Have gone there for many years. Was fired as a patient/customer today for i am not really sure what. Years ago this was a pretty good vet, then they got bought out, and since i have never seen the same DVM two years running. Took my dog in today to get bloodwork done, and to get a lump tested to see if if she has cancer again. The new, very young vet listened to me explain the reasons i had come in (for maybe $500-600 worth of services), and responded by trying to upsell me on testing/meds for osteoarthritis. For context, i have never been to this office without several upselling attempts by staff. I explained that i was looking at a very expensive visit today, likely followed by thousands of dollars of cancer treatment, and that i was not interested in discussing arthritis today. The vet had no idea about testing costs, so someone else was brought in to explain that. There was a long pause, and then the office manager came, and reproved me at great length, in very vague and confusing language, for being dismissive to her staff, and told me i was free to leave with no charges if i wanted to. I said that i would rather proceed with getting the services that i came in for. Apparently this was the wrong answer. She then told me that they did not want to provide me with any services. My dog had a lump that appeared out of nowhere . I brought her in for the lump and a teeth cleaning which she really needed . Everyone from reception to the discharge was very helpful . Alissa the manager helped me schedule since my hours are weird she' was very helpful . On the day of Morgan and Daryl were excellent keeping me in the loop . Also I was very happy with the post op instructions and after care . And a call to check up on my little piper . They are my new vet ! read more

Rude front desk service , you would think working with animals you would be friendly, not the case here .Other than the service the Vet was very nice and caring, place is pricey though and also will throw hidden fees at you . Be sure to get a receipt and understand it. reply: thanks for getting back , it was not a same day refund, my appointment was wednesday and said you would call back, it is now wednesday of the next week and i had to call again to try to get the refund, Not sure of the name of the lady working front desk but it's been multiple times where she has given attitude and acted like we don't care for our dog , he's spoiled hah and yes when there's an 100$ emergency appointment fee we were not notified of or asked to be an emergency appointment it's hidden. read more

They basically killed my dog and best friend Sherwin. I went into the vet saying he has a heart murmur and he's breathing heavy and coughing a lot. This was 2weeks ago and they also said they will get in touch with me for him to see a heart specialist. They never got back to me about that. I called a week later saying he stopped eating his food, he's coughing over 100 times a day and his breathing is really heavy, so they gave him the exact meds they gave Sherwin a week ago and I said what about the heart specialist seeing him. Oh they said on the 25th I said anything sooner because he's in bad shape. They told me not to worry and all his blood work came back in good standing. So like a fool I trusted them so I waited. Four days later Sherwin was dead. They did nothing to help him and insured me he was good. I would of taken him to the emergency room but I trusted the vet. It's a traumatic experience to find your best friend dead on the couch. I don't wish that on anybody. I just want an explanation why they didn't do anything for him. He was only 10 and with the proper care he would of lived 3-4 more years. I will be taken further action against them legally I don't think that vet should be treating dogs or cats or anything They dropped the ball on this and it amazes me that nobody in the entire place said that this dog is sick and we recommend you to take him to the emergency room but they didn't do that. They insured me he was ok. I highly suggest you consider not to ever bring your pet here, they are incompetent and that vet should be fired. I understand they aren't perfect but when they insure me he's good and is dead 4 days later that upsets me and my wife cries every day. He just passed away 2 days ago. I should of trusted my gut and brought him to the emergency room but I trusted the vet and I blame myself for that. Don't go to this kill factory if your pet is sick because they don't care. I called Beacon Veterinary yesterday to ask about anti anxiety medication for my dog, who gets very nervous around fireworks (July 4th is coming). We have been going to Beacon Vet for one year, since we moved in the area. The dr recommended Sileo, which they did not have in stock but could order. I asked about the cost, $37 for one dose from the vet, $24.99 on line, with prescription. Considering the pretty steep price difference AND the fact that the vet would have to order it, i asked if I could just get the rx and order it for less. After checking with the dr, the very helpful person on the phone told me that their office cannot give me an rx. I insisted politely but the answer remained no. It is morally and ethically wrong for a veterinary practice to refuse to issue a prescription for a medication they recommend only to coerce the patient to purchase the medication from them, at a substantially higher price. Such practices are illegal in the medical practice for people and hopefully will be forbidden in veterinary practices as well. I am very disappointed and will choose another vet. read more

My cat was starting to become sick and didn't have a primary vet. I called and they were able to squeeze me in for an appointment that day to help her out. The staff were all kind and helpful. You could tell that everyone working there genuinely cared about animals. The visit was very reasonably priced (just under $100 with medicine and claw clipping). I am very happy with this visit and the help they provided to get my cat, KitCat feeling better. :) You guys rock! read more

I've taken time and have given this vet a lot of chances because of Covid, influx of pets during quarantine and changing locations.. here's my honest opinion. In the beginning we had a female dr. who was great! But she doesn't work there anymore. The current dr. always seems very rushed and there's an air of chaos. I tried to be empathetic but most visits have been bad the last two and a half years and I have four animals. 1. I'll call and ask for a price estimate and then when in office without asking they'll run a blood test which is extra which I didn't ask for.. they've done this twice! They also say my pet needs one thing over the phone but in person say they need additional shots. It's never the same as what they quote on the phone. Then I'm put on the spot and can't research first what it is and if my pet needs it. There's also been times when my dog or cats needed an annual shot soon (like the following month) and they didn't tell me.. 2. I had a receptionist be Extremely rude for no reason (I will say everyone was friendly this last visit so maybe they're working on this / also that receptionist wasn't there) 3. Construction going on loudly IN THE ROOM with us when they moved to the new location. 4. There's a long wait with an appointment (like 45-1 hour ) and yet they continue to accept walk ins day of 5. My growing dog wasn't weighed before given her meds that are weight specific .. luckily I took the initiative to go over and weigh her I will say there are a couple of women working there who are really nice and you can tell they care about animals. I feel for them. I think it's a structural problem honestly. The Dr. always seems in a big rush ..maybe they are understaffed? Thank God my pets haven't been sick. For peace of mind I'm switching vets.. * In response: I've already spoken to you all about the receptionist, it was about two months ago after you came on. It was a shocking experience. I don't know why it wasn't noted. I explained in detail what happened. We all have bad days but this was on another level. Today my dog was not weighed when she came in. I weighed her myself (after meds were prescribed. If she was 1 pound heavier she would of needed different doses). I've never had anyone explain about pet emergency walk in's. Not once. We just wait and wait. Maybe you could call your patients when you're running behind so they can plan their day accordingly? As far as vaccines I'm referring to the times when we were NOT told that a shot was coming up. Today I was told, which was great so we didn't have to return again next month. A lot could be improved if things were just explained like that the receptionist can give only give rough estimate, that blood work has to be taken for heart guard and that there are two types of blood work that can be taken... and so on. none of this was explained before hand so I could make a decision. I know you all are under going a lot of changes, which was why I was patient for so long. I just want other pet parents to know what we experienced. I appreciate that you're making changes and working to improve. Unfortunately this is no longer the Roosevelt Vet I once knew and loved. Dr McArdle was awesome and thorough- she did surgery on my dog to remove some mast cell tumors, 5 in total. A year later, when she was gone and the new vet took over, my dog developed 3 more tumors. This time it was more expensive to have the procedue done even though there was less to do. The scars also didn't heal as nicely as when Dr McArdle stitched her up. Furthermore, i did some research on the new owner and didn't like what I saw so we never went back. Their new name seems to be an effort to capitalize on the "revitalization" of Beacon. Ugh. To include a response to the owner: Yes, my dog did receive a dental cleaning, which would merit a change in price. However, the invoice shows the price of the cleaning, so the math is not difficult. I spoke to the receptionist at length about it. read more

Honestly everyone has been great so far. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and caring. Also the attention to detail was exceptional. Even though we aren't regular clients, I felt very comfortable bringing my dog there for surgery. The surgeon called me the morning of to go over some things with me and spent time explaining everything. They gave me detailed aftercare and the vet tech took get time going over everything with me. They called the day after to see how he was doing also. read more

I cannot overstate how thankful and indebted I feel to the staff of Beacon Veterinary Associates. One of our elderly dogs passed away recently, and they went above and beyond to make sure we felt supported after his death. I recently changed to this vet from one in Brooklyn. I am so incredibly pleased with them... We just had our second visit; my dog started scooting last night and they fit us in an hour after I called today. They are incredibly responsive, pleasant, and manage visits well despite Covid. Very glad that my pup's health is in their hands. read more

They don't respond to emails and immediately put you on hold when you call...if they actually answer the phone. The staff is not friendly or attentive to the needs of your pet. read more

It is not my intention to discourage anyone from putting your pet in this vet's hands, but you should know of one of their policy before your pet will need medication. If you buy the meds and/or food directly from them, even waiting while they order it for you, you are fine, of course paying top dollar for them. My problem was that they didn't have the food I urgently needed for my dog, they were out of stock, and could not promise me when it would arrive in their office. So I asked for a prescription that I can send to Chewy. That's when I was told I would be charged by the practice a $20.00 per perscription fee (40 since I needed both dry and wet food) if I bought from Chewy. I am now arranging for a new vet who hopefully would put my pet's health before their profit. read more

LOVE THEM!!! We live in Westchester and we actually travel to Beacon to go to Roosevelt Vet on the Hudson. I haven't had the best experience with vets in the past and this is the first place that I have ever been too that I totally trust the staff and feel safe. Every member on the staff is absolutely wonderful and they are all welcoming, comforting, professional and truly love their clients. You just get such a good vibe just walking in the door. Both of our kitties were adopted from Roosevelt Vet on the Hudson and I love that they are getting the opportunity to watch them grow up. The entire staff at Roosevelt Vet were amazing. We lived in Beacon for 1 year and in that time, took both of our kitties to Roosevelt for several issues: Ear infections, teeth cleaning (and ultimately, pulling), as well as a biopsy and removal of a suspicious-looking mole. Each time, we felt increasingly confident and relieved to have our pets in their hands. The vets were extremely communicative and treated every issue with concern and attention. Since moving back to CA, my girlfriend and I have said on more than one occasion "We've gotta find vets as good as the folks at Roosevelt" (total truth!) Regardless, they're real deal animal lovers and complete professionals when it comes to taking care of your fuzzy friends. Utmost recommendation! read more

Recently I got my puppy from a breeder in Ohio, and needed to get him to the vet ASAP after I brought him home. My mom has been going to Beacon Veterinary Associates for years. She brought our, now passed, family dog Molly there and they took amazing care of her, even to her last days.. so my mother recommended that I bring my miniature schnauzer there. It is a bit of a drive from where I live in NYC, but it's well worth the trip for a trustworthy vet. I was so pleased with my experience there, and how organized they were with the COVID-19 curbside service they have. I purchased the puppy wellness plan that covers pretty much everything needed for a new dog. I felt totally comfortable leaving my dog there, and I knew he was in good hands. Everyone I spoke to was so pleasant, very accommodating and overall nice! I'm so happy with Beacon Veterinary Associates.. definitely have a customer/patient for life!! read more

Our husky was displaying unusual behavior, we looked up a Veterinary near our location. We found The Beacon Veterinary Associates on Yelp. We called, got an appointment same day. At the appointment, the staff was friendly and very helpful. Dr. Souers was honest and thorough with her diagnosis and plan of treatment. Husky was started on treatment same day and the next day she was more herself, 2 days later she was back to the mischievous husky we own and love. The vet was friendly and they saw me in a timely fashion but the vet also reassured me that i would be compensated for my dog's medicine and testing fees being that i had received a lyme vaccination and she still tested positive. Upon several phone calls and never actually speaking to the same vet who i saw i was informed nothing could be done with their rep. I think the vet shouldnt go around reassuring people theyll be taken care of if he is not 100 percent sure. On top of that they charged me for bloodwork but still gave me the medicine beforehand which is a scam in itself. Not recommended. read more

Glad they don't force any procedure without asking or really needing it. Getting an appointment is always a reasonable process specially when you realized how heavy their patients load is! The new owners/staff are very kind. Our dog was there for several years before we recently made a switch to a new vet. Our new pup had an accident in December and because it was late on a weekend, we were forced to seek elsewhere than Beacon Vet I.e. new vet. The difference in bedside manner was truly beyond, but more so - the pricing was unbelievable compared to Beacon Vet. My husband and I looked at each other in shock when we received the estimate - If we had gone to Beacon Vet we both knew it would easily be close to a $1K bill while we spent half of that at our new vet who are truly and genuinely lovers of animals. Our dogs are really our lives and we knew leaving that day that we had to making a switch was in the best interest for them. Further, the fact that our new vet gives you an "estimate" instead of just charging you an arm and a leg without a blink says enough in itself. Beacon Vet is over priced. Naturally we want the best care for our dogs, but the prices charged are ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, the staff is lovely but at least for this family, the cost just isn't worth it. read more

Dr. McArdle is awesome. I was so sad to leave my vet in NYC when I moved to Beacon, but this place is really good. She was very patient with my attitude-problem cat and managed to give him a microchip even though he scratched her. WARNING! LONG POST:I can't say enough good things about this place. I discovered Roosevelt Vet On The Hudson shortly after they opened and didn't go back to my regular vet afterwards. Incredibly affordable with a great staff. Even my cat seemed to recognized that they were always trying to help her. At other vets she use to hiss, swat and be somewhat terrifying to deal with but with them she remained calm and fairly easygoing (for her, lol). I was able to get to know the staff better when she became ill late this fall. There were a series of procedures, meds, etc. I was a frequent caller and visitor and they were there for me every time to provide answers and support. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Sourers, Nicole, Heather, and Morgan. What a great team!! They always treated my baby with such compassion and warmth. Dr. Sourers went above her duties, calling various facilities for me to check on pricing for procedures and helping me understand the least invasive forms of treatment. She did a fantastic job inserting a feeding tube (which my cat needed as she wasn't responding to appetite stimulating meds). She's excellent at what she does!! My kitty did pass eventually. She was old and very sick. But I feel certain that the care and kindness my cat received gave us more time together while minimizing any discomfort she might have been feeling. She remained in very good spirits and I think the wonderful medical treatment she received had something to do with that. I think other places may have encouraged me to put her down but the team at Roosevelt Vet knew I wanted to fight for her and they fought the battle with us. I'm so incredibly grateful. When they returned her ashes they even included a lovely imprint of her paws, seeds to plant in her honor, and a card filled with handwritten messages. My boyfriend and I were blown away. They really care about animals and treat your pet like it was their own. If I ever decide to have another pet, this is where we'll be going. Pets truly become family and you want to take them to people who value them as much as you do. Best care and staff I've encountered in a long time. I highly recommend them and am happy they're part of the Beacon community! read more

Apparently this was once a caring place. Now it is a business in the worst possible sense of the term: They ONLY want your money, and they will not tell you how much you're spending until you hit the cash register and think, "how did I just spend $300 on my (generally very healthy) dog for 5 minutes"? And then, after they've told you that your dog might have a terminal condition, they do not give you test results ... for 10 days and counting, in my case. Absolutely shameful. Also, you should be braced for being judged harshly if your dog is not perfectly groomed. Beacon needs a decent and humane vet in the worst way. read more

My dog was treating with both doctors an they miss diagnosed my mini schnauzer. He was sick for long time, the two vets said was stomach problems, change diet, pain medications, etc. This was for almost 1 1/2 years. At the end my dog had several diarrhea and blood in the stools. Actually I also went to New Windsor office because he was very sick. So the last thing that suggest was a sonogram and the result was devastating. My dog had cancer the tumor was very big that was attached to his spine, aorta vein and other organs. We have to put him to sleep when I was holding him in my arms. He suffering some much pain but always managed to shows his caring and loving personality. I feel guilty because I trust these "2 doctors " and not going for a third opinion. I got a letter from Dr Spaccarelli telling how sorry he felt for my lost. I also during my dog last night, I learned they don't have emergency, can't leave your pet that is in very delicate state and life risk for be monitored during the night. You need; if a emergency happens, bring your pet at emergency clinic and repay for all diagnostics and test again. So sad and horrible experiences that can't never forget. read more

Good staff both front and in the exam rooms. They try to fit you in if it is an emergency. They work with you on problems and give you options. Rates are reasonable and the place is very clean. I bring my four mixed breed dogs here - all large - from 50-100 lbs. They seem open to any breed and even work with me with my rescue pit bull and her "stranger danger" issues. read more

Dr. Nick and his team are incredible! Since moving back to the area two years ago, I have been taking my 16 year old cat to them. She mostly would have to go for her routine check ups but at the end of the summer she did become very ill. They were able to get her in right away to check on her and ultimately she did need surgery. During the whole process, from surgery prep to her follow up about a week later, they kept me up to date on everything I needed to know and how to make her comfortable. They also called randomly to check and see how she was doing several weeks later. Unfortunately, because of her age and diagnosis, she did ending up passing several months later. To say that each and every member of that staff went our of their way each time I needed something for her would be an understatement. They consoled me and and never made me feel silly about being sad, instead they reminded me that I gave her the best life for the 16 years that I had her. I have and will continue to recommend The Beacon Veterinary Associates. 5 stars across the board! read more
