lab report from the biopsy; all that the records included was the written interpretation from the lab, pasted into the records. They insist they don't receive anything but that from the lab, which I find hard to believe. The practice manager did call me as well, and said she wasn't in yesterday, which was why there was a delay...if you weren't in and you are the only one who can send me an estimate how did I get an estimate yesterday??? Being told your young dog has cancer is stressful, dealing with this office has multiplied that stress 10 fold. You can't tell me they don't leave spaces open in their schedule for urgent cases. You can't tell me that you have no time in your day to respond to a patient with cancer's simple request to get the surgery scheduled. If you love your pets, please find another vet who will take their care seriously. read more

Livestock owners beware. I brought in one of my animals who got injured in a failed reintroduction for an emergency visit as my normal vet wasn't able to get me in. As soon as they heard "livestock" the tone changed from "let us help" to lectures like one would give a child about husbandry and care (without asking about the husbandry at my home in the first place.) They put my animal in a cone that prevented them from eating and caused them to make their injuries worse trying to remove it. I called for help while waiting on the follow up appointment and it took 3 calls and over 6 and a half hours for any sort of suggestions on what to do. By the time I went back to the follow up I ended up having to surrender my animal because I could not afford the surgeries required to fix the worsened wounds. The next day, after surrendering my animal so she could get care I couldn't afford, I got a call from my county's SPCA setting up a check because they'd received a "report with concerns about neglect and maltreatment." They inspected my set up and found nothing wrong with no suggestions for improvement. My animals were clean, well fed, well cared for, and the inspector was annoyed he was called out to come look at a livestock set up when the report led him to believe he was, and I quote "about to walk into a nightmare of maggots and feces". I understand following up on animal welfare, I'm not upset with the SPCA for checking and I'm glad they did. I am, however, deeply upset by the treatment I received by this office and recommend you go literally anywhere else for livestock care. read more

I brought my bunny here for a check up and to inquire about their neutering services. When I called about prices, they informed me that I'd have to bring the bunny in for a well visit and the vet would then email an estimate to me in a few days. Not too many places offer spay/neuter services so I drove to Poughkeepsie from ct for the visit. 3 hours of travel time. The vet and the tech were nice and informative. I paid 50 for a ten minute visit. When I got home I read my email estimate. $440 for a neuter! What?? I emailed them to tell them I can't possibly afford this and could they go any lower or suggest low cost clinics. No response. Thankfully, through much research, I did find a low cost option for 80 with a lovely team of caring people. $50 and 3 hours in the car wasted! read more

I was so impressed after my first visit here today with my 5 year old bunny, Clara. The staff was welcoming, kind and helpful. It is obvious that they understand that pets parents are on edge/nervous/worried and they make great efforts to calm us! This demeanor continued into the appointment. The vet tech was thorough, interested and easy to talk to when first meeting clara. The vet was excellent at making sure that Clara was safe and talked me through the process so that I knew clara was ok and being taken care of correctly. The vet was methodical and thorough without going overboard. She ran some simple tests and gave clara a tail-to-eat exam. We eliminated a lot of possibilities for Clara's eye issue. We will be doing some trial-and-Error to eliminate further. The steps make sense and start with what would be less stressful for clara (and me). My outdoor cat can be a bit of a terror. She kills mice, snakes, and even large bluejays. One night this week I came home to her in the process of taking out a small bunny. My heart broke for it and I whisked it away before she could finish the kill. The poor thing was in shock and clearly injured. The next day I reached out to creature comforts (after being told by someone that they will take injured animals) and my wife brought it into their office. I know some will say "let nature take its course" but sometimes that's not easy to do. The kindness this office displays in their care for even the smallest of animals is amazing and I thank for this. Even though the little guy didn't make it, I can't thank them enough for just trying. THE WORST SERVICE IN POUGHKEEPSIE. My mother has been attending creature comforts with our dog for 5 years. Apparently there has been a change in doctors and we have recently tried to schedule an appointment for our cat. These new doctors are so rude over the phone. I only called to ask a question in regards to if my animal had to be seen to receive a medication. I was given the most rudest response by the front desk clerk Nadine. I have also heard other bad service ratings amongst my family members who also take their animal to this facility. They will never have to worry about my family coming again. I'm not quite sure what the problem is or was but we miss the old doctors. I didn't know by asking a simple question I would receive such rudeness. I wouldn't even take a frog here. Don't waste your time, I'm going to the clinic in Hyde Park where they have given me excellent customer service over the phone. Creature comforts has left a nasty taste in our mouths and it is so unfortunate being that we've been their customers and patience for over 5 years. We received a free exam when we adopted our puppy from the SPCA, and we couldn't be happier with our vet choice. Dr Barker was very professional and warm in regards to the exam, and she was very helpful as well. Knowing that we were first time puppy parents, she gave us a packet and information on vaccinations and what we should be doing with our little one. but CC's own pharmacy, saying the other pharmacies including Chewy are not "real" pharmacies. They basically said "it was their way or the highway" and I must go to their offices and pick up this prescription. Of course, I could not get out of my house with being handicapped and the State of Emergency ice storm so I asked them to please let Chewy send me the medication. They would not and fought with me. I asked again to speak with the Vet/Dr. and they would not let me. I needed to ask the Vet/Dr. if the Methimazole 2.5 mgs I got from the previous vet would be okay to give him while I waited for the Felimazole to come in the mail as it was the generic medication that contained the same medicine as I called many pharmacies who told me it was the same thing, but they (CC) would not budge. This office staff (not a vet/Dr.) insisted it was not the same and told me I must give him the Felimazole and I must go there to pick the script up, period. I told them I was handicapped and the State of Emergency ice storm is keeping me home and Crystal said to me, "my spouse is handicapped." What that had to do with me being alone with no help and being asked to risk my paralysis for their nonsense, I do not know. I feel I was being mocked, mistreated, made to deny my cat of medication he needed as I could not go out to get, and CC tried to force me to put myself in danger when they could just have okayed Chewy to send me the medicine or even they could have faxed the prescription to Chewy right there and then while they had them on the phone, but they would not budge. Now I'm left with calling all over to try to get help with this medication my cat desperately needs and CC will not take any of my calls and have been sending me extremely nasty e-mails. I spoke with the Humane Society in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the gentleman told me this was so uncalled for and so inhumane to do this to me and my cat. He always has his medications for his animals (and many other entities I called said the same thing,) they always get their scripts from Chewy or an on-line pharmacy and never had a problem. This Humane Society took this same complaint from me as well as other entities I'm telling about this so hopefully this CC vet will be shut down and folks won't go in there and trust them with their animals to have something like this happen to them too. I hope you can do something to make sure this place doesn't practice anymore or at least take away their accreditation rights to your entity. I've decided, and many (4-5) pharmacists I spoke with today also recommended that I continue to give Dusty the Methimazole and the 3 pills of the Felimazole I have left, until I can get out of my house and take him to another vet to get a full prescription for his medicine. I went to Creature comfort's with my beloved Airedale last week only to be disrespected and badgered by Molly the front office coordinator I told them I had a very important phone call to take from the cancer center who is treating me with no regard for my situation she badgered me to come inside because they were ready to see my dog my dog was already inside she just wanted me to pay in advance before they did any services I've never in my life had to pay in advance for a service that was not complete I cannot express how rude and condescending Molly was they rushed the procedure instead of giving my beloved Airedale a proper IV and take the time they did a trans dermal hydration and after doing much research that was because they were in a rush to go home on Friday I could go on about how disgusted I am with their service but I would not advise anybody wasting their money to be treated so poorly by the staff Dr. Dugre seemed OK but the rest of the staff fell in line with their policies I asked for a simple military discount and was turned away straight away apparently they hate our country and our veterans so if you feel the same way I do you would find another veterinarian practice to patronize I'm a disabled veteran and a pension and I've never been charged before the services were rendered I was there the day before and was charged after the services makes no sense stay away it's buyer beware everywhere ! read more

We have three budgies. For 6 yrs we brought them to a vet in Wappingers falls to have wings clipped. She never suggested we take them once a year to an Avian vet for a yearly well check. Even though we gave our birds loving care and a nutritionally sound diet, our 6 yr old started slowing down. However, he was still healthy. We were advised to take him to an Avian specialist in Westchester. Unfortunately after his 2 visits there his health declined rapidly. We were blessed to find this hospital. With Dr. Barkers treatment, Bashert quickly recovered. We were blessed to have almost 3 more wonderful weeks with him. Sadly the last few days, he stopped eating. & grew gravely I'll. We had to make the heart wrenching decision to euthanize him. Our thanks to Dr. Barker, her vet tech Crystal who assisted, as well as the entire staff. They're level of compassion and caring ...the words thank you don't seem like enough. You made an awful day bearable with your loving kindness and care. God bless everyone of you!! I had been taking my rabbit, Hera, to Creature Comforts since January of this year. Hera had developed a respiratory infection, and Dr. Saez was absolutely wonderful. She explained everything she was doing, was very thorough in her examinations and clear in her explanations for the nursing care she would need at home. Unfortunately, Hera was older and developed complications and I had to have her euthanized. I can't say enough about the kindness and compassion we experienced. They made sure she was comfortable so that the euthanasia would not be physically traumatic to her. Thanks to Dr. Saez and the staff, we were able to give her a peaceful, loving good-bye. On all our visits, the staff was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. They were great about following up to find out how she was doing. We have been seeing Dr. Fairlie for about 3 years and we travel 1 hour from northeast NJ just to see her! She is caring, compassionate, knowledgable, as well as very accommodating with our schedules. The staff is extremely friendly and remembers you and your pet by name. Her prices are very reasonable compared to other veterinarians in our area. She is not just a standard veterinarian, she has been globally trained in dealing with a wide variety of species, ranging from the normal household pets to the unusual variety. Dr. Fairlie provides standard medical practice as well as advanced medical care to include surgery and intensive care. She has made it a point to hire staff that reflect her professionalism and has recently brought on a new doctor that shares her skills and compassion. Although I have only seen Dr. Barker once, I was highly impressed with her professionalism and care for our dog. The office as well as exam rooms are always spotless and the environment feels warm and welcoming. Not only is Alissa the smartest Vet that I've ever seen, but she's almost the kindest and most compassionate. Her staff always greet us with such a positive energy that's so refreshing. I could go on forever but she's helped my puppy that was attacked by a dog heal incredibly quickly, she helped a friend of mine with their dog that had a skin condition for the dog's entire life and had the dog cured, healthy, and happy in a matter of months. The worst my dog Layla a shitzu Was prescribed veratec 3D topical Flea and tick prevention . She had a reaction within six hours of almost seizures I took her back three times to creature comfort's they denied responsibility for my dog and the toxic reaction that she was having to this medication and after researching I gave them facts and they continue to deny and not take responsibility and direct me in the correct measure for the safety and welfare of my animal suffered and so I called two other vets in fishkill and over the phone they immediately told me to take her to the animal hospital two out fluids put in her body and her spine to counteract the reaction which saved her life . Afterword they had a nerve to send me a letter addressing my behavior instead of taking any responsibility apologizing or any kind of refund of almost $400 they charged me for poisoning and almost killing my dog read more

If you are looking for a vet who is looking to squeeze every dime out of your pocket whilst being completely rude at the same time, then this is the Vet for you. I have taken my pug there twice. The first for an annual visit and shots. I wasn't impressed with Dr. Barker then who pushed every product they had while putting down the ones my dog was on but I decided I'd stick with it for the time being since it was so close to my house. After my dog injured himself while I was in vacation I called right away to schedule an appointment. I was told if I wanted to get in any sooner I would be charged extra for an emergency fee. When I finally brought my dog in i was right away insulted by the vet. Dr Barker clearly does not know how to speak to a human being because she was also extremely rude to her own vet assistant. She told me my dog needed x rays and when I asked her for a price estimate she said she would need to get back to me. A few days later the x ray estimate was $850! Not to mention she pushed several other tests that would cost me over $1000. When i asked her about the prices for the tests she condescendingly asked "why are you on a budget?" Dr. Garner in Hyde Park by the way only charged $40 for the same exact x ray on another dog I know. Absolutely absurd! Will never go to this vet again. read more

Knowledgeable and friendly, a bit high priced, but that's usually ok with me for great care. I was just disappointed that I dropped a big chunk of money for a seriously ill pet and no one called me to check on my animal. I can't convey in words the complete lack of professionalism of creature comforts animal hospital. The staff is completely lost. They disclosed my personal information to my sitter. They wouldn't tell me the status of my dog and told me I had to wait and speak to the doctor. Which to me is a sign of bad news. They left me in that state for hours and it was over nothing. They don't return phone calls for days. The vet is extremely capable and competent, however her support staff is a complete waste of space. You will find yourself extremely frustrated and furious and thats before you even get the bill. If you take a chance by going to them you will see. Why take that chance? Spare yourself the aggravation I went to flannery they are great even if it was 45 min away. Completely worth it. They know what they are doing and I'm satisfied. If your spending copious amounts of money wouldn't you want to be happy with your vet. read more
