The service was hit or miss and I had trouble flagging down our server (the other servers and employees studiously ignored me and would not pass on the message despite my best efforts, which was frustrating to say the least). I get that that is (technically) not their job, but the absence of collaboration and teamwork was remarkable. I started with the Beige cocktail which was rich, full-bodied, flavorful, and strong. We nibbled on a variety of bites. Overall, a nice time was had by all.

When we checked in at the host stand, we were given a complimentary glass of champagne to take to our seats. How cool is that? What minimizes the overall rating is their limited menu. Their best items are seafood related, and their only steak on the regular menu (steak frites) was tough and chewy (even on medium). The gnocchi is a red-based sauce versus white cream. You cannot be picky here! Their higher roller menu has a nice Wagyu - 8 ounces for $144. This was the best part. The baked potato with it was cut into thin slices and cooked uniquely, yet tasty. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful with the food and wine lists. Overall, the most impressive part was ALL of the food had incredible flavor. Even for the items I did not care about, the flavors were still fresh and bold. I would go back if someone wanted to, but I'm not craving anything specifically to want to go back either.

Happened to be our 28th wedding anniversary, and didn't have reservations, but were able to be seated immediately at the bar, with Brook(e)? as our bartender. First, the outdoor alley entrance is fun/non-assuming. Once in, the decor is moody and perfectly dark/speak-easy-ish, much like a private underground club. Very impressive. We had cocktails/wine and ordered the Wedge Salad and the Ceaser Salad. Both were amazing, but my husband stated that the Ceaser was the best he had ever had. My Wedge Salad had bountiful amounts of flavorful blue cheese and amazing bacon chunks that made this the best salad I had ever had. We then ordered the petite filet (Medium) and Brussel sprouts and put a chocolate cake on order "to go". Highly recommend all of the above. The chocolate cake is "go big or go home" for sure. It hardly fit in two combined to go boxes. It was chocolatey, not overly dense, and the frosting complimented it perfectly! We cannot give enough high praise to Brook for the recommendations and for just making it a super fun vibe. I would gladly book a flight from San Diego just to go to dinner again at this place! Thanks for the special night!

Now, they blew the service on this night. Totally missed being our salads...before the entrees were already coming to the table. Open way late for dinner...that's awesome.

The service was fantastic, the drinks were on point, and the food was incredible. We tried a little bit of everything: alligator, crawfish, pork chop, voodoo chicken, sandwiches, gumbo, and dessert--and every single dish delivered. The cocktails were consistently excellent across the board as well. Overall, we had a really great experience and couldn't have been happier. We'll definitely be back on our next visit--especially to finally try the surf and turf. Thanks, Nola's!

The shrimp were tiny and the sandwich was covered with a sauce I didn't like. It should have occurred to me that the fried green tomatoes might also be Cajun. We don't like Cajun but thought the sandwiches might not have all the Cajun seasoning. We should have asked. Another lady at the table got the same thing and she didn't like hers, either. She did ask for ranch dressing for the fried green tomatoes. I followed suite. It did make the tomato's easier to eat but they still were not good. We only got 3 slices each and didn't finish them. I left almost all of my sandwich. I broke off a piece of the bread hoping it might be a good rich bread that I could nibble on. No luck. My husband ordered crawfish étouffée. He said it wasn't warm and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp too long. It was also salty and he has to watch his sodium. He left nearly all of it. One couple ordered voodoo chicken and smashed potatoes. They liked it and ate it all. One person got a chicken sandwich that he said was good. The 2 children got hamburgers and Mac and cheese. They loved the Mac and cheese but barely ate any of the burgers. Their grandmother took a bite of one of the burgers and said it was good. She took the burgers home for the kids. They put the gratuity on the check without telling us. My husband was about to add a gratuity but his sister noticed it was already added and stopped him. They charged us to use a credit card. That alone is enough to keep me from going back. The ambiance was New Orleans decor and pleasant.
