Popped in on Wednesday probably closer to 1 p.m. Just a single server here so you'll want to be…read morepatient. We went with the catfish plate along with the bbq pork plate. Picked our sides from the options on the board rather than the less inspired options on the printed menu. (broccoli salad, hoppin' john, sweet (collard) greens, and Capri salad (not quite a caprese but did have cheese, tomatoes). Catfish was a the star - light and crisp and hot from fryer to the table - seasoned lightly and fresh tender fillets. It's nice to be able to choose the number of fillets you'd like adjusting for appetite or diners to share with. Pulled pork was moist and better than I would have expected at a non bbq restaurant, let alone one at a state park. More customers poured in after us - so the later you are to lunch, the more patient you'll want to be. On a Wednesday this might be the only restaurant in the area - I think we'd be looking as far back as Harrisburg for something else that was open.

The acoustic guitar duo in the patio was a nice touch. The patio is a nice atmosphere for hanging out or for dinner. The cabins were full, and seemed to trend older, but could be an easy way to enjoy your area. Since the campgrounds doesn't sell firewood on site, perhaps the restaurant could?

They had a variety of choices. We did not know what to get as everything sounded good. I got the Springfield signature dish - the Horseshoe Sandwich which was delicious! My companions got a burger, Potato Soup, Wings, and catfish. Do not miss out on their cobbler! The crust was perfection! Also, make sure to get the Sweet Tea. It's made in house and is the right amount of sweet. We all had our fill! On top of it all our server was so kind and welcoming and friendly! She made sure our sweet tea was always filled. The place itself is spacious. The outdoor space looked like it could be a lot of fun in the evening.

I ordered a Philly Cheese steak sandwich, fries & fried jalapeños (because I had never heard of them) the fried jalapeños were way way too salty, the meat on the cheese steak had no flavor, no seasoning at all, it was cold & the the texture was off putting. The fries were also too crispy for me but I will own that one. I didn't specify to make them softer. And my meal alone... almost $30 bucks!!! The waitress took too long to take our drink order & then seemed rushy to get our order. She seemed more concerned with working the customers at the bar. She wasn't rude, just inattentive. The decor was awesome tho & it was peaceful in there. The bathrooms were very nice & clean with funny signs. It will not be a repeat experience for me.
