This was our second time eating at this establishment. We will never go again due to the horrible racist comments made by other customers. The staff just lets it all go as if they are also racists. We have a place in Cadiz and it was a great day trip for us. Food was good, the location easy and frankly the people are what made it.

Worst service we have received in a very long time! Had to ask the busboy to get someone to take our order. We ordered an appetizer which never came. The food took forever to come and when it did it piece meal. They brought my wife's sides but not the main course, then one of the other meals, then finally our meals. No one refilled drinks or even brought our bill. We had to go to the register to pay. We talked to the manager who simple said we were busy and had a lot of drive through orders. The food was just ok. We won't ever go back and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone else. Tables were cramped. read more

Over the years this has been a family favorite. But in the last few years we first started noticing the dining area wasn't being kept clean like it was in the past and the staff basically takes your order, brings everything out and that's the last you see of them. No drink refills. No checking to see if everything is good.... Nothing. The food use to be 5 stars all the way. Those days are gone. White beans don't get cooked through. Hush puppies are somehow burned on the outside AND raw on the inside. Coleslaw had very little dressing on it. The catfish filets were good and also the pepper jam is always a treat. The staff also seem irritated if you ask them for your bill after you've stood and waited at the cash register for a good while. One last very important thing. My husband is wheelchair bound and the restaurant is not set up appropriately to allow wheelchair access very well. I think the days of The Front Porch being one of our favorite places are over. read more

When I first began visiting this area, this restaurant was very good. However my last two trips have been horrible. The food quality has declined. The catfish is all breading and very dry. The white beans are not cooked and served at room temp. The service is atrocious. I waited for 5 minutes to be told I can seat myself. When I left to pay, again left at register for nearly 5 minutes to be cashed out. The restaurant is absolutely filthy. Food all over the floor and kicked into corners. Looks like they just clean up before they close, not as they go through the day. And it was not crowded so they had ample staff and time to clean. Horrible experience the last two visits which means I'll never return. read more

Very bad experience went here for an afternoon out with family, had a Rude hostess, rude server. They made our group set at separate tables back to back. Would not let us push 2 tables together like some places will. They Got 2 orders wrong, told the server and she pretty much called my wife a liar! and it was written on the ticket!!! Waited A long time with empty drinks!! Eating area is very cramped you constantly bump the other people's chairs behind you. So unless, you like bad service! Just yuck yuck yuck Gave them a second try since I didn't have fish 3 years ago when I tried this place. We had a craving for fish and our favorite place is only open on the weekends so we were starving and excited for the full fish dinner. If you love fish , you won't love this frozen crap. The batter has no flavor and was falling off every time you picked it up. The fish was so over cooked it was like jerky. The fried okra was super greasy and the slaw had hardly any dressing and no flavor. Hushpuppies which are a favorite of mine we're greasy outside and gummy inside. We made a special trip to Marion for a catfish lunch at this restaurant. We had they're navy beans, hush puppies and cornbread, only to find the beans and cornbread were cold and the hush puppies weren't done in the middle. We both ordered the catfish filet and mine was like mush in the middle. My wife had an excellent catfish filet. Our previous 3 or 4 trips in the last 6to this restaurant have been excellent. read more

Two words: HUSH PUPPIES. Seriously the best I've ever had. This is a small-town restaurant--not a lot to look at in the interior, but the food is very good. Son had blackened catfish which he raved about. I had a chopped steak and baked potato. The slaw (which comes with cornbread, hushpuppies, and white beans served family style) was very, very good. Back to the puppies: They reheated BEAUTIFULLY in the oven, so next time I'm in Marion, I'm buying a few dozen and freezing them! Yes, they're THAT good. read more

I have been coming here for years. The fried catfish is always delicious and as others have noted the hush puppies are what you really come here for. I also love those white beans (which are best when you pour the red pepper relish on top) and cornbread. They have lots of other dishes and I have never been disappointed. This was not my first choice for a lunch spot, but I typically shun places that say fried fish (of any kind) is their specialty. I do not like fish, rarely eat fried food and do not like smelling the stench of frying grease while I am eating and on my clothes for the rest of the day. But as this was Sunday, most other restaurants were closed. You can usually judge a good restaurant by the number of cars in the parking lot. It looked like the lot was full, so I decided to give this one a chance. SO glad I did. The Philly Stirfry was very good and the side salad that it came with was excellent. Got an order of hush puppies and I agree they were fantastic. The place continued to fill up and was standing room only by the time we left. I have eaten here for years and have to say today was the worst experience I've had. The hush puppies were over fried the beans cold the catfish not crispy, server was very disengaged. We had to ask for things twice and even get up and go and get what we needed. My feet stuck to the floor and the table of the guest left as we came in was only bused and never wiped clean. They were not busy only the three of us for awhile and then a couple came in making it five of us for her to serve. If this was my first time I would never go back again. What a great little restaurant! We had a large family meal - 25 people - and they took care of us. Candy and her staff are amazing. The food is simple but so good and fresh. White beans with hush puppies and cornbread comes out first and then several of us had fried catfish that was cooked perfectly. Others had hamburgers, chicken fried steak and even steak. Bring your appetite. If you can, bring cash. They charge 5% extra for credit card transactions but the total bill was still only $315 including tip. read more

Stopped for lunch here. Ordered a Reuben sandwich and fries. Worst Reuben sandwich we have ever had. Corned beef on a cold, untoasted hoagie bun. No sauce. Asked about thousand island sauce, which was finally brought ice cold to the table. They charged us $1.00 to share the sandwich plate, which would have been fine if we had each gotten a larger portion of something. I guess the $1 was to wash the empty plate. So disappointed. Usually the small, local restaurants are something special. Don't bother with this one if you are traveling through. read more

We've been eating here for years. I will have to say its been pretty good and consistent. Typically we get the fried catfish cole slaw, fries, hushpuppies n beans. Servers are typically friendly and on point. Service can be a tiny bit slow if they are busy, but even then its not a long wait to get your food. Good , hot food , reasonable prices. Good service. We will keep eating here as you couldnt ask for much more in Marion. read more

This is one of the best restaurant in Marion, KY. For a variety of food and especially fried catfish, it is the best. There is plenty of free parking at the front door. The food served is basically country cooking and if you go on a Sunday after church you may find the place completely full. We had the fried catfish and it is delicious. They will bring you a bowl of white beans, cornbread, slaw and hushpuppies. Ask for the green onions if they have them the day you are there.There might be an extra charge of $1 for the glass of green onions. The fried catfish has a very nice coating, is fired to perfection and the pieces are thinks (not those rally thin ones you get at some restaurants). The prices are fantastic however you must remember you are in a very small western Kentucky town of about 3500 populations. The only irritant, and that is certainly not the fault of the restaurant, is that extra 3% eat in local sales tax. It is nothing more than a complete rip off that not only do the tourists such as myself but the locals have to pay for eating in a restaurant in that small town. Allegedly the taxes are to be used to promote tourism. That's right they right---they charge me and you an extra tax to get us to come to town and spend some money. The wait staff is friendly and efficient.The FRONT PORCH is worth a visit the next time you travel to Marion. read more
